I feel left out now. I didn't get the email

As far as motocross style hand guards are concerned, you have to weigh up the pro's and cons'
Some protection for the fingers- against the possibility that they will catch on obstacles and worse maybe trap your arms as you go over the bars snapping both wrists.
Maybe a pair of armoured road racing gloves would be a good compramise?

We are talking about the natural progression of competition machines. Just look at some of ythe ideas Sammy Miller, Mick Grant, Jon Bliss and the like have experimented with over the years.
I don't believe traction control will turn out to be an advantage, but I'm all for manufacturers trying it and anything else they think might work.
If (and as you say it's a big IF) riders start turning up at club trials with traction control (or any other mechanical aid), it means that the technology has worked and has been introduced at an affordable price and accepted by the Governing bodies.
There will be classes for machines which do not have the technology. The best riders will still win.
Did we turn away the first mono shock machines when they were introduced?
Did we turn away tubless tyres?
Did we turn away light weight machines with no seats?

Oil will run out but way before that happens it will become too expensive to use for every day activities. It's at this point that alternative forms of energy will become cost effective and will replace oil based fuels.
Demand will dictate that alternative fuels become readily available at an affordable price and there are plenty of companys ready and waiting to meet that demand. The question is how many years into the future will this be?

Traction control.... peanuts to HRC. Remember six cylinder 250's? Oval pistons? etc etc
If HRC think that spending 1,000,000 yen on their GP bike will give them 1/100 th of a second per lap then they will do it. No questions.. do it.
Similarly, if they think developing traction control on a trials bike will save their WTC riders 1 mark a lap, then to HRC it's a good idea!
How that effects us at the bottom of the sport is totally irrelevant.
It's this kind of development that moves technology on. The Japanese are good at this and I for one welcome it.
If it gives an unfair advantage or ruins the sport then it's up to the Governing bodies to create a level playing field with the use of regulations.

The ACU often get some stick but now we can see what they have to put up with.
-
I didn't get along in the end to watch, did anyone ride? If so, did you enjoy the day?
The results are available on the Wetern Centre Web site, it looked like a good event from the scores.

I use Castrol TTS fully synthetic oil.
80ml to 5 litres of fuel.
-
Is the piston moving full in the master cylinder?
If it doesn't move enough, it won't draw more fliud in from the reservoir.
Anothe idea, does the efficiency come back when everything cools down?
I was wondering if your problem is the pads overheating?

Coming down south a little, I've used a chap named Bill North in Worcester in the past. Does anyone know if Bill is still in business, he must be getting on a bit now?

Today 3rd Feb.
73 riders have now entered for the Colmore Cup, the third round of the Clubmans Championship on the 4th March.
Clerk of the Course Alan Wright would like to remind all riders that; as this years Colmore is a Clubmans round, the sections will be easier than the last three years when the Colmore was a stand alone National.
The Colmore will be aimed at Clubmen this year!
The course will take riders around a 25 mile loop of the Cotwosld Hills visiting groups at Dovedale, Bridges, Camp, Grove, Top Farm, Saintbury Quarry, Western Wood returning to a new set of sections at Dovedale.
New for this year, all riders will receive refreshments at the half way punch card change at Top Farm where there will be five sections in the steep wood right at the sumit of the Cotswold hills above Broadway.
There is a 100 rider limit on this event, so anyone still thinking of riding in the Colmore should get their entries in fast. See the link above.

Goodness me, it seems as if you have just about covered it there. Well done.

Try pushing the pistons a bit further back into the caliper and sliding a thin spacer each side of the disc so that there is less fluid/air trapped behind them.
Also just to be sure, check that your hose hasn't been damaged at some point allowing it to expand when pressure is applied.

I asked this very question a few weeks ago,
Click Here to find the thread.
-
I might go along and have a look.
The entry form and information can be found here

For everything below BTC you will find the rules in the ACU handbook on page 155 & 156
TSR22 Stop permitted (A stop is a one)
TSR22B Non-Stop (A stop is a five)
This thread is all to do with the BTC rules which are under discussion tomorrow. So watch this space.

John,
Good luck with this weekends BTC rules meeting. Let us know how things go.

As I can remember, the only other place that I've ridden with the Dudley club is Mamble Farm. Also an excellent place to hold an event.

Going completely off topic, here for a moment. I was teaching an apprentice mechanic a few years ago on a vehicle when a simple maths problem arose.
He was immediately heading for a calculator, I stopped him and said we could do it on a bit of cardboard from the bin using a pencil. He looked puzzled, as I worked out the calculation using long division.
He insisted on going for the calcualtor which confirmed my answer but looked even more confused at my working out, he then said 'I've never seen that before. Did you just make that up?'
The suprising thing was that the youngster had recently come to us from sixth form college where he had gained an A level ....... In maths!
The youth of today, ehh!

I agree with most of the points you make. However, the generation of people who fought to maintain standards also fought to give people freedom of speech and expression.
I do find txt talk annoying and difficult to understand, but if this is what people wish to use within their own circles of friends then I see nothing wrong with that. Providing, like seandellear says, people use it in an appropriate manner and not to communicate in a 'non' txt talk environment.
-
Good advice. It sounds as if you are talking from experience on this one.
-
I have a young relative who uses Bebo to communicate with her friends and others the txt talk which is used on there is total garbage.
It must take longer to type than plain english and far longer to read.
But hey..... it's Kool! Within that 'very limited' peer group.

Congratulation to the Stratford-Upon-Avon & Dudley Group trials team for a joint win the in Dudley round of the Group trials Championship.
Stratford are now leading the championship 2045 points to Dudleys 2004 with Leamington Victory in third on 1834.
John Cowley made the tight turns of the A route look easy with a win on just nine marks lost by virtue of the furthest clean tie break with Buster Reagan also on nine. Shaun Fox was third on 11 two better than Ben Sprigg.
Clive Charlton won the easier B route on just three by virtue of the furthest clean tie break with Andy Reagan. Scott Cartwright was third on 9 with Mick Chapman next on 11 marks lost.
Thanks to the Dudley Club for staging such a good event.
The next round of the Midland Centre Group trial championships will be at Mamble farm on 11th Feb.

Not being funny. I used to use 400 ml of synthetic motor oil and the clutch was on and off like a light switch. Now that I use synthetic ATF the clutch actually works. I drain all of the ATF out using both the bottom and side plugs. 600 ml of ATF goes in easily.
I presume actually get 600ml out then?
