  1. Excellent vid, shows just how exaggerated the body english is.Thanks for help guys
  2. No good for me sir as I play bass....I'll slap a few Mark Adams choons out and then jump on Speedy 'n see if the funk helps. May the funk be with you.
  3. Took a lot of calls to track down a pair of rears today. I'm told no more expected until December and prices on the up again.
  4. Good point....I'm off to file them all off the SWM now, front AND back for added fastness
  5. I think the old girl may need a new front sprocket
  6. Found this link if anyone else needs help. Models with pics but larger engined variants only.
  7. Hmm.....according to gasser site this could be a 1999. Decals do read Contact TXT125
  8. Ouch, fair old clout on the n/s frame but shouldn't be a deal breaker?
  9. Yes, I know its an old 'ern but their is one local'ish to me for sale at a reasonable price. From what I remember they were a sound well built bike in their day befoe the early Pro's? Anything other than the usual for an old bike to look for? It's only for an occasional use for when the SWM is being fettled so not expecting great shakes. I should add maybe a 2001? It's only what I think it is, nothing in ad'! See picture. many thanks guys
  10. Pulling the trigger on a new rear tyre, my riding buddy tells me I should go for a IRC locally at £75 inclusive. Are they OK on SWM standard rims? Currently running a 4 year old Michelin, that's hard as nails, which has never sat right on the rim properly, one side is always higher than the other no matter how many times we fit the tyre so I look like (yes, I know and ride like!) Coco the Clown
  11. Fantastic find. We got married at Hartland Abbey back in err....sorta....2008'ish....I hope the wife don't read this! We always stay at Gawlish Farm BnB John and Jill and I feel it's about time we revisited and maybe explore all that Hartland has to offer....
  12. Yup, not enough lean and not enough pokey out knees....put in some practice today but bad habits are a pain to unlearn. I wish I'd taken some proper tuition when I started trials. Thanks for the help guys
  13. I wore my enduro helmet all day at Corten Trials Park today. I had been wearing it whilst practicing in my woods but Corten was the big test for me. I now don't think about it being odd. DIdn't get any hotter than if I'd worn my open face and with the nasty lumps of concrete they have at Corten, I gota say I felt a tad more comfortable in the super slippery conditions. As for vision, not an issue....one might say if you are looking down where the chin guard is maybe you should be looking further up the section. I've purchase a Six Six One helmet as in the start of the thread as its 50% lighter with more vents so I'll chime back when I've tried that. Its all a very personal thing but I can't see my self going back to open face at the moment. hope this helps
  14. As with the Wulfsport gloves I used these today at Corten in the cold and rain and wished I had bought them years ago. Size fits well too. I got the bottoms at Sports Direct in a sale for £4, usually £10, same as the top but even for £20 the pair great value as they do what say on the tin.
  15. Been at Corten Trials Park today and it was cold, frost on ground when we left home. It also rained on and off all day. I bought some black Wulfsport neoprene trials gloves and this was the first time I used them. Toasty warm hands and fingers all day, thin enough not to notice them. I really suffer from the cold although on the plus side I can sit out in 42c all day lounging around. I bought large as my hands are 10cm across the palm and they fit correctly. Excellent purchase for £18, wish I'd bought some years ago. Tried everywhere for grey but not around in large and Wulfsport are dropping the grey according to my supplier...?
  16. Some great points there guys. Been watching some vids this afternoon.....theres a lot of guys with their feet on the very outside of the outside footpeg and rolling there ankle out too......theres a LOT more to these turns than meets the eye!
  17. Currently using a slow action throttle on mine AND lower gearing than standard.....and she is quite a tame old thing at the moment. For ref' Domino use a black throttle tube for slow and white tube for quick.

    Compression

Lots of compression = engine in good fettle. One way to easier kicking is to slowly ease her past top dead centre (piston at top of stroke) and then kick her over smartly. A lots of beefy adults struggle to kick a decent trials bike over....the short kickstarts dont help. My SWM has a decompressor which I wouldn't be without now, but modern bikes dont have this feature.
  19. Just been out for a quick pootle about in my woods...very lucky in the that respect. Been practicing very slow/stopping/start tight turns and when (it's never 'if' with me ) we go off balance, its always the inside foot that goes down. I've even tried to force myself to over balance on outside foot but my head just can't do it. ....I know the bike wants to fall 'into' the inside due to the physics, but then I should be allowing for this with my balance, but, I never over balance to the outside.
  20. not a bad choice as it happens. We used to do the green lanes, find some silly hill climbs etc around Kent. One evening during a very muddy spell one of the guys Pumpkins had blown up or something had broken as usual and he took his Climber....well it turns out he was waiting around most of time for the rest of the guys to catch up.
  21. thinking that thru...I must of been around 13 when that frame was plated so that would be 1976...
  22. I've seen a Nickel plated Sherpa before, a long time ago at a trial in Cliffe Marshes In Kent....mid to late 70's. I remember the particular bike as my friend's father had it done as a favour at a platers down in Dover. Part of a job lot for Marconi's (or Elliotts Aviation as it was?).The guy wanted the frame chromed but the platers talked him out of it saying this could make the frame brittle and suggested Nickel as being better engineering solution. hmm....I can still smell the platers and the picture the sight of hundreds of ping pong balls floating on top of the tanks....I think we used to go to tarmac hill climb down that way, cars mainly but a few bikes too. ...I'm amazed I remember all that, but I'm shallow and always liked shiny bright things....this is one of my gixers's
