Judging by the statement made by L & M this could be the last UK mainland WTC for a few years and probably Doug's last.
It would therefore only seem right that we all make this a Trials Central party to remember.
I wonder if we can the ambassador of trials himself to come along for a glass of Red Bull?
-
I've notice there's not many responses, on the topic, from people from Wales.
-
In defence of Eddy L he did say that he didn't think Doug was a good ambassador for the sport not the Lampkin Family. So he is only totally and utterly wrong on one acount.
-
I take it your still talking about Dougie.

A Banbury senior citizen drove his brand new BMW Z3 convertible out of
the car salesroom. Taking off down the motorway, he floored it to 90
mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left.
"Amazing!" he thought as he flew down the M40, enjoying pushing the
pedal to the metal even more. Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw a
police car behind him, blue lights flashing and siren blaring.
"I can get away from him - no problem!" thought the elderly nutcase as
he floored it to 110mph, then 120, then 130mph.
Suddenly, he thought, "What on earth am I doing? I'm too old for this
nonsense!" So he pulled over to the side of the road and waited for the
police car to catch up with him.
Pulling in behind him, the police officer walked up to the driver's
side of the BMW, looked at his watch and said, "Sir, my shift ends in
10 minutes. Today is Friday and I'm taking off for the weekend. If you
can give me a reason why you were speeding that I've never heard
before, I'll let you go."
The man, looked very seriously at the policeman, and replied, "Years
ago, my wife ran off with a policeman. I thought you were bringing her
back."
"Have a good day, Sir," said the policeman

Its reported on a Spanish website (no guesses which one) that Jeroni Fajardo needs an operation on a wrist injury. It is hopeful that he will be back in action for the opening Spanish Round of the WTC. Poor lad seems to suffer with more than his fair share of injuries.
-
I think Eddy L has lit the blue touch paper and taken a step back.
-
On his day is a bit of a sweeping statement.
To win a WTC you have to be on your day more often than the opposition is. Thats how Bou has won the indoor WTC.
I notice in the Montesa HRC Report all 3 riders refer to 'the Team'. Could this new found 'team spirit' lead to a Montesa HRC 1-2-3 in the outdoor WTC?
It is undoubtedly one hell of a team.
-
Remember if your riding your trials bike with a Brazilian football shirt on and the Police shout for you to stop......STOP.
-
I don't think for one minute that Fuji and Doug have been hiding behind the 4RT indoors. The simple truth is they are not as good indoors as the young Spanish riders, who also have the added advantage of a domestic indoors championship.
However, outdoors is where its really at.
-
Dougie's success has undoubteldy increased the profile of trials not just in the UK but worldwide. He is a true and model professional as well as the sports most successful rider. Having been lucky enough to have met Doug on several occassions what really strikes me about the guy is how down to earth he is, always willing to stop and talk.
Whilst Eddy L might not think him an ambassador for the sport I'm sure i'm not alone in absolutely disagreeing 100%.
It will be a sad day for the sport when Doug eventually does hang up his Alpine Stars but I still think there's a few years left in him and at least a 100 WTC win and possibly a number 8 title.
-
Andy,
If I'm not mistaken the idea behind trials is to keep your feet firmly off the ground!
But well done to Bou. I for one did not think he would win the indoor title. I thought that the skill and experience of Raga and the Spanish 2006 indoor champion, Caby, would be too much for the youngster, learning to get to grips with the 4RT. I'm very pleased to admit that once again I have been proven wrong.
The real test, will be the outdoor series. Indoors the bar has been raised, but is it possible he can do the same outdoors? One thing is for sure that this coming outdoor WTC will be the most open in years.
If your refering to Doug do you not mean the World's greatest trials rider? 7 Outdoor, 5 indoor and 99 WTC round wins.

Any thoughts on which organisations are interested in the 2008 contract?

Evidently the Argentinian Round is very popular for spectators with last years event in Buenos Airies having a full house. No reason as been given for the cancellation and it isn't even mentioned on Octagons Indoor website.
Fair enough its a long distance to travel for the riders, but it is a World and not just Spanish Indoor Championship.
No doubt that Cabestany and Raga are furious that their slim chance of catching Bou as all but diminished.
Octagon couldn't run a bath!
-
I've drawn the line at owning the one piece suit, the motor home would be taking it a bit too far!
-
That well known organiser of indoor trials has cancelled the Argentinian round of the indoor WTC.
That means Raga has only the two remaining rounds Majorca and Madrid to somehow manage to prevent the inevitable coronation of the new heir apparent Dynamite Bou.
Whilst this years riding, especially the talents of Bou, has revived interest in the indoor series, its seems as if Octagon are doing their very best to turn it into one big farce.
-
I wonder if it has a trophy room as
well?
Hello Moto
Imagine turning up to your local club trial in that.
-
Are by any chance Ryanair part of the Octagon Group?
-
Having not got a ride I was a little dismayed and disappointed at the number of non starters. Cannot see the point in not turning out for such a good trial. However my time wasn't wasted shopping with the kitchen knife I took her to watch a football match!!!
