Fitted my kickstart return spring today, and proceeded to start the bike. Fired up after a few kicks, but I kept hitting the footpeg with my heel despite trying a few locations for the kickstart lever. I've got it mounted so that it starts to turn the engine at 12 o'clock, but it seems to want to continue past the footpeg (at about 4 o'clock) down to almost vertically down. Is this normal? Are my feet just too big, or it it just my technique? Also, it seemed like when I was turning it over, I would get one good kick which was turning the engine, then one "quiet" kick - is it the case that I'm kicking it through the expansion part of the stroke every other kick?

Hi, This is my first post here and what a great site with loads of information. Earlier this year I bought two Bultacos, M159, and basket case M156. I have gone through all the mechanical parts of the M159, engine tranny, carb, etc so I know I would have a solid bike when I ride it, might end up restoring it rest of the way cosmetically this winter. Learned a lot about the Bultaco working on the M159. So I got the M159 ride ready, and needed something else to work on so I started on the M156 which I planned on doing a full restoration from the start. Problem I have been enlightened about is that some of the parts are hard to get for this bike unlike the M159 (Not very m…

When the bike is running the ATF comes out the primary filler plug (it's vented). I can't figure out how the primary is getting pressurized, I thought that if the crank seals were bad they would suck, not blow. Thoughts?

Hi Help please I have a sherpa 350 1978 which has the speedo drive missing. It has in its place the speedo spacer from Bultaco uk. I have now got hold of a working speedo drive and wondered if any body can tell me how it fits. Does the drive go up against the swing arm then a spacer between the drive and wheel or does it have a spacer both sides. If any body has a photo that would be great and does anybody have the spacer sizes (with in mm) Thanks

Hi Guys Can anybody help Can anyone measure the voltage that comes out of the lighting coil on a sherpa 350 199 model. I am trying to fit lights and horn for mot and only get 2.4v on the red wire for horn,(6v horn fitted and does not make a noise when wired direct to earth or through switch). tested on a 6v battery and works fine. It is a new ign coil from bultaco uk. The yellow wire gives out 3.2v and is giving me a good brake light when pressed and not bad front and back light. but if i press the brake pedal with the lights on all goes very dim almost like a bad earth problem. all earths cleaned. i have disconected wires from magneto and replaced with a six volt torc…
