  1. actually you had better drain the oil in case it runs when you remove the shift shaft.
  2. Almost certainly return spring broken. You have been lucky so far as if the broken bit gets between two gears that will be expensive. Its not a difficult job. drain coolant remove gear lever and lie bike on its left side remove kickstart remove clutch cover remove clutch pressure plate and plates. remove clutch basket, i use an air gun for the centre nut, dont try and jam the primary gear or clutch basket as it will cause damage. Note where any bearings and shims go when you take it off. you can then inspect the spring. If its broke they are less than a fiver but check which way the tabs go before you remove it you can install the wrong way. have fun !
  3. Great result what happened to Gubian ??
  4. same folks who said beta were sacking dabill who now has a contract with...... Beta
  5. or do as the acu have suggested and retain s3 as a genuine clubman series. riders vote through participation and ultimately one of the new championships will fail in a couple of years. nobody can then argue that their wishes were not taken into account and we will be left with what the majority want to ride.
  6. It could be the clutch cover gasket as this seals off the gallery that connects the waterpump to the crankcase. it blew on mine but only when i took the bike down the road, the coolant was running off the sumpguard on the other side so i didnt spot it at first.
  7. Bernie did a bike test for Dirt Bike back in the day, thats probably where that photos from.
  8. when the petrol level is low in the tank you only get fuel in the reserve position.
  9. at the time the 156 fantic was slightly better but not much in it. Both good bikes especially in northern trials where power was less of an issue.
  10. common problem on the 300 but Gas Gas UK can supply you with a better gasket.

  13. rode for sandiford montesa on a 247 not sure if he rode somthing else between that and the armstrong. very good rider in his day.
  14. Just a suggestion but like lots of issues with trials there is the letter of the law and then there is accepted practice, often two different things. We all know in rocky events early numbers suffer. Equally loose rocky sections vary greatly rider to rider and loose rocks before a big obstacle can make the section a lottery. None of this is helpful in determining the best rider as the severity changes constantly. Some observers recognise the above and allow some "adjustment" , riders often assume consent has been given. So why dont we say in future if a rider wants to move a rock he must ask first or its a five without question. If the observer determines that given the nature of the section its reasonable to move a rock then he gives consent. No minders to move rocks, again this is a five for the rider without question. Finally some re education of both riders and observers may be required, riders are not in charge here the observer is, both parties need to act accordingly. In my view a lot of this should not be required at a local level, its a day out with very little at stake for anybody at club level.
  15. should be right straight away, cant see they will slip less with wear did you measure the pack ?
  16. if you have steel pegs put some weld on the back of the peg where it hits the frame. if not weld steel washers to the outside of the peg mount on the frame
  17. fuel injection putting too much petrol into cylinder ?

  19. Closing Date has now been changed to 5th September as we are still short of entries. We are expecting to be marking out on the thursday and friday so Weds evening is the last chance to contact the Sec as phone reception is not good in the area. details are still attached to entry in TC calender, Sec Number is 07967531230
  20. tried a yam with a pwk 28 keihin fitted that was really good but you would need to make an adaptor for air intake.
  21. if its in gear and revving im betting your left hand will have hold of the clutch. above a certain rpm the kill switch doesnt work or takes a long time so heading toward a cliff id be focussing on keeping hold of the clutch. pulling the clutch and pressing a kill switch at speed is like ctrl alt del on your keyboard but at speed, not recommended
  22. Hands up if you think organising a trial is easy ?? We had access to the next door forest approved informally a couple of months ago. We still have access to the forest but we cant use anything determined by the forestry commision to be a water course so that ruled out 7 of the planned sections for sunday ! So paid a visit a fortnight ago to see what else we can find in the forest but in the time we have left decided just to use the forest access to link different bits of land and go for plan B. Plan B was to approach the other farmers in the area and see if we could use some of their land to extend the course. We got a very positive response so now have three farmers on board plus potentially another for next year. Must say a big thanks to Seaton Delaval club who have allowed us to use their course to get across to the new farmers land. I have been up today to put some sections in mainly the dry rocky sections and scree as I had my 6 year old apprentice with me and I didnt fancy us getting wet in the rivers. Some photos are on my facebook page but i'll put some links up later. I think this year will be cracking, its a further round on both days and will be 2 laps of 20 good sections which will be a full days entertainment. The easy course will miss 2 or 3 sections each day as some gullies are just too diificult for an easy course rider to enjoy. Sunday we'll be getting through best part of a tank of juice each lap so if your coming bring plenty petrol. We have some observers but could do with some more especially with bikes. http://www.flickr.com/photos/85472331@N08/7825578800/in/photostream/
