  1. Broke my back, punctured my lungs and paralysed one arm above shoulder height in the 80's so I ride like a whimp these days.. the old war wounds are catching me up..... so I ride the easy stuff. That's my protection
  2. After yeras of wearing AlpineStars, I've had two pairs of Gars (which last about three years each). I tried on a number of other makes at the Dirt bike show and liked the feel of the Sidi's but couldn't find a pair to buy, so went for the latest NovoGars. These are a lot different to the old ones and Crosser recons that the soles will wear a lot better but they will need to be worn in for a while as they certainly are stiffer than the previous model.
  3. Possibly the head gasket/O ring failed?
  4. You don't get a shock when you turn your bike on, so I would have thought it was a simple thing to do. Perhaps you would need to wire it up through a solenoid switch, so that the current doesn't actually go through the switch itself?
  5. Nice one Just. It would be a simple thing to wire in a bike (or car) ignition switch which could be turned off and on with a key. You could mount it in the door just above the handle so that you were less likely to forget yourself. Did you get a look at the thieves? Do you know what scared them off?

    4stroke Finale

Its amazing that five people have bid over
  7. Don't put Beta stickers on your Scorpa, it would go a lot better.... until the stator packed in!
  8. Then attach a wire to a large suspended bucket of tar and feathers right over their heads!
  9. One of my work mates had his Raptor Quad taken from his garage, the following day the poilice spotted it on the road and gave chase at high speed. The young man riding the quad lost control and hit another car and was serioulsy injured. 12 months on he is still on a life support machine in hospital and his parents are suing the police for engaging in a prolonged high speed chase. What is the world coming to?
  10. Don't - what every you do - take a whole one!!!!!!
  11. Thought just the same thing when I was young..... now I'm old and limp, it takes me 15 minutes to get down the stairs in the morning and cold weather makes me ache. I sure wish I'd looked after myself better when I was young, but I don't expect anyone young to listen... I didn't.
  12. How about a Doug Lampkin Beta replica lycra suit to go with the replica Beta trials bike? One size fit's all, then we could all look like our hero for real.

    Dead Rev3?

The first stator which went on my new '04 Rev3 just stopped working without any warning, the (free) replacement one lasted five trials before it began to misfire, loose power then eventually stopped - mid trial. My lad also had an '04 200 which ran for three years no problems at all, but 200's have different stators/cdi's to the 250 and 270's.
  14. The listing has been updated to say the forks are the wrong way around.
  15. I'd agree with you on both those counts. Sounds logical to me, especially with Dougs 4RT experience.
  16. Thanks for that John. I'm afraid that the situation doesn't really help with the problem which we now face ourselves. We have been criticised by a Steward for not examining machines, so we started doing so. However we don't have a qualified examiner, we aren't recording the findings and we're not even sure to what degree we should be checking. But the important thing is that we are checking.... providing we can persuade someone to do it next time that is.
  17. How about the you tube video of Raga (can't find the link now) doing a rock section with the front forks out! Now that's what you call hopping! To all those people who say they can hop, how many of you can do it in a section without actually stopping and 'supposedly' getting a five?
  18. Yes. To beat Mark Hicken on home ground is a very good ride indeed! Well done Rob.
  19. A sensible reply Woody. However this doesn't solve the dilema that I am in with our event. We were critisised (quite rightly according to the hand book) for not checking machines, but we now find ourselves unable to identify the standard that they should be checked to and indeed who should be doing it. (And for that matter, how to record that it has been done!) A common standard.... or just leave it to the rider.
  20. I also feel quite strongly that we should all be examining machines to the same standard and that the results of the checks should be recorded. That should be every machine checked and not just the ones with faults, otherwise we (the organisers) would not know if someone had simply missed the check. Plus; the handbokk doesn't mention any particular level. It states all events, therefore we should be doing these checks at every club trial and I for one have never had my bike checked at a club event!
  21. Yes, that follows on nicely from the point my machine examiner was making should an 'incident' arise. Who tells the examiner to what standard they should be examining? In this case.... What constitutes a transmission guard?
