Hi all, Just thought I'd share some before and after images of my Sherpa project bike i have been slowly bringing back to better than new condition. Everything has been restored , re-finished or rebuilt - including all frame parts, cycle parts and engine. It now has electronic ignition too which is great. Apart from the powder coat and re-chrome it has all been done with my very novice hands, and has been a bit of a labour of love! The bike was my fathers from nearly new and has covered under 300 miles, so was ripe for a resto job. Hi guys, first post here - my name is Chris, and I've been playing with trials bikes for about a year. I've just acquired a Sherpa, model 199 (possibly year 1979? - engine and frame numbers match, but can't remember anything else) which I'm in the process of rebuilding as a winter project. Not going for a show winner, but a good useable twinshock that I won't mind getting dirty. Seem to have 90% of the original parts, give or take what I bin/ruin, and is all going to plan so far, but I could use some advice on a few wee problems (and there will probably be more as I go...) just drove 450 mile round trip to pick up my bultaco sherpa i bought from the bay not sure what year it is starts with JB 199 also need a carb and exhaust had a look on the bay nothing about any body know where to get second parts from

I'd like to replace the 1.85 rear rim on my 199A with a 2.15. There is very little clearance on either side. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I just replaced the brake shoes to my Bultaco, got replacement ones and installed them. when I mount them without axle all seems OK, there is some space so they should run free. BUT when mounting the axle they don't fit the pads slide very strong. Some options: - mill away a mm or so on each side of the supports to the cam, (they look thicker) - mill away the sharp edges at the beginning and the end of the linings? - get another pair of shoes that fit - ... Any better or other suggestions how to align the lining so they fit again. It's "difficult" to see where the problem is. By the way the axle is not bend!

hello, I need to jump right in with a question. I tried a few searches but am coming up empty handed. So, my Bultaco Sherpa T appeared complete when I got it, and months later when I get to maaking it run I realize a few parts are missing. The side cover was put back on to look complete, even though the clutch rod and ball bearing were missing, and the flywheel nut was missing. I also failry certain one my sleeve gear bushes (111-047) is missing. I can see one way down on the shaft, but not near the end, and I have what seems like too much play on my sprocket shaft. My questions are- am I missing one based on this photo? Where can I buy one- I have had zero …

hi all ive just got aoungher sherpa 199A. its got the alloy tank witch is not to bad but it as a slight spit on the top off the tank were would the bet place to get it fixed in the northwest

Hi, i have what I think is a 198, the frame number starts with 198 and then some numbers. The bike has the alloy bashplate/no frame rails at the bottom. Am I right in thinking the bashplate model was 198A and 198B? If so maybe mine has been converted - if it has then its a professional job and looks very much like others I have seen so Im not worried but it'd be nice to know. I'd have expected the frame number on a 198A or 198B to start with 198A (or 198B) not just 198... Any ideas? thanks

i have a bultaco 198a 250cc it will start with the choke on from cold after two or three kicks, after it has warmed up if i stop to look at a section for four or five minutes i have to use the choke again for it to start, is there anything i can adjust it to start without the choke. I have been thinking of getting one for ages now and after watching a few trials and deciding I am no where near fit enough and that it looks too hard I decided to get one anyway. The bike has been sitting for at least 15 years but I chucked some new fuel line and a fuel filter on it, a new plug and some fresh fuel and started kicking and kicking and phew kicking and sweating and it started - ran for a few seconds and died. Got my breath back and got the same. I am pretty chuffed so far and now need to strip and clean the carb for the next step - float bowl full of treacle but oddly doesnt smell as nasty as old fuel sludge normally smells The plan is to get it sorted m…

hello guys ive just got anougher bultaco 199A kicks up first time runs well thing is the clutch is draging once shes warmed up its ok. i took the clutch ajuster screw off. and the clutch plate nunts or ajusted right to the end do you think they need nipping up or would it be the grub scerw that wants ajusting?

hi all ive fited a new eletronic ignition from bultaco uk. and im really at a loose end the thing is when i put the magneto on and tighten the nut up. the magneto locks up dosent do it when i put the old points back plate on. ive sent it back to bultaco uk. and they have tryed it they say theres nothing wrong with it. so i ask them to send it back. and im still having the same problem this is what i think is happening when i tighten the magneto nut up it looks to me as if its pushing on the back plat because the new ignition plate is much thicker than the old one or may be my magneto is to big the depth is about one and a half intches may be this is the problem can anybo…

Hey boys and girls I have recently had a big ish prang on my 76 sherpa and have slightly bent the rear rim and popped half a dozen spokes my hub also needs to be relinned Does anyone Know of a reasonable person to straighten and rebuild the wheel and reline the hub? Ideally bristol area but i will send off if needed also i could do with it being done asap as i have no other bike to ride. Many thanks James

Dear Anyone, I am rebuilding my Frontera 370cc model 215 MK11. Am at the stage of putting the swing arm back in. The swing arm spindle has on it not only the swing arm but also the rear engine mount. I notice that when the rear engine mount is in place on the swing arm spindle there is a space on either side of it; i.e. the rear engine mount can move to the left or the right on the swing arm spindle. Is that right? It seems to me that the back end of the engine ought ot be fixed and not prone to lateral movement no matter how small so have I missed out something when I am putting it all back together? I've noted all the stuff I took of but can't find any spacers or washe…

hello all im geting a electronic igniton from bultaco uk. for my 199A anybody any idea if there easy to fit? allso whats the best spark plug. and what should the gap be? im having troubel starting her up. have to put fuel down the head.and she starts up and runs ok. just whants the tick over and air scerw ajusting please can anybody help.
