  1. Personally I'd get it powder coated. It's a little more expensive than having it painted, but I had my Beezer frame done in 1992 and it's still good. As has been pointed out, 2 pack is in fact deadly dangerous. I'd avoid using it without proper safety kit.
  2. Hi, yes it is coming from the breather. I checked the o/p shaft and gear selector shaft, and no traces. I couldn't work out how it was getting down to the footpeg mount. It's because the breather pipe exits just above, behind the frame downtube. There is also misting around the elbow that the breather pipe fits on to. Not done any checking behind the covers, but I guess the next job will be an oil change. With any luck, any crap that may be causing a blockage in the clutch bolt will come out with the old oil. I'm intending to take the cutch cover off over the winter for a repaint anyway, so I can have a good snoop around then. Thanks for the help.
  3. Bearing in mind the age of the bike, is it feasible that the rear spring could be clapped out? I can't get the sag right(too much) and I have used up all the adjustment. I have had the bike nearly a year and don't ride it hard, I've only just started red route. I have no idea how it has been treated by previous owners, but the general state of the bike wouldn't lead me to think it has had a lot of abuse. The main reason I am concerend is that the front end tends to lose grip and push out on tight turns, which could apparently be caused by a soft rear shock (as well as my crap technique).
  4. Hi All, recently I have noticed that, following a trial, I am finding a pool of gearbox oil on the floor under the bike the next day. It is clearly coming from the breather pipe, as if there is too much oil in the box. The bike is parked leaning towards that side, but not at such an angle that the oil can pour out. Nothing has changed, I have not done anything with the oil level and the bike is parked the same as always. The oil level is not high and this has only started happening recently. Any ideas?
  5. I recently bought a Spada helmet. Really comfy, more so than the Hebo which was nearly twice the price. Looks the part, and has a removeable liner. Diadora Stone3 oiled boots, doing ok so far, not immersed them yet but they have the waterproof liner. Try to go with what is comfortable rather than worry about branding. We are all different shapes and sizes, try as much stuff on as you can.
  6. Hi G-G. It was your thread on the subject that prompted me to check. I'm glad I did, it was not pretty in there. Given it a good clean out and if it's sealed properly it should be no bother.
  7. Well done. I got to see the Motegi round thanks to this little tip.
  8. I think Bigfoot is right. Take it to your nearest G-G dealer and he should be willing and able to sort it and pass on the cost to the original vendor. As for wear and tear, it's a 4 month old bike for gawds sake. How much use can you have had out of it? Good luck with it.
  9. Hmmmm, I thouht as much. Having read through some of the threads on here it seems moisture ingress is a common problem with this cover. Silicone it is.
  10. They seem fairly crap and I'm thinking of using silicone or blue hylomar instead. Has anyone else tried this?
  11. Hi Sid, welcome. Lots going on here in Sussex, as you may or may not know. Good luck with it.
  12. Hi Scotty, mine was like that when I bought it. New ones are only a tenner from Haven, but I treated mine with the wifes hairdryer. Get it nice and warm and yank it into place. Clamp it up to the carb inlet and allow it to cool. So far, 2 trials later, it's still ok.
  13. Ha ha! If only life was that kind. I never power wash mine, just use a hose. Mine started fine from cold, was clearly not right once it had warmed up and then was hard to get going after 15-20 minute break.
  14. hahaha, what a coincidence. That's where I've been too, with Kelly. I found his trips nicely challenging. Had some epic flying in Mayrhofen, loved the grub in Bassano. He's a good lad Kelly, but he can get a bit stressed.
  15. Keep us posted with this one GG if you wouldn't mind, mine has started showing similar syptoms today. It might just be a blocked pilot jet, but you never know.....
  16. The problem with regular washing is that you will remove any oil in the leather. Unfortunately it sounds like yours have already been damaged by this process. You could try reclaiming them with some leather grease from Heine Gericke (motorcycle clothing specialist), and apply liberally. Leave it to soak in over the course of a few days and repeat applications if it looks like it's doing the job. This treatment will make the boots a bit softer, but they will protect you better since a shagged boot is more likely to tear in an impact. I use this stuff on my Stone 3's and all my road gear, leathers boots and gloves and it is top notch. Hope this helps. Paul.
  17. I'm having this problem right now with a Michelin. I didn't think to check for moulding tags before I stuck it on the rim. I used some goop which has certainly made a big improvent, but not cured it. I'll be removing any tags before I fit my next tyre.
  18. I used goop for a leak on the tyre bead. It worked eventually. I tried it on a road bike and it was utterly hopeless.
  19. Hi Andy sorry to hear about the bike. I've been considering some lightweight kit, but I'm not making enough use of the gear of got. I live near Brighton and belong to the southern club. We have the biggest membership list and the fewest number of sites. Mid-airs are almost run of the mill. I've done some flying in Austria and Italy, they don't know how lucky they are! Good luck with the rebuild. Paul.
  20. Hi Andy. Welcome. How do you get on carrying the wing on the bike? I paraglide too, but not sure I'd be able to stay on the bike with my kit. What sites do you fly? I've visited a few S.E. Wales sites, Fochriw, Abertysswg and Pandy, and it's a beautiful place to fly.
  21. hahaha! No seat. Shocked me too to be honest. Everything had a seat in my yoof. But don't worry, you'll get used to it pretty quickly. I'm another impending crumbly, but not quite as impending as you. Welcome, by the way.
  22. Photo 2, absolute classic. Made I larrfff.
  23. I think, GII, your response was a bit unfair. HoggyF has admitted to being new to the scene and was merely asking for opinions, and was not trying to tell people what they should be doing. As has already been said, for some people it's a bit of fun, an excuse to get out of the house and meet up with the guys. Others take it more seriously. Neither is right or wrong. People ride trials for their own reasons and we shouldn't second guess their motivations. As long as you are enjoying yourself, why worry about it?
  24. Hi Jay, welcome to the site. What part of the world are you in? I got my first trially about a month ago and I'm having a whale of a time.
