Before we start I am not posting this for any other reason than to understand how the fuel injection works, its not criticism and its not praise, I'm just interested.
In the starting issues thread it was mentioned that the Ossa like a lot of two strokes needs to be revved from time to time to clear it out and this got me thinking.
In a carb fuelled two stroke we have an inlet port and transfer ports. My limited understanding is that as the piston travels up this creates a vaccuum which sucks fuel mix into the cylinder below teh piston. When the piston returns this mix is forced out via the transfer ports and ends up on top of the piston. The problem with this is that some of the mix escapes at this point without ever being burnt.
Does this unburnt fuel, which ends up in the exhaust, clog the system and this is why a two stroke needs to be cleaned out or revved from time to time ?
My next question is why this is in the Ossa forum.
On the Ossa do you still have an inlet port and transfer ports or does the fuel just get injected onto the piston surface ? It seems with fuel injection it would be more efficient to only have an exhaust port in terms of wear on the piston and emmissions. But there may be many more difficulties with this than I am aware of.
I'm think from memory Honda had such a design years ago and took the bike across one of the poles, it was reported in MCN. As the fuel was directed toward the cylinder head hardly any unburnt fuel escaped and therefore emissions were dramatically reduced. Obviously if it was that good in terms of performance it would be in mass production by now so there must be more to it ?

Bernie admitted in his book that he hated riding in mud, only when SWM made him practice weaknesses did he learn to master it and admitted he enjoyed it in the end. Not word for word whats in the book as i last read it about 25 years ago !

use ATF dexron 3 in the gearbox this in my experience reduces drag and should improve the gearchange. Also that first oil change when the oil was milky ? has the waterpump seal leaked recently, coolant may have contaminated clutch pack so your new plates plus ATF should improve things and as said above check the adjustment per the video.

its a point in time but its the bikes as well
not many people can trick ride a 349 mont !
-
Lots of people expressing views here but Marks and Spencers ? really......???
-
I had a TY Pinky in 91 but rode a mates GG 327 air cooled and thought it was fantastic.
if i was buying an air cooled mono i'd probably have one of them, can you get bits for them ??

I think you can argue with a two year warranty, its a financial consolation but if you need to use it then you have probably retired from an event or had your day out spoilt. This to be fair isnt an Ossa only issue, however I think warranty is no substitute for the product being right in the first place and all manufacturers need to start doing better testing of the product they sell to us for between £5000 and £7000 depending on brand.
The thread was from somebody asking how the Ossa compared to their current bike, its perfectly reasonable for that person to get a balanced view from fellow members.
Having known Ham2 for some time i doubt she is offended by my avatar...... Its a hangover from some discussion some years ago but cant even recall what it was about now, may have been her not turning up at a practice session but not sure.

as well as tasting great most of that is 20% cheaper as of today ! Result
-
what a venue for a trial !
thanks for the video

Can you stop making this personal, yes you like your OSSA, nothing wrong with that but its not as if Dabster is actually making stuff up is it?

Bou's crash is a bit spectacular on facebook, section 4.I havent got enough fingers to attempt that (or ability before somebody reminds me).
seems a bit too dangerous
-
hard rounds really show the gaps. bou does the second lap for 7 !!!
-
yes and surely going backwards under stop permitted is a five but that happens every week.
either set of rules applied on a zero tolerance basis will result in much higher scores.
observers apply flexibility to account, occaisionally, for sections that are actually too hard. Over time this has contributed to sections getting harder as when the coc looks at the results he thinks lots of people got through the section. In reality they should have been fives and next year that section needs to be easier.
i'm not chipping into this as a btc rider but i have posted as this is an issue for trials in general. If we want no latitude from the obervers then section severity has to reduce.

to ensure their children eat their greens ?

in wor terms Ham its nee better than a carb
you could set your carb, eat a ham and pease pudding stottie, walk the whippet and doon a bottle o broon faster than driving to the dealers to speed up ya tickover.
really it is progress but the owner needs to be able to program it at home, most of us have jobs so are at work when the dealers open.

Mr Greig you are a poor ad for the scottish education system.
Surely the odds or probability cannot exceed 276 to 1. Oh Im going to regret this !
-
lost a bit of weight been training for once so the infamous one piece is now baggy. looks even worse....
hopefully observer will be laughing so hard he miss my odd dab !
-
who do you think will win ssdt ?
be nice to see pune do it this year
-
how about Vestys Bulto built for the 83 SSDT ?
-
Actually the practice lap can really help with the consistency of the trial and is only fair if its based on slippy northern streams. If your the first man away on the championship course then your riding a different trial to the guy at the back of the field.
this is the problem with the outodoors, Bou and Raga are riding most sections first and still outside the top 5 the gap is huge. I dont beleive the current riders in the WTC outside the top 5 can close the gap to Bou, it needs somebody younger than Bou who is still probably in 125's or has only been in juniors a year or so. Not seeking cause any offence in saying that but I think its linked to this topic.
I can t justify the BTC being so hard that only 3 riders can realistically compete for the win if its not getting them near the podium on the world scene. Its not as if the BTC hasnt been that hard for a while so if thats the way to create the next british world champ what else is wrong ??
As others have said we need to decide what is the purpose of the BTC, what are we as a sport trying to achieve ? Perhaps the acu have and its their role along with other interested parties to do that.
As a concept finding the best rider across the range of terrain in the uk seems a reasonable idea ?? From the round slippy rocks of Scotland to the mud of the South and everything in between !

front pipe looks like a different brand ?
i like the way the front brake lever is already bent to save you having to drop it yourself !
given some issues with formula that new hope kit might be the way forward, great business oppurtunity for them

To be fair the british champiosnship was based on the world round severity and outside of the top 3 you couldnt really make it much harder looking at the scores last year. I have said this before but its worth repeating, our current riders with the previous years format couldnt make it into the top 5 at the WTC anyway so why spoil the national series? In my view the WTC is knackered within the next 2 years, theres not enough money and when cabs / raga and fuji retire theres going to be Toni Bou and the rest will be miles away unless the section severity reduces.
Perhaps we are ahead of the game in recognising replicating wtc is a blind alley in terms of participation. Trials IS a participation sport, people watching buy naff all.....

We are having a few technical problems but if any body wants regs just send me a PM with your email and i'll send you a set of regs.
