  1. I was more concerned that lowbrow may be talking about a spindle on an earlier model and your about to damage your spindle ? ask GGUK if S3's fit. A pattern spindle is available from Trial and Enduro Direct but I have never had a problem with the original GG item.
  2. a 2010 gg doesnt have a spindle nut its an allen bolt ?
  3. I bet Jimmy loves watching that !
  4. had a ride on a factory rep today, very nice. Biggest improvement was the clutch compared to last ossa i rode. No drag and felt very positive.
  5. I dont think we want trials in the olympics one slow mo of some grass being chewed up and the trials park would be declared an SSSI by Janet Street with no orthodontist Porter and friends. Some Olympic sports are brilliant, horse dancing is utter Sh**e. ive been to the pub again by the way......
  6. I find they last ok and dont seize like needle rollers do if you leave it too long between maintenance sessions. still move better when packed with grease so I do that once a month
  7. Hi Folks Is anybody currently running events on Forestry Commison land ? If so could you send me a message with some details please so I could contact you. We have access to a new forest but some conditions are being applied which i'm surprised at. The local manager is happy to help but needs some enviromental information which another club may already have ? thanks
  8. Good advice copey but from cold im assuming the clutch dragged and caught him out.
  9. Ham they are the cheap domino ones you are referring to. They do a much better one and its slightly thicker than renthal but the end is a different compound as well so you dont need bar ends. I have used them last 2 years and like them.
  10. given they are a load of B*****ks that almost seems appropriate
  11. fair point but why is it necessary to change so often ? some people dont like using atf in trials motors but it worked fine in the gas gas for me. no slip or drag and i was changing oil a lot less frequently. might work well in the ossa ?
  12. yeah so does the oil in a gas gas pro. Borus have you got shares in GRO ? cant see why oil is going off and effecting clutch after 5 hours per above posts. Do you think it may be reacting to clutch plate material ?
  13. why should you need to change oil after 10 hours ?
  14. Just bought a 36v for mini baldilocks but its getting delivered via the north pole and will arrive on a sleigh towards the end of December. I've mentioned this before but the 20 makes the case stronger, will our current kids under say 10 years old ride electric bikes all their life. I can see my son being on the 36 for a couple of years then maybe the 20. Think how much land access may improve if there was an adult version. Gas Gas and Sorpa currently make one so its not that far away, 5 years perhaps ?
  15. Just a quick update Spoke to the hotel manager and the hotel are providing a prize for the overall winner the trial. The winner will get a a voucher for Dinner Bed and Breakfast for two which can be used when they wish. As this means that the winner of the prize can only come from the expert route the club are also purchasing two vouchers for Bed and Breakfast for two people at the hotel which will be given as spot prizes, one for the esy route and one for the middle course. The hotel is Clennell Hall, it has a website and the phone number is 01669650377 I'll be up there all day sunday sorting out the saturday route and will report back next week.
  16. first of all you are in the best trials forums already, some questions that are asked frequently for specific bikes are pinned at the top of the forums eg Beta clutch fix is at the top of the Beta forum, other than that you ask the questions and somebody will help you. so 80ml to five litres is about right, use a good quality two stroke like Putoline, Ipone, Rock oil not standard supermarket two stroke. Check that the oil is for pre mix not an injector system. Slow action throttle is a must if this is your first bike, a 270 is not a beginners bike. Take the right side plastic engine case off and see if it still has the flywheel weight fitted. If its been removed there will just be two threaded holes where it used to be, you should place an ad to buy one as better riders take them off but your just starting out so it will help you. Gearbox oil change every couple of months and use PJ1 clutch tuner, Beta owners might be able to recommend somthing else but thats what I used last time I had one. regular maintenance oil chain & check tension, check disc pads, try and shake wheels from side to side to check bearings, remove and clean the carb and air filter. Check nuts and bolts are tight and controls work properly. thats enough to be getting on with for now, go ride it and tell us how you get on.
  17. This is an interesting debate we can all see the logic in the bearings being open allowing lubrication of the bearing through the pre mix. BUT for some reason this system didnt work very well on the early shercos which regularly suffered from main bearing failure. I bought a new 2007 for the SSDT, bike never missed a beat all week but i had a couple of weekends spare in June so stripped the motor and replaced the mains as a precaution. I was surprised they were sealed but to be honest there was nothing wrong with the mains. Every Sherco since has had sealed mains and by and large this has cured the problem of Shercos needing Main Bearings very quickly from new. As posted above my 2011 sherco did loads of work but was on the original mains and seals when i sold it. Various bearings in a Gas Gas pro gearbox are also sealed and you would think they would be open and be lubed by the gearbox oil but thats not the case, or it wasnt on my 2009 model anyway. Whilst we as users of the product think we know better i cant argue with the facts I have encountered in my experience, the sealed main bearing lasts just as long as any other brand of bike and longer than an open bearing in a sherco ever did.
  18. you may want to ask your friend how the gearbox oil gets to the bearing in a two stroke ? it does on the gas gas pro because there is a oil circulation passage to the bearing but generally on a 2t the mains are lubed by the pre mix oil you add to petrol. my 2011 sherco did the ssdt and numeous other long distance events and was still on original mains when i sold it.
  19. did look better in the flesh thankfully. Yokes are also machined so when on full lock the impact is spread over a greater area.
  20. well judging by the carb its not fuel injection Neo
  21. Not sure if this will work or not is that you speaking Kinell or Oliveras ??
  22. I once got a brand new scorpa fitted with dunlops and just could not get it to grip. I had a slippy grass bank at mu practice place and it was a third gear job with the dunlop on. went back to the van fitted my spare wheel with an absolutley knackered michelin and i could ride up in first gear. Never bought anything else since. You'd be better off buying a second hand michelin for £20 off somebody than fitting dunlop or pirelli. IRC I have never tried.
  23. there must be a awful lot of strain going through that knee
  24. thats a good selling point cope. no matter how bad your riding gear you will look good next to a new sherco ! Might look better in the flesh but last two years the bikes have looked really good and this isnt as impressive. saying that it wont stop me buying one if it goes well.
