  1. Money is certainly a barrier as the cost of competing is high but there isnt a big enough market to support many full time riders. Just seen another thread about extreme enduro. Where is the cash coming from in that sport ? Are they really selling 3 or 4 times the volume of bikes ? Enviromentally enduro will do much more damage looking at the videos, so you would think land access problems would be worse. Then costs of entry, amount of fuel per event, maintenance being higher. However I know a recent convert to trials just cant believe the price of plastics compared to mx and its the same base material. So can anbody explain how a johnnny walker or alfredo gomez can't get funding for trials but can be a professional enduro rider ? People say that there is nothing wrong with trials but economically there is. Compare the spec of an enduro bike to a trials bike, costs are similar. If you cartwheel your trials bike down a hill you need to remortgage !! So if its not the rules what needs to change to get more participation to bring down the cost of bikes and allow young riders the support to compete ?
  2. Some people won't ever get to your level and you have only had the bike how long ? Well done
  3. When Honda first got involved they did some small production runs of some different cc engines. I was 13 at the time so might not be exactly the same but a foreign rider rode something like this in the 1983 ssdt. John Moffat get the programme out !
  4. People buy what they like riding to a point but if reliability or warranty is poor they may settle for a compromise.
  5. Not in any order SSDT Tre Giorni Valtellina (Italian Alps) Reeth 3 Day Alwinton 2 day ( ok its my clubs trial but it deserves a plug and nobody riding this will be disappointed) Loch Lomond 2 Day The Jack Wood perhaps not as scenic but the best one day trial in the country in my view.
  6. Hi Nick contact Mary Kerr at the often criticised ACU. There is a national agreement between the ACU and the FC Mary will provide the forms for you.
  7. Look at gas gas usa website they have videos showing how to rebuild the motor. Or search you tube. If this is a pro engine the seal goes in the ignition side before the bearing. From memory there is no seal on the clutch side.

    Rotax Parts

    Is rotax still trading ?
  9. Certainly a problem with people coming through and not just WTC. Only Bou has been able to break through since fajardo. These top 5 are exceptional but almost to the detriment of the sport and certainly the other wtc riders
  10. Im beginning to think you have damaged the forks if you got the old seals out without removing the leg from the fork tube. If you take the bolt out of the bottom part of the fork and then clamp the spindle housing in a vice (protect with wood or cloth) you then use the tube as a slide hammer to remove seal.
  11. to state the obvious you live in Kent ! A guy from your neck of the woods rode one of our trials last year and in the pub was telling me is local club has 3 rocks at one of its venues, all have been imported !
  12. look at the first pic in this thread http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/45128-check-out-baldilocks/page__pid__343293#entry343293 Knew I should have appled for copyright, a 3m length of this stuff is less than a £10 in wickes, its rainwater piping i think. As others have said apply decals and at first glance nobody notices. better than £70 for the carbon ones, the cheaper after market stuff breaks on impact
  13. Which poll was 2 to 1 in favour of stop permitted ? Its still my view that neither set of rules are observed properly or consistently. When you think wtc sections have 3 or 4 observers thats surprising and needs to be recognised.
  14. You cant say its popular as no stop. But I watched a youtube vid of a french championship round recently. You forget how dull stop permitted is
  15. Im curious now as to why SWM failed as a business. I had thought the advent of the mono killed them off but from the video they had quite a product range. Anybody know what happened ?
  16. not sure how many but take the cover off and top hat just slides off the post. On GG i think if the pack is too thick it may slip as this will make the fingers higher ?
  17. Bought the more expensive hebo gloves got 3 years out of them. Just bought the more expensive MOTS gloves a couple of months ago which are similar and seem ok.
  18. They do move out but once the cover is fitted the top hat / slave cylinder prevents this. All fingers should move freely i think so this likely to be your problem

    Gasgas Ohlins

Coxy go to Splatshop website and click on the more details button for a new Ohlins. There is a detailed set up guide at the foot of the page. Ohlins std settings may be included but GG may have applied their own adjustment ?
  20. Its a real shame this clashes with the Vatellina 3 day run from Bormio ski resort in the Italian Alps. I went to Bormio this year with 3 mates and it was mind blowing, riding the bikes up to 3000m, incredible scenery, proper lunch first two days, sections were typical euro some streams lots of rock outcrop but with 4 routes. It was just so much more than I was expecting. I'll write something up on it when i get everyones pics back. It would be great if the two trials were on consecutive weekends, now that would be a good trip !
  21. Could be my youngest lad Harry then. If anyone wants to sponsor him now ill give a 5% discount !
  22. I think you have a point there Zippy. Its been an extreme few years with 5 or 6 exceptional riders pushing themselves continuosly. Bou will win a few more yet injury / enduro permitting. But currently nobody younger than Toni looks anything like as good. So 3/4 years when Bou hits 30 severity will drop unless another comes along.
  23. I think this is reasonable by the ACU. Why spend a fortune on a truck or caravan for a once a year event ? Yes it could be used for btc rounds but then you need to pay to have it driven to each venue and stored between events. In terms of priorities access to land through purchase or lobbying is a far better use of my licence fee than copying other nations without a second thought.
  24. i think you may be taking this slightly more seriously than me. However i am impressed at your telepathic knowledge of the contents of his mind.
