  1. Sounds like piston slap. The watercooled barrel expands more than the piston. To be fair most used bikes more than a couple of years old will have this unless they have been reconditioned, its basically wear on the piston / bore. Check splatshop for piston prices. Re coating cylinder is about £120. Performance is affected but not to a great extent.
  2. Is he back yet ? Rather than download how about subscribers purchase an access code to view content on a website ? No downloads required
  3. Oh and yes you can wear out a Sherco clutch even with six springs.
  4. Did the same Mod on my SWM as the clutch was very heavy, the clutch then started to slip in higher gears. Put the two springs back in would be my advice, its designed to have six springs. What were you trying to achieve ?
  5. Whatever happens next I hope world trials dont go back to those rules.
  6. Had this problem before its usually the spindle seized to the inner bearing race on the right hand side. I used a hot air gun to heat the bearing then tapped it out.
  7. glad your sorted, useful tip is to use a marker pen on the crank nut/bolt and the flywheel itself before you take it off so you know how far to tighten it back up.
  8. Been thinking about this (again!). Currently we have no restrictions on section design. Some of the problems are related to section design. Yes you have to hold a licence to set the sections but that may just relate to the safety / insurance issue rather than what makes a good section ? How could we set parameters for acceptable sections ? I do dislike watching the worlds best ride over 3 big rocks connected by large flat bits of grass.
  9. Dont worry about the front wheel skimming the log. You probably need something about a foot higher for that technique to be easy to learn. I think generally you look good on the bike
  10. Yes its on the barrel I think will have 25 250cc 28 is 280 etc. I think its front left.
  11. I've had a 2006 and 2010 300 both had too much for me. I dont understand the view that the 300 is easier to ride its just too much power, ok for better riders. However im currently riding my fourth 280, I always fit a flywheel weight but its my favourite gas gas engine.
  12. Look in uk trials forum for a discussion called british round today. Its about Tim Pearson riding an EM the last British Trials Championship round
  13. Its only really an issue if you are going to be on the road for a long time at hi speed. I have turned michelin tyres in the ssdt and not had a problem. I don't think a modern bike can go fast enough to cause an issue with the tyre
  14. Just go to an easy / beginner event. looks like you have the between the sections riding nailed, but from what I watched, you need to practice riding much slower and tight turns
  15. you are correct Guys our sport is too small to run the current world championship with professional observers. Those who do observe do their best but looking at the size of the trucks and staff to support the top five or six there needs to be some redistribution of expenditure.
  16. Hi Tim How many batteries did you use during the trial ?
  17. Well done, getting started should be the hardest part.
  18. To be fair I noticed under previous and current rules riders going backwards without penalty, particularly on rear wheel. Trouble is we are going to have to accept some margin of error as the observer is observing live without video. Watching the WTC around Europe over a number of years you need 6/7 observers per section to police all the people not actually riding and stop them gardening. And if we go back to timed stop permitted rules we also need a timekeeper. Our sport cannot supply this many people.
  19. 12th in the world sounds fantastic until you mention only 14 started. Success criteria for any future change in rules needs to be 25 - 30 entrants for the top course.
  20. Have you responded ianw to the question I asked ? Have I said the rule change has been good for the sport at the highest level ? Trials isnt ice skating ian, observers are not supposed to award points on the level of skill they perceive. The role of the observer is to record the performance of the riders under the rules as set out. This doesn't happen under either set of rules but that doesn't prove anything. No stop hasn't worked at wtc level and i think a lot of people never wanted it too. Basically section designers have tried to apply no stop to the same or similar sections to before. However if we now change back we are just where we were 2 years ago with 10 - 15 entries at wtc level, the same top 5, the same declining entries in local events, not enough new bike sales, the same rider demographic, ie more over 40 riders than any other group. So now what ?
