Look people its obviously not easy but theres no need to chuck the towel in just yet. We need to ask some reasonable questions and do a few things to make the bikes more presentable to the police and others. OTF I dont know how old you are but i've got a few years left and dont fancy doing 4 X 10 sections till I croak !
By the way there is an event run in scotland which may have trouble contacting every household but maybe scotland is different, I certainly hope so.

i'd be on the same page as you in terms of you need to do it by the book otherwise you leave yourself and the club at the mercy of the law if something goes wrong.
However earlier in the thread somebody posted that the rule regarding contacting everybody as you have described it cant possibly be applied by say rally GB, its just not practical. So it may be worth checking out with a rally club if there is onenearby how they deal with it or ask MSA what rally GB provide?
As for being part of big Daves red tape campaign, well yes it would be if our bikes were in any way defendable in terms of legality. We could be a lot more public about our sport if we didnt have so much to hide !
Why cant a trials rider fit a speedo ? probabaly weighs 1/2 kg ?
Horn about the same
Some of our riders leave the lights on why not all ?
and is a quick detach legal number plate really beyond the wit of man?
IF we sort the bikes out then we could perhaps send this to big Dave.....

Thanks for posting this
goes well with a glass of red !

Just looked at Copeys torque values which are pinned
Never used a torque wrench, i have seen one before but it only worked with a socket. So unless there is a ring spanner version how do you torque cylinder base nuts as I can't get a socket on the front two ?
-
thanks for the praise ham
Theres a couple more points to think about here
First of all Copey is right to point out, although he perhaps didnt mean to, that compressors, impact guns, spanners all come in different sizes. So what i should have said is if your using my gear you wont have a problem with overtightening with an impact gun as the gun at is maximum is only just strong enough to remove the nut which presumably was set at the correct torque at the factory. Also only use it on the areas I use it on and not on say a 6mm bolt in alloy.
second thing is I'm a desk jockey sitting at a keyboard Monday to Friday and in my experience I havent ever had the strength to snap or strip a bolt using a ring spanner.
Not everybody has my lack of strength or spanner set !
-
Ok by way of explanation
impact gun for removal and re fit of clutch, primary gear and flywheel nut. mark it before you remove if you like but the gun i have only just manages to get these things off so goes back as tight as i can get it.
everything else i use a spanner and experience !

thats a shame would have been great to have Toni Bou on the forums

never used a torque wrench in 30 years of working on bikes. Still waiting for the first problem....
-
If you buy the sherco tool thats one job sorted, however if you buy a compressor and an impact gun you will be able to do loads of jobs. Go buy a compressor, Copemech is correct doing the job without the right gear is just more expensive in the long run

Jockanese !!
We need to get you lot on the stage at the comedy cafe.

I was thinkin lets switch focus and be nice to people, we are still trying to clean up after our humour p****d off the romans a while back.... But no crack on Ham lets go for the scotch and the Yanks, still at least Copey wont have a gun soon....
I'm ganna build an air raid shelter, this might turn ugly

when the bike was launched in 83 one of my dads sponsored riders got one for the ssdt. This guy normally rode a 340 bulto, he looped the jumbo in the shop car park pulling wheelies in 5th ! doubt you need any more power unless the engine is in a bad way.
reed block was removed later in an attempt to slow it down...
-
front brake master cylinder is different looks like brembo or nissin
-
The forks on Ragas bike look trick but also look like longer travel ? didnt do him much good though. you can see a lot of the changes mentioned if you study the photos for a while.

I think you will need the insert but not sure if that manufacturer make one, check with Sandifords.
-
do something
find some new land
observe
mark a trial out
help a new starter
go to a club meeting and see what vacancies exist
-
unless used ones are on ebay you need to buy new, thats not going to be cheap. If they arent broken id spend the cash on petrol, we buy them to ride them, so go have some fun!
-
the mods your talking about are the basis for the 270 conversion using a 70mm piston. Ring birkettmotorsport uk importer for ossa, they have a website and lots of ty experience.
