I know this is a long shot but someone in this website is bound to have a complete collection of SSDT programmes so where better to ask. In either the '72 or '74 programme there was a b&w picture of spectators watching a rider going through a section at Ben Nevis (I think it may even have been Malcolm Rathmell) and it just happened that me and my dad were in the photo. I used to havre a copy but managed to misplace it over the years. I know it's a long shot but if anyone has a copy could you please post it or e-mail me a scan of the picture. For all I know someone may even have al the programmes online already. Thanks.

I agree with the previous poster that Dougie and Fuji have been hiding behind this getting used to the new 4RT for far to long. Bou has proven the 4RT is a world beater. Well done that man. Hope he can repeat his performances outdoor. Besides that the shear number of 4RTs in this years SSDT speak volumes. VIVA MONTESA !!!!!!!!!

For me it's the Saturday at the Nevis Forest (the last sections before town hall brae). They have been a good addition over the last 2 years and make for a good days picnic in what is probably some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland. Top that with only 10-15 mins walk from the main road and a chance to see riders that I never get the chance to usually see.

There are about 20 people who more than capable of winning it's just a matter of who gets the breaks when it counts most and manages to keep their concentration throughout the week. But maybe we will get a surprise. Whatever I'm sure it will be as cracking an event as ever and well worth going up to. Besides I get free digs & drink and use it as an excuse to see the folks at the same time.

At most events like the SSDT the police kind of turn a blind eye to the road legality of the bikes as long as they are reasonably roadworthy of course.

As far as I am aware the events does not start until Sunday so if anything there will only be practice on Sat. Some of the sections last year were down by the lochside which is just a short walk, others are not too far away. They are not in the middle of nowhere like some of the SSDT sections. Andy the admin of this board should be able to help you try PMing him as he is booked into the local Macdonalds hotel in Kinlochleven and should be able to give you the start time. Sunday the 2nd OCtober at Kinlochleven. It's not that big a place so just follow the crowd or ask the friendly locals. It's a pity you had not asked a week earlier as my folks stay in Fort William and I was going to go and see the event. I stay in Aberdeen like yourself but the missus could not be bothered. If I'd have found a like minded person we could have gone up together as the folks are on holiday so free digs to boot !!!!
