Id probably have the weight on but depends how good a rider you are. If you usually ride without one stick to what you are used to as you dont have time to adapt.

My local dealer lent me a 2014 250 recently when my old yam died at a trial. I rode two trials on it and marked out another two. Probably put about 8 tanks of juice through it to give an idea of mileage. It started first or second kick every time, no issues with clutch or gearbox at all. Apart from oiling the chain and checking the filter I didn't have to touch it. Just my recent experience to bring a bit of balance to the thread.

North East trials have a lot of new starters at the minute, you sound like the latest !

Actually look at some pics from last couple of years. Raga has been running weights there for a while. Dougie has a steel insert inside the wheel spindle to make the front heavier. They seem to get the bike as light as possible then change the handling by adding weight

Monteberg I have just ordered 5 litres of Stihl biodegradable chain lube for my clubs two day trial. In the uk most trials include rivers. The product mentioned isnt classed as a water pollutant unlike most of the products mentioned in this thread. I did write to two motorcycle oil companies on this issue. One didnt think there was a market for this product the other never replied. Now I have found chainsaw oil im just as pleased. Competitors will be turning up with a dry chain and we will apply lube at the start. In uk conditions most chain lube is gone in 30 mins of the trial starting.

Mechanical issues at Beta in his last few years cost him the Scott and the Scottish. Might have been a factor

Back to the sprocket. Making the sprocket stronger just means you break the hub instead of bending the sprocket ?

Im responding to Dabsters question about Fuji winning day 1. First four riders lost less than 12 marks. This is unusual and increases the chance of a different winner. Great ride by Fuji. Generally regardless of the rules a winner other than Bou is more likely in an easier trial. Gubian has explained he broke his bike on lap 1 and then had to ask for fives elsewhere. Don't know what happened to Brown.

How steep was the drop into the stream ? The bike tipping forward normally causes engine to flood / run rich but if the float is defective ? Heat also does funny things ie expansion. I have seen one kehin carb poorly cast which actually leaked air when hot. Inlet gasket ?

Yes lower the clip to richen the mix. By the way is the fan working ?
