  1. When my wife told me to stop impersonating a flamingo I had to put my foot down. I was in an 80's band called prevention! .. They were better than The Cure .. Don't kiss your wife with a runny nose. You might think it's funny, but it's snot You know what they say about cliffhangers......

Do you have a TRS too ?
  3. I do not understand what you are trying to say here? If you have enough technicians to manufacture 80 bikes per day that is great, if you are selling 80 bikes a day that is! It would make no long term economic sense to have that many technicians idle or doing lesser work during the time of non manufacture ( unless the market could afford it) .... and your comment "Profit isn't the same thing as cash either when thinking about manufacturing Return On Investment" - what exactly are you trying to say here? Obviously the term ROI is about the net profit you make on the cost of investment but why are you saying its not the same as cash?

    Trs Bike Unveiled

There has been nothing but praise from everyone who has seen the machine or ridden it. Is the TRS the new TY ?
  5. A Chinese guy comes into the pub and stands next to me and starts drinking a pint of beer I said to him " Do you know any of those martial arts like Kung-Fu, Ju-Jitsu or Karate?" He says " Why da F*k you ask me dat. Is it coz I Chinese ?" "No" I said , " It's because you're drinking my F***ing Beer!"
  6. My point is that no company could afford to have 40 production staff idle ( 40 used as a hypothetical number in this instance) for any period of time and what I mean by idle, is not manufacturing goods which will be sold. They need to be productive becuase if they are stood idle then the business has to cover those costs and it will be you who will be ultimately paying for it in the retail price.
  7. Batch building eh ? Sounds like a fantastic economic option - let's have 40 people work flat out for 2 weeks building a 'batch' then have them sitting around scratching their butts until they are required in 2 months time to build the next 'batch' I can see that makes great financial sense... Seriously, If you have a dedicated workforce that is only making a batch of say 200 bikes then what do they do whilst waiting to make the next 200 bikes? Unless of course they are selling all 200 bikes at a time of course then that makes sense.

Yes of course, and those bikes are well respected in the community as well. It might just be that whilst we talk a lot about other 'performance' parts of the bike, one of the main performance parts could be the frame and it is something we do not focus on that much. Maybe we should?

    Trs Bike Unveiled

I think the secret to the performance of this bike is in two things - Firstly the motor - Modelled on the performance of the GasGas which has been undoubtedly the most popular trials bike for a decade and secondly, the frame design. It has just occurred to me that this is the secret of Jordi Tarres machine designs. The fact that he went for a solid frame in the JTG and did the same for the TRS says everything. The comments thus far are that the bike feels 'planted' and I think the torsional forces acting on the frame and how the frame deals with it have been wholly underestimated in a quest for low weight when everyone went to tubular frames. So for the people thinking that this bike is nothing special, they may be wrong !

    Trs Bike Unveiled

Ross Danby & Becky Cook rode the Zona 1 trial after just getting the bikes that morning. With 20 mins on the bike before the trial after setting up handlebar positions etc, Ross went on to win the Expert route and clean the trial. There are lots of pictures about if you look on Facebook and no doubt there are a few more about too. Edit - Got some feedback and the overall opinion from Ross is that the bike is a dream to ride and he likes it a lot. Mick Danby said the bike is well engineered and has all the parts easy to get access to and work on. Jordi has obviously learnt a lot from his first design the JTG , and put a lot of things right with this bike. I cant wait to go over to the Danby's and have a go

    Trs Bike Unveiled

The Spanish seem to be obsessed with the WTC, I just don't get it. It cost's a fortune to compete in on the full circuit and the money in my view would be better spent in local markets providing good local support. That is what would convince me to buy a particular brand.
  12. The difference was Jordi Tarres. He has re-invigorated Raga by working him hard and getting his confidence up. Well done to all concerned and it shows it doesn't need mega-bucks to be successful. There is much more to it than that
  13. It would be cool to see Guy Martin take on the Scott ! So who do you think should get that idea (and others like it) in front of the right people to make that happen?
  14. I disagree - The promotion of trials is down to the governing body (ACU) and other interested parties i.e The manufacturers/importers/suppliers who gain from the sales of their products. The ACU at the top level could do more to promote motorcycle riders and surely no one can disagree with that? Can you see the irony in this comment from Hillary -" As an aside, I saw John McGuinness with the Dunlops in the audience and he was not mentioned either, even though they are probably the only sportspersons who genuinely risk their lives to compete in their chosen sport."
  15. WARNING - There is an email going around offering processed pork, gelatin and salt in a can. If you get this email, do not open it. It's SPAM

    Test Rides

I don't see how it fits in with the Vertigo 'family' ethos.. Families look after one another no matter what so to sell a bike but it's only a one way ticket doesn't fit at all ?
  18. I nicked this one.. A man buys a Budgie, it keeps repeating " Am a Glaswegian Budgie and I'm as hard as F*** " After a week the man gets so fed up he buys a Kestrel and puts it in the cage and says, " Let's see how hard you are now! " Next morning, the Kestrel is dead and the Budgie says again, " Am a Glaswegian Budgie and I'm as hard as F*** " So the man buys a Buzzard and puts that in there and the next morning the Buzzard is dead. The Budgie says again, " " Am a Glaswegian Budgie and I'm as hard as F*** " So the man thinks he has the ultimate answer and buys a Golden Eagle and puts that in there with him.. The next day the Eagle is dead but the budgie has no feathers left.. The Budgie says, " Hid tae take ma jaikit aff for that wee C*** "
  19. Not to us oldies but all kids these days are riding osets and other electric bikes from the outset. Think of the OSET as a TY50 and then you can see how it will go..
  20. I think if that is going to happen, it will only happen if it is electric bikes that they are pushing IMHO
  21. Thanks gasgas249uk - Interesting read! Very ambitious plans and I hope they pull it off. I have for sometime said that the future is electric so they might be onto something here
  22. With respect, there are stupid people in this world with or without money! I have no idea why someone would invest 30 million Euro into GG when their product offer is so limited and with so much other quality competition about ? The obvious thoughts would be to bring their electric bike to trials and enduro at very competitive prices and try and dominate the market. Lobby the authorities to ban petrol engines on environmental grounds forcing us to have electric bikes only.. or maybe as Torrot is a company whose roots are in Catalonia, their motivation may not be just business related.. In relation to holding stock, I would be surprised if there is anyone on these forums who would invest in GG right now as generally, I find most trials folk are a bit switched on to the value of money.
  23. But what are they going to do with GG ? Are they just going to resurrect the old company and continue as before? The comments suggest they want to reinstate all the original staff ( around 80) so there is a tidy wage bill to pay. Things have moved on since the demise of GG and the market isn't as big for as it once was for them with Vertigo and TRS now in the mix. Both quality machines. They lost a fortune before, how are they going to not lose that amount again? This is what I want to know..
