Can anyone tell me the standard sprocket sizes for a 315? I'd also be interested to know what combinations people ride with. I'm thinking my 1st gear isn't low enough for the slower stuff. I based near Richmond, North Yorkshire so lots of wet grass, mud and rocks rocks and more rocks!

okay, had the tank off my 315 to top up/check the coolant, put it all back together and made sure the throttle cable was routed as it was when I took it off, however, this is where the fun (read annoying frustration) started. I started the monty to make sure the cable was performing okay, and it was, except when the bars are turned all the way to the right. When I do this and rev the engine slightly the motor runs on a little, it only returns to tick-over when I turn the bars back towards centre. It does not happen if I turn tio the left and reve the engine, only the right. If the bike is ticking over and I turn the bars to the right it stays in tick-over until I rev t…

  8. Howdy: I've just been out on (at last) on the bike today - generally really impressed....smooth off the bottom...only problem is the tickover... the bike will idle for a few seconds - then gets a bit lumpy and dies... If you turn the tickover up - so it's revving a little high.....it still idles for a few seconds...a little longer....then dies again? I'd had the carb off the night before - cleaned it all out......as the bike runs fine during the rest of the throttle response I'm guessing it can't be a jetting / air-fuel screw issue..... so I'm stumped... Anybody shed any light on this one...? Cheers

  9. Having rebuilt the forks on my '97 315 now I've come to fit the new headset bearings I've found that the top one doesn't slide easily over the thread on the stem tube. It's the right bearing so before I go any further what's my plan of action so as to not damage the thread - heat the bearing, freeze the stem or should it just knock it on?

Hello I would like to put Fat Bars on my 315. Can you just change the top and bottom clamps to suit on the original top yoke or do you need to put a new top yoke on? Preferably I want vertical clamps without the mont standard tiller. Thanks Dave

  11. Hey, I've got a new to me '00 Cota 315r and am changing all the fluids. The manual says to use ELF HTX 740 in the gearbox/clutch, and I've seen on this site that Silkolene SRG75 is a suitable replacement. Both are hard to find around here. I saw in an older post that some guys run ATF in their 315's and was wondering what's the concensus on this? What kind of ATF and does it do the job, or should I track down the other stuff? When I drained the old fluid it was sort of a clearish color and smelled like gear oil - but the clutch has been working great. -John

Guys, Something's not right with my carb. Have searched through old posts, and got a few hints of what the problem might be, but just wanted to chuck this out there anyway... Basically the bike won't idle evenly, instead it surges (if that makes any sense) once the throttle is blipped before it returns to a tick over. However, the above does not happen when the choke is ON. Any ideas? Cheers - Boner.

I recently bought a 315 (1999 Model) The bike was running when I bought it but will not start now. It has been standing for a while but has fuel in the carb. I have removed the spark plug & can see there is no spark. The kill switch wiring does not look original but buzzes out for continuity. Sounds electrical. Does anyone have any test data for the stator assembly or is there any checks I can try on the CDi unit. I am not a 2 stroke expert but am an engineer, I was hoping the staying on the bike would be the problem, not getting it going. Any help please Geoff Abraham

Hi All, After spending an afternoon in the garage I was feeling really pleased with myself as I'd managed to bleed a spongy rear brake this was after trying various methods including syringes and reverse bleeding/regular bleeding covering myself with fluid etc etc.. I managed to get the job done after taking the back of the bike off and bleeding the master cylinder. Anyhow after putting everything back together I thought I'd start her up! usually a two kick affair from cold and one kick when hot! after ten kicks nought!! At that point I remembered last time I was out I was riding back to the van and the bike cut out as if it had run out of petrol tho…

My 315 was running fine a while ago but has been sat for about 6 months due to a house move so when I recently started it up it didn't want to tickover so thought I'd clean the carb, did as I usually do cleaning the jets and put it back together, I noticed from the facebook page that the floats were upside down so turned them so the flats were to the top but it won't flow fuel at all like that and as best as i can measure it the float height is set at 18.5mm (don't have the tool but using a pair of calipers it looks close) so put them curved side up. start it up and it will sit happy on choke but take the choke off and it will rev cleanly but as it drops back down t…

Hi guys. I'm in the middle of replacing the [Paoli] fork seals on my 315 and I have a couple of questions. So far I've removed the forks and taken the top caps off each each one, but 1) On the left (spring, compression?) side I'm having a problem getting the slider out of the stantion - should it come out using just the 'slide hammer' action with the stantion in one hand and the slider in the other?? Or should I be removing the innards before the slider comes off? 2) On the right (no spring, rebound?) side I've got the slider out but the seal, etc stayed in the stantion, although they did start to come out. Should I just use a screwdriver to prise the seal, etc out…
