Sorry I am leading you all astray
I have plenty of photographs but I need what is effectively a drawing or sketch type image, such as you might fing on awards etc. It would be of no particular rider, and could almost be like a cartoon type of image
-
Can anyone out there help.
I'm organising mugs for this years inter centre team trial and I need an action image of a trials rider on a bike to go on the front of the mug.
There are hundreds of road racing and motox but I'm struggling to find a trial version. I've tried working on photographs but the programme I'm working with doesn't understand my commands!
Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction

There's a picture of him riding at Westmorland's Lonsdale cup last Sunday. Look at home page of TC at thev moment - Westmorland Motor Club - photos. It's the third picture down on the left on the first page, watched by a laughing Paul Lowther

As I remember from my '86 TLR's both brakes were basically the same on both 250 and 200 versions.
Looking at the two on offer the US version looks right except that the original arms on the TLR were alloy and that looks steel and a slightly different curve, but I'm 99% sure it will fit.
The UK one on ebay doesn't look right to me as there was a speedo drove on the TLR's as can be seen on the US one and also the cut out for the fork boss (the stop) doesn't look right. It might fit but I'm sure it's not off a TLR. Hope this helps

Agree with all the messages so far. Thanks for all your efforts this year Gordon. Makes me think of how we used to have to wait till the Thursday or Friday post to get the previous Sunday's results, but we now have them posted as early as 8 o'clock same night and we now moan if they're not on by nine! At the same time well done to all the NE secretaries for getting them to Gordon in the first place
-
Aaah, now I understand, thanks for explaining

That's good advice. I know saftek as I deal with them a lot with work. We reline large brake shoes up to 12 feet long a 18inches wide and discs etc. up to 7ft diameter and the only proper way to ensure a good job is to have them bonded on and then baked in an oven. Not doing this would allow water and dampness getting between lining and shoe and it would come away sooner or later. Bonding them properly would prevent this. It is easier to attach lining to old brake pads as you mentioned as they could be clamped really tight in a vice, once glued, but you need correct size bands and clamps to do this on a pair of shoes.
-
You need to contact these
http://www.saftek.co.uk/vintage/contactdetails.html
they will fit 4.5mm or 4.8mm and then radial profile them to whatever you want (4mm)
they will probably put a material called "green gripper" on, which is excellent for trials but will need a small amount of bedding in
hope this helps

I've done a few of these some time ago and have always replaced the bearings.
I'm trying to think of the procedure and I'm fairly certain I put the crank assy back into the crankcases first, then I put the seals afterwards. You might like to check if this is possible, as without the engine stripped down in front of you it's difficult to picture accurately.
Hope this helps

Saw one in a second hand bookshop a year ago, not signed and it had a price tag of

Shercoholic, thanks a lot for this link - I couldn't find this when I glanced through.
It will have saved me a lot of time as I haven't had the chance to sort it yet
Much appreciated

Baldilocks, Is that why you like wide sections, with the flags as far apart as possible. Can I pop round and cut your silencer open to check what it should be like inside

Many thanks for that, I'll get stuck in tonight and see what I can do
-
Has anyone cut open a Sherco silencer and repaired/repacked it. Mines a 2006 and is rattling as though something is loose inside, no doubt a baffle or inner pipe. I wondered if anyone had advice on which way to cut it open and what to expect once this is done. I assume it would need to be welded back up again unless there's an alternative.

Gary, there's plenty of places to stay either in FW or maybe as far as Corpach which is about 3 miles away. You could start with the ssdt.org website which lists a few places then go from there to the Lochaber/Fort William tourist board who will send you a booklet. If there's a few of you and you don't mind making your own breakfast, consider renting a static caravan, overall it might work out a bit cheaper depends on the numbers.

It's actually 30x1.5mm. At least that's what's stamped on mine!!

From what I remember they were one of the first Ossa dealers, maybe even the only one at the time. Before the Mick Andrews Replica models came out around 1973 Ossas had a very large fibreglass tank and seat unit, but Windsor Comp Shop did a version of their own, doing away with this and replacing it with a neat alloy tank, alloy rear fender and seat. Never actually saw one up in the North East though, the only Ossas we saw were ridden by the late Louis Bertorelli who stuck by them for a good number of years, while everyone else was buying Montesas, Bultacos, Greeves, DOTs Cottons, Dalesman etc.......

If it's the same as a TLR250 - it's a small pushrod if you like - about 1" long top hat shaped large diameter about 1" small diameter about 3/8" (this end would fit inside the casing). The large diameter end pushes against the loose bearing in the clutch housing, when you pull the clutch in. Hope this helps

Latest GAS GAS footrests are excellent quality and bolt straight on
-
latest just put on ssdt.org site but don't get excited yet
-
I have fitted a domino twistgrip to my TL using a REV3 cable complete with the elbow on the carb end without any alterations at all, and you get plenty of adjustment both ways. Best of luck
-
Couldn't agree more. Excellent sections, good run round, a lot of thought went into this trial and it was very well organised, well done castleside :santa1:
