Ossa Joins Gas Gas
having watched recent videos it makes more sense to me that Toni Bou is a transexual alien from the planet Xarg than the other theory which is that he is genetically related in some way to any of us........

thats a great feature but its not as good as a gearbox that doesnt need to be changed. Sure ossa will get it sorted, still great to see a company try somthing so different.

Ossa TR 280i hard to start
does the ossa require a minimum rpm like the 4rt ? I have always thought this is a problem with the mont as it ticks over too fast to recover traction when you shut the throttle. Does the battery get round this ?

French Four Day
Hi folks got an entry for this year but have noticed in the regs they ask you to produce a grey card for your bike ? anybody know what that is ? I have been assured its ok to just take log book insurance and drivers licence but its a long way from Newcastle if they wont let me start ! appreciate any advice cheers

Any Objections ?
when i was stuck years ago i took the rear mudgaurd and back wheel out of my TY Pinky and slid the forks out with the front wheel still fitted. I got the bike in the back of an estate car in an upright position. Its a hassle but its not much more than 10 mins work. on a gas gas pro its four allen bolts and a jubilee clip and the whole rear end comes off, get the back wheel out as well and you may be able to hang the front of the bike out of the back. A motorcycle carrier is a lot more sensible though

Btc! What's Happened?!
see your other post on 2012 Raga prices. Importers could fund a series but bike prices would need to increase and nobody is going to vote for that.

Fuel Injection
Before we start I am not posting this for any other reason than to understand how the fuel injection works, its not criticism and its not praise, I'm just interested. In the starting issues thread it was mentioned that the Ossa like a lot of two strokes needs to be revved from time to time to clear it out and this got me thinking. In a carb fuelled two stroke we have an inlet port and transfer ports. My limited understanding is that as the piston travels up this creates a vaccuum which sucks fuel mix into the cylinder below teh piston. When the piston returns this mix is forced out via the transfer ports and ends up on top of the piston. The problem with this is that some of the mix escapes at this point without ever being burnt. Does this unburnt fuel, which ends up in the exhaust, clog the system and this is why a two stroke needs to be cleaned out or revved from time to time ? My next question is why this is in the Ossa forum. On the Ossa do you still have an inlet port and transfer ports or does the fuel just get injected onto the piston surface ? It seems with fuel injection it would be more efficient to only have an exhaust port in terms of wear on the piston and emmissions. But there may be many more difficulties with this than I am aware of. I'm think from memory Honda had such a design years ago and took the bike across one of the poles, it was reported in MCN. As the fuel was directed toward the cylinder head hardly any unburnt fuel escaped and therefore emissions were dramatically reduced. Obviously if it was that good in terms of performance it would be in mass production by now so there must be more to it ?

Too Much Traction.
Bernie admitted in his book that he hated riding in mud, only when SWM made him practice weaknesses did he learn to master it and admitted he enjoyed it in the end. Not word for word whats in the book as i last read it about 25 years ago !

Pro 280 Not Going In To 5Th/6Th
use ATF dexron 3 in the gearbox this in my experience reduces drag and should improve the gearchange. Also that first oil change when the oil was milky ? has the waterpump seal leaked recently, coolant may have contaminated clutch pack so your new plates plus ATF should improve things and as said above check the adjustment per the video.

How Is It
I think you can argue with a two year warranty, its a financial consolation but if you need to use it then you have probably retired from an event or had your day out spoilt. This to be fair isnt an Ossa only issue, however I think warranty is no substitute for the product being right in the first place and all manufacturers need to start doing better testing of the product they sell to us for between £5000 and £7000 depending on brand. The thread was from somebody asking how the Ossa compared to their current bike, its perfectly reasonable for that person to get a balanced view from fellow members. Having known Ham2 for some time i doubt she is offended by my avatar...... Its a hangover from some discussion some years ago but cant even recall what it was about now, may have been her not turning up at a practice session but not sure.
