Hi, Guys I have a 199A and the thread is stripped on the gearbox where the oil drain plug fits. I believe that it requires a helicoil thread inserting in order to effect a repair. I have no experience of such procedures. Do I need to remove the engine? Do I have to strip the engine? Can I just take the bike down to a repair shop and have the work done with the bike complete as it is?

I'm having problems fitting a chain tensioner to my M80 that I am rebuilding. Its one of Bultaco UK's. It appears that the only way to fit one on an M80 is to the rear brake torque arm bracket on the swinging arm, and the tensioner has to face forwards. I've never had a bike with this arrangement before. All the bikes I've had have had the tensioner 'trailing'. This might not be a problem, but the chain is rubbing on the tensioner spring, despite bending it as far as I can into the tensioner. Has anyboby else had this problem or can suggest any solutions? Cheers

Hello everyone. I've just bought myself an M80 which I am hoping to get sorted so that I can do a few trials this winter. I had a couple of Bultos when I was a keen young lad in the seventies, and have a soft spot for them! I have been looking at some of the posts to get advice on what to look for and how to sort things. Its been really useful. Clearly some of you guys know your Bultos. One thing I have not been able to find is how to remove the lower steering head bearing cup. I've tried heating it up and tapping it up the stem but the dust cover is starting to distort and there's no sign of it moving. Any advice? Also any other advice specific to rebuilding this mode…

Just wondered cos i have a spare front end from an OSSA gripper languishing in the corner of the shed and one of the main things that puts me off riding the 199B is the orrible feel of the tiller steering so just wondered if anybody had tried non leading axle forks? Using the Ossa yokes as well would also get rid of the tiller effect which feels very strange. Funny thing is in their day i dont seem to remember it bothering me but it does now.

i have been working on this for a bit, but must knock on now so thought i would show a few bits i done.. As you can see, some of these i have not done them as well as i could, and the reason for this is the bike is going to be my first go at trials, so its going to get abused and on top of that i did't want a bike i would be scared to use. The bike is all there just needs bearings and a tidy up as well as a bit of welding and its on to the paint. Doing the forks at work in the next few days and will hopfuly put a pick up.. next is the swing are which i have removed the bearing and need to get new ones. then paint for that and the frame.. forgot to say the bike i…

My 159 is currently at 1mm oversize but could do with a rebore as there is some light scoring after the small end spacer broke up. Is there a bigger oversize than +1mm or will that mean a new liner or scrap the barrel?
