I use 80mls for every 5 litres and always have in my trials bikes, (that's 62:1.)
If I should haeve been using just 50mls, it looks as if I've been wasting 60% of the oil I've been buying all this time
-
agreed, 70:1 is way to rich... I've run 100:1 on my betas for 3 years and they always run sharp at sea level.
100:1 is only 50mls of oil in 5 litres of fuel.... is that really all you use?
By the way; 65mls of oil in 5 litres is actually 77:1

I suppose it boils down to the fact that if you crash going down a stream you go over the bars and fall face first into the water, where as if you crash going up, you are more likely to fall backwards onto your behind.
I don't like downhill sections into water one little bit myself

Looks like you had a good day Spud. Addicts new shiny jeans look the biz!!!!!

I have a strong feeling that this will have been something to do with Jon Bliss. He seems to knock out a steady flow of Jai Ling engined trials bikes, infact he rides one himself and they do seem to be very reliable.
-
Thanks for the offer but we've promised to go and observe at a local club trial which is still running.
As far as the LDT was concerned, we had cut the groups which were on farms, however the Solihull scare was the final straw and we risked upsetting the farmers by even riding past their farms.
Looking at the long term good of the club, it just wasn't worth the risk. Imagine the stigma 'if' somehow we had bought F&M to the Cotswolds. Our club (and trials in the area) would never have lived it down.
It's only a day out for us, it's the farmers living. None-the-less I am still gutted at having to cancel. A big SORRY to all those 116 who had entered.

I have talked to the guy a bit more about the bike and its not in as good condition as i thought!
and he wouldnt come down on the price so i am now looking for a diffrent bike and am looking for a newer model than the ty. so if any one has any more sugestions on a good bike then i would be greatful for your opinion.
Thanks
Henry
Hi Henry,
It depends on your budget... you only get what you pay for.
Obviously the newer the better, however a well looked after old bike is a likely to be a better bet than an abused new bike for similar money.
If you can stretch to
-
If it's in good condition you can't go far wrong with a TY250. They are still quite capable of winning a club trial in the right hands.
You don't say what model it is. The later Pinky had disc brakes which is a huge advantage, the earlier mono's can be made to stop but the drum brakes aren't as efficient and require more care to keep working well.
Let us know how you get on.
-
Hey Ralph... don't let them get to ya just for wearing a baggy shirt!!!!!
-
Yes,... the Scorpa 'might' hold you back a little in Nationals, but at club level they are very competent and in my opinion the easiest 250 to ride.
There again... I'm rubbish, so what would I know? I've even put a slow action throttle on mine due to having poor reactions
-
Due in part to the fact that a good rider on a 20 year old bike can still beat an average one on a new bike. And to some extent all trials bikes are - quite rightly- limited by the tyres.
-
Probably the same as phone sex, some times you just need the direct contact.
Good job some peopple are happy to be just observers then.
-
I've tried the Sherco, montesa and the Beta briefly and I really liked the Sherco... a lot! I just couldn't start it, although it was a 2005 model.
-
Thanks for that. It was a real blow to have the OK Supreme cancelled at this late date, the telephone's have had some stick today. Hopefully everyone now knows.
It just wasn't worth the risk and our very kind and helpful (and ohh so important) land owners were getting nervous, we really didn't have a choice I'm afraid. Sorry for anyone who's been put out by this. I've now got four days off work with nothing to do.
On a positive note, I have another date in October available and if the F&M scare dies down sufficiently over the next two weeks, we may apply for a permit for that date as an alternative. It may not be a round of the Trail bike championship, but just a Club long distance trial. I'll keep you updated about this.
-
Yes, the red tape brigade go into melt down if you do anything in the slightest bit dodgy and they have some real poke if you upset them.
I've had a taste of the problems you might face (not to do with motorsport I must add.)
Imagine having a court injunction taken out against you to return the land to it's original state!
You don't do it- so the council employs a contractor to do it anyway and sends you the bill- which you don't pay, so the council sends in the ballifs.
It's not worth the hassle unless you do it all above board.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I've just been informed that the final round of the Midland Centre Group trials championship - which was to be staged by the Stafford-Auto Club on 14th October - has been cancelled.
-
Funny thing is we have a lot of mud in this area too, and the best riders always seem to be the skinny youngsters who ride everywhere on the back wheel, floating as if by magic over the mud.

The Stratford-Upon-Avon OK Supreme LDT scheduled for this Sunday has been cancelled.
After a great deal of thought and consideration, the Clerk of the Course has asked me to notify as many people as possible that the OK Supreme has been cancelled.
With a suspected foot and mouth outbreak now as near as Solihull, the land owners around the proposed course are rightly concerned that any activity in their vicinity might cause a spread of the disease in the Cotswolds.
The club will attempt to contact all riders and officials with news of the cancellation today.

After a great deal of thought and consideration, the Clerk of the Course has asked me to notify as many people as possible that the OK Supreme has sadly been cancelled.

Pricey is a relative term. You can be comepetitive on a good reliable trials bike for under
-
Yep, that's what I meant when I said 180 deg. I would love to be able to do that!
-
Yes, even I can do 180mm but 180 degrees... now thats a different matter
