  1. I think that in 5 years time if all we have is the current numbers of youth riders its finished as a sport. We have two camps possibly both as blind and blinkered. you cannot look at the current demographics of a uk trial and think there is a long term future for this sport. something has too change. At the moment the FIM are experimenting with the rules and if that doesnt work then we need to look at something else. At least they or somebody if not them is trying.
  2. Whilst current younger riders seem to want stop permitted the problem is that there are no where near enough young riders.
  3. Wow I still wince every time i see a backflip, just dont like what would happen if it went wrong. Age related probably
  4. Rather than split the motor go somewhere bigger to ride it
  5. Bedlington Motor Club will be running the third edition of the Alwinton Two Day trial on the weekend of the 22/23 June 2013. Alwinton is a small village in rural Northumberland about 45 minutes North West of Newcastle. Each year the club has worked with local farmers and the Forestry Commission to extend the course. The Club would like to have an established two day trial and are hoping to attract riders from around the country to enjoy our event. This years event will be a single lap on the Saturday and a two lap trial on the Sunday. Saturdays route will be 30 sections including streams, shale, quarries, rock outcrop and even a little mud. There will also be a lunch and petrol check, much of the route is on forest trails and moorland tracks. If you have never done a single lap trial this could be for you as its all off road and the club provide three routes, Expert, Clubman and Easy. Sunday will be 2 laps of twenty sections on similar terrain. The event will be a no stop trial as the land is almost perfect for a no stop trial with lots of natural terrain. In 2013 the event will start and end each day at the Clennel Hall hotel which will be the headquarters for the event. The hotel will be providing food and drink throughout the weekend and are offering discounted rates to competitors. If you wish to book a room please ring the hotel, 01669 650377, don’t use the online booking service. Clennel Hall are happy to restrict access to trial officials, spectators and competitors if there is enough interest so if you want to stay there get in touch with them now. Take a look at their website, Clennell Hall Country House Hotel - The Official Website and they also have a Facebook page. In addition the Hotel are happy for people to camp in their grounds at £15 per tent. In addition the Rose and Thistle in Alwinton village are providing the lunch check on the Saturday, they also provide accommodation and are only a mile from the start, telephone 01669 650226, The Rose and Thistle, Alwinton. Again you can camp in their grounds, fee to be negotiated. There is also an offical campsite and caravan site right next to the start, Welcome to Clennell Hall Riverside Holiday Park - a quiet, country carava site in Northumberland There is more accommodation in the area, please contact the club via Facebook or the clubs website for details. Entry forms are now on the Trials Central Calender. In due course we will be adding more photographs of planned sections and hopefully some video to the clubs Facebook page. Please send any questions to the club via Facebook and we hope to see you in June. Facebook page is Facebook Club Secretary is Colin Battensby 07967531230 or contact Glen Quinn 07793047250 after 7pm.
  6. Good photos and credit where its due it was a belting trial. Thanks Darlington
  7. no air filter may make it richer as more air going through carb sucks more fuel through Jets. Had a bike running with filter box off years ago and it ran really rich

    Brake Pedal

What year is your gas gas ? I have fittted a 2007 pedal to my 2013, which is a lot less likely to get snagged on anything as its doesnt stick out as far. You will need to file a little off so it doesnt catch the frame. The aftermarket btrake pedals are rubbish, i had the same experience as you.
  9. na cant go past raptor pegs copey. Im surprised this mod exists and doubt it makes much difference hence the question !
  10. Anyone tried the Jitsie steel front spindle ? Its supposed to make the handling more stable by adding weight to the front
  11. sure Ham has Jimmy Nails greatest hits somewhere.......
  12. Bedlington motor club are staging a two day trial at the popular Hope Farm venue over Easter Weekend. The trial will take place on Sunday 31st March and Monday 1st April. The event will cater for all classes of rider from very easy to expert. Each day will be 4 laps of 10 different sections. If you haven’t been to Hope Farm before the venue has some excellent natural terrain and is predominantly rock gullies and rock outcrop. Start time will be 11am each day and you can enter on the day. Due to recent weather it is not going to be possible to camp or use caravans at the venue but local accommodation is available in nearby Rothbury.
  13. 350 jumbo or 280 ? One of them needs to find its way to my garage this year
  14. on the bright side bang on cue TC classifieds has an advert for a 315 month cylinder and piston, get that email sent ! Its not mine by the way
  15. 3 days at ssdt, 4 day in france then reeth 3 day on a 2012 290 nothing fell off. i now have a gas gas so im not sherco blind. it only takes one thing to come loose then its a chain reaction. check exhaust, tank, engine bolts occaisionally and it will be fine. No different than any other bike
  16. Id think a lanyard is no different to a kill switch its just breaking a circuit by removing the magnet rather than pressing a button
  17. dont like that idea . how fast is the rear wheel spinning on an upside down bike with the throttle stuck open ? Id rather re chrome than lose body parts to a michelin chain saw !
  18. It might be ok with ATF but all 3 of my shercos were quite happy on standard 10/40 motor oil. The clutch does drag a little from cold but that probably happens regardless of the oil. as for the mapping i can tell you if you take it off thats the softer setting which is what i did, most people dont need to make a 290 any quicker, certainly not for NE centre trials anyway. Make a cover for the fuel tank filler so its not getting mud in when you fill up part way through a trial. Only other thing I would do is run some rtv silicone round the lower tray the air filter sits on so that no muck gets down the side of the filter. And if your going to be dropping it get some carbon look protection for the petrol tank and exhaust as they look very tatty once dented. Splatshop and AG bikes both stock them.
  19. hard to do but dont panic you have at least 15 seconds before its going to go bang. vitually every bike has a domino throttle just rip the cable and the top comes off releasing the cable. that will be enough most of the time unless the slide is jammed. this happened once on a kx 125 and we turned fuel off and put the choke on then used rear brake / clutch
  20. mate you need to clean the outside of the carb before taking it to bits or you are going to put more muck back in than you remove
  21. its sometimes not the best to watch as most sections start with a monster step so if they dont get past that theres nothing to see.
  22. lots of 2 stroke oils will be fine such as silkolene rock oil motul putoline castrol (check its pre mix not injector) or pj1. great bikes by the way is it cable or hydraulic clutch ? 93 was first hydraulic 250 clutch i think ?
  23. petrol tank loose or the stay between cylinder base and frame.

    Bigger Tank

ok if fitted correctly but orig design is for the 2008 frame. I think you need to warm the tank so it doesnt touch the exhaust and electrics. Ring Gas Gas and somebody will explain. also see tc classified ads for a used one now.
