  1. Just a brief update following yesterdays visit to Alwinton We had a look round the adjoining forest we are hoping to use for the first time on foot and you could run a ten section club trial in there. We took Carlsberg (the farmer who owns the land the trial runs on) to look at the area with us and he will liase with the forest manager so we can all meet up the week after next and hopefully gain agreement. Yesterday we showed Carlsberg where we would like to go this year and our revised route is acceptable and will make it much easier for the easy course riders to get round the course regardless of getting access to the forest. We then went to see the new hotel owner as it has recently changed ownership. Bedlington Motor Club will be providing an evening meal for people observing at the trial and this was agreed yesterday with the hotel. In addition there is a music festival on that weekend but the hotel are happy to accomodate the trial as well and it should make for a really good night now we have entertainment. Twenty observers for two days may take some finding so i'd really appreciate anybody offering to observe, particulaly with a bike. We have therefore agreed to set up a practice area so anybody bringing a bike to observe can practice after the trial on the saturday if they wish and we are going to try and get an approved trainer to provide some tuition. Once we have approval confirmed from the forest i'll post some pictures and further details The hotel is Clennell Hall, it has a website and the phone number is 01669650377 We have also agreed that people can camp near the hotel and use the facilities. Cheers
  2. if you have ssen the photo of the entire fingernail resting on some of the flesh removed with it I think you'd agree its more or less the tip of his finger, I'm assuming the photo posted on facebook is actually fujigas and not a joke. didnt realise Gubian had lost 8 teeth as well needs to stop before somebody ends up paralysed or worse......
  3. the mont idle speed is way too high for a trials bike and i think the ossa may need a min rpm ? does the battery pack sort this out ?
  4. yes i have come to the conclusion sections are just too hard to be observed properly rather than it being about the rules. non stop or stop permitted both require a degree of leniency which puts undue pressure on the observer. Realistically the clerk of the course needs to set out sections that the expected riders can ride within the rules of the event. IF we could agree this as a principle we may be able to work forwards from there. at present when setting out a trial you often dont know how it will be observed. This has to change in my view.
  5. sherco have done more than some othery brands in recent years and i find the 2012 a very good bike. Only gripe really is that it needs a better lockstop. For all the technology the ossa isnt actually a great deal better to ride. For me a well set up Gasser or Sherco is the bike to have.
  6. im talking about trials in general not btc or any other series / event dabster. My reason for easier trials is for a clean to mean the rider didnt actually have a five but the observer ignored the rider stopped or went backwards. BUT if we are all happy with minor roll backs and brief pauses then thats fine. trouble with present situation is interpretation differs section to section trial to trial.
  7. just to provide some balance i have noticed in the wtc videos a lot of riders reverse a small amount when setting up for the next obstacle. how much is allowed before a five should be awarded ? Trials as a sport doesnt work at present at many levels if the rules are applied strictly, yes i realise thats daft but its true nonetheless. Look at a selection of SSDT / BTC /WTC videos, riders are consistently either slightly going backwards at wtc or pausing / stopping in BTC or SSDT. If everybody is happy with this and we decide that sensibly the rider is given a margin to allow for human error by either the rider or the observer that may be a sensible way forward. I wouldnt like to estimate my score if rules were applied strictly at the trials I ride, i'd have an awful lot of fives as would many others. The alternative seems to be that we as a sport have to start recognising that we cant actually ride current sections to our rules. The current attempt to run btc no stop has I think been valuable as its demonstrated that under either set of rules a clerk of the course can make a trial too hard as they were last year and last weekend by the looks of things or too easy as it was at the opening BTC. To be fair the opening round being easier was appropriate in my view to allow everybody to adjust to a new (old) system. As others have said we maybe need to move the debate away from rules and onto an acceptable level of severity that can be consistently observed ?
  8. why dont we need an international licence ??
  9. having watched recent videos it makes more sense to me that Toni Bou is a transexual alien from the planet Xarg than the other theory which is that he is genetically related in some way to any of us........
  10. Japan WTC round is on MotorsTV Uk at 10.05 Saturday, somthing to do when TC is down !
  11. would make sense look at euro cars and vans, often produced jointly now. Ossa needs investment but what do gas gas get out of it ? On the plus side dabster you and borus could be teamates next year !
  12. can i respectfully remind you all this is a Jotgas forum, i'm interested in how the Jotagas performs and I'd like to hear from people who own one or have ridden one. I dont really want to spectate a slanging match about the Greeves
  13. no if he had got to the 1 marker it would be a 1 thats a two.
  14. we use them but obviously you need the terrain
  15. you mean the pipe that goes through the little bracket on the float bowl ? it connects to the breather outlet on the right hand side of the carb.
  16. no worries woody be good to see the atom top 10 tomorrow
  17. charlize theron ? well i'm not takin the mrs to this film
  18. I was going to say that but thought it would be good to focus on their good results and not kick off yet another debate over rules......
  19. light travels faster than sound this is why some people appear intelligent until they start to talk...... credit to carlsberg the farmer for this wisdom
  20. great to see Dabill in the top 5 and Wiggy has had a much better result. excellent !

    How Is It

thats a great feature but its not as good as a gearbox that doesnt need to be changed. Sure ossa will get it sorted, still great to see a company try somthing so different.
  22. does the ossa require a minimum rpm like the 4rt ? I have always thought this is a problem with the mont as it ticks over too fast to recover traction when you shut the throttle. Does the battery get round this ?
  23. Hi folks got an entry for this year but have noticed in the regs they ask you to produce a grey card for your bike ? anybody know what that is ? I have been assured its ok to just take log book insurance and drivers licence but its a long way from Newcastle if they wont let me start ! appreciate any advice cheers
  24. when i was stuck years ago i took the rear mudgaurd and back wheel out of my TY Pinky and slid the forks out with the front wheel still fitted. I got the bike in the back of an estate car in an upright position. Its a hassle but its not much more than 10 mins work. on a gas gas pro its four allen bolts and a jubilee clip and the whole rear end comes off, get the back wheel out as well and you may be able to hang the front of the bike out of the back. A motorcycle carrier is a lot more sensible though
  25. see your other post on 2012 Raga prices. Importers could fund a series but bike prices would need to increase and nobody is going to vote for that.
