  1. Dabster is right bottom half is the same 250 / 280 / 300.
  2. Piston slap gets worse as the bike warms up. If it is this which is caused by a worn bore / piston it will be most noticble at low rpm. Ie blip the throttle it goes away as it returns to tick over you hear a rattle. In my experience every time you fit a new piston to a worn bore you end up back where you started after a couple of rides. Spend the extra and get the cylinder re coated to match your new piston and it will last a couple of years.
  3. It will be ok on level ground if there is plenty juice in the tank but going uphill with low juice would be an issue.
  4. I think thats the best looking beta in years !
  5. baldilocks replied to seth29's topic in Beta
True you could do that but the port timing would then be out of sync.

Probably better off buying a new head. If it has rubber o rings you cant replace the metal lost by skimming the head with more gaskets. I ran an air cooled yam with out a head gasket to increase compression but it just pinked. Gasket was only 1mm but made quite a difference.
  7. Martin Lampkin Bernie Schrieber Steve Saunders
  8. Its a good little course, its still in the north east centre by the way. If you can ride other NE easy routes this wont be any more difficult
  9. Posted at exactly the same time Paul
  10. No fuel goes to the carb because of gravity. The float valve is supposed to shut off the supply but this isnt effective if the bike is on its side. Excess fuel then runs through the jets and can flood the engine with petrol.
  11. It might be innovative depending who you ask......:-)
  12. Hopefully the person in charge of vertigo stop reading this thread a while back
  13. Have you tried it yet ?
  14. I think you now have to be 19 before you can ride more than a 125 on the road. Not sure why its under 23 but if you are 17/18 and dont want to ride s3 on a 125 then you could ride this.BTC is probably too hard for a lot of people.
  15. How is Xeriotti getting on havent seen a post for a while ?
  16. I wanted a vito for years, finally got one but the rear diff went noisy within a week and within a couple of weeks the garage got sick of trying to fix it and gave me a refund. Bought a trafic next and prefer the trafic to drive plus better mpg. Its has had a clutch but other than that its been ok and I'm now up to 80k
  17. Ossa / sherco air filter. And a linkless rear suspension system.
  18. Given I got £3k for a 2013 GG in November thats not bad. Yes the ossa is more expensive initially but I do think you lose more on each manufacturers factory edition as well. Ie if a raga is £1500 more than a std model you dont get £1500 more for the used one. So the loss on this ossa is reasonably comparable.
  19. Ebay is deemed by some dealers to be an indicator of value when you ask for a part exchange price against a new bike. In terms of cash something is only worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it. What the owner of a bike thinks it is worth is a different thing. We can all defend our favourite brands on tc but ultimately it's the next owners valuation that counts.

Ok im a little harsh with the first response, the second is a thing called humour.

I did once hire a cement mixer, I bought some bricks and built a wall. Hopefully this post is deemed constructive.

Are you kidding ? By the time you left the garage entered the house and posted this you could have had the wheel out. Its one nut then pull the spindle
  23. Its a long time ago but I think it should be four speed with neutral below first not between first and second. it may have a ty50 gear cluster fitted as the crankcases look similar.
  24. Fundamental problem perhaps is not enough people want to ride in the first place and thats related to many more issues than bike cost.
