  1. You need a bigger float valve read gas gas ssdt prep
  2. OK but nobody's queried it before and I like the message. Not getting at you Jimmy either but we should be more worried about Keihin carbs which are common on new bikes by gas gas sherco and beta and which leak like the old mikuni on the beta you may be referring to than we are about chain vs shaft drive. Forestry Commission use a biodegradable lube on their chainsaws. We use stuff with pictures of a dead fish on the can....
  3. Reminds me of a funny story. When the USA went into space they developed the Fischer Space Pen to work using an ink pump rather than gravity. Quite a clever piece of kit by all accounts. Not as clever as the Russians however who simply took a pencil. We dont need shaft drive we need biodegradable chain lube which will retro fit everything !
  4. I actually like this but from a different perspective. I want the R&D budget spenton making bikes more environmentally friendly. I want to ride a bike upstream for a mile, take a water sample from the river and prove that there was no pollution. As an organiser that will solve one of my current problems. No land = No sales you would think manufacturers would have thought of that by now.

What rubber is used from air filter to rear of carb when fitting an oko or keihin ?

No cant make sunday. I wanted to try the txr silencer but will need to modify it. Just so happened the full system was a job lot.
  7. Nobody turns a tyre during a trial so why mention carrying tools. Sprocket and disc bolts tend to be loctited in so 8 bolts to warm and remove, clean,re apply loctite. Definitely easier to turn a tubeless tyre.
  8. Post it and ill turn it for you !

Maybe but you must be the only guy on the planet to think sales have increased since then
  10. The trials market probably breaks a number of laws but its too small for it to matter. The term importer makes me laugh. Its a European trade area and the bikes are made in Spain.

I doubt the world market is 10,000 units
  12. I just told him my weight and let him decide. Ill check later
  13. Rock shocks arrived today. Good service, will be getting tested Sunday

Keihin is a more expensive carb than a dellorto and gives smoother power and increased top end. Keihin is not as stable as a dellorto however and will need fine tuning for altitude / weather. Dellorto in my experience is more reliable so I think your experience may be fault related.

But is that because there is only weight on the ignition side ?

Hi Ian I tried that and found a thread with some pics, this maybe what you are thinking of ? The pics are actually of a bultaco silencer as its a similar concept.

Before I get the hacksaw out does anyone have a diagram showing the location of the baffle plates on a 320 ? Have pushed a long screw driver through from where the silencer joins the middle box but cant find anything. The box has been previously welded and im wondering if one or both of the plates has been removed. The baffle tube is still present at the entry point. There is somthing in there rattling as you can hear it when the engine is running but shaking the box it doesn't rattle ?
  18. Fantic to SWM is a bit of a change. Im going from a 2013 280 gas gas to SWM !
  19. My bike had the wrong slide (60) and wrong pilot jet (also 60). For yesterdays trial i fitted the 70 slide specified by Martin and it was 100% better, some improvement was probably down to cleaning the carb i think. I have now ordered the correct pilot jet as i have the mixture screw fully in. Also ordered some rock shocks as rear suspension will be an advantage i think. Next jobs are a new clutch cable and to fix the baffle plate thats rattling inside the exhaust. Really happy with this as a project and having a lot of fun. Bike development is underated in some respects. I put my Gas Gas on the box stand on saturday then did the same with the SWM, its a bit heavier ! You dont realise how much bikes have improved in terms of performance until you have them both to compare. However i do like the heavy flywheel on the SWM, its almost impossible to stall even in third gear. Happy Days...

Its the same principle all you are doing is changing the leverage ratio at the handlebar end rather than the clutch end. If you use the cable hole giving the least travel on the cable it should be lighter.I think the later models had something different done compared to the red swms on the clutch mechanism inside the cover but martin will know better. By the way does yours leak from where the cable enters the case ? Mine does so will need to get the mastic gun out. Is there supposed to be an o ring or seal in there ?

Thanks for the link, I thought that was a lot for you. My bike has wrong slide per Martins spec above so have ordered correct one which should clear up carburation, well that and removing the water I found!

Ross did you say that lever on your bike was made by Apico ? Cant find it in their catalogue. Steve (curry?) rather than extending arm inside case its easier to fit a lever with a different ratio or fit any easy clutch device. Also look in another thread in here what swm fitted to the jumbo framed models.
  23. Thanks Martin No doubt be speaking to you shortly !
