Given I got £3k for a 2013 GG in November thats not bad. Yes the ossa is more expensive initially but I do think you lose more on each manufacturers factory edition as well. Ie if a raga is £1500 more than a std model you dont get £1500 more for the used one. So the loss on this ossa is reasonably comparable.
Ebay is deemed by some dealers to be an indicator of value when you ask for a part exchange price against a new bike. In terms of cash something is only worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it. What the owner of a bike thinks it is worth is a different thing. We can all defend our favourite brands on tc but ultimately it's the next owners valuation that counts.
Are you kidding ? By the time you left the garage entered the house and posted this you could have had the wheel out. Its one nut then pull the spindle
Its a long time ago but I think it should be four speed with neutral below first not between first and second. it may have a ty50 gear cluster fitted as the crankcases look similar.

The bikes you had were fitted with the Tau engine and linkless rear shock. These bikes were produced from 83 to 86. Scarlett signed for JCM for the 87 season but switched back to a Yamaha for the 88 SSDT. The bike Scarlett rode was the Vega which had I think an adapted villa engine fitted.
Striet JCMs started to appear in 89, it may be the same motor as the Vega and was the same motor as the air cooled gas gas.
3 SSDTs on Gas Gas Pros running ATF dex 3 without a problem. Changed the oil weds night each time. Light gear oil often makes the clutch drag in my experience which wont help the box when changing gear.
Also have a look at the montesa forum for reference to 4rt frames breaking at the footrest mount. I know of 3 cases of this. Or Beta evo frames 2009. Or Sherco frames. Dadof2 i agree bikes need to improve but the way the fim have approached this wont work. And I am rather tired of you continually slating gas gas. Gas Gas are no worse than any other brand.
Dabster knows the FIM are trying to resuscitate the WTC they just are not making a very good job of it. Even if the weight increase did save money on parts this is far outweighed by holding rounds in Australia and Corsica.
Yes I often look at photos of the tyz and then think why did scorpa bother making the same bike. Riding position, yokes, suspension manufacturer / design, engine tuning can make for two very different bikes.
Take your point on future engine prices though.
No I dont think cleaning will make any ddifference. Thinner oil helps I have often used ATF dexron 3, including two SSDTs and this oil hasn't caused a problem.
