some of this is personal to my riding style but is hopefully going to give you some insight.
Had alpinestars back in 2003, bought them cheap in Italy when on a ski ing holiday. Very comfy, good support for your feet but the uppers are soft. I tend to rub the inside of my boots on the frame, I wore through the alpinestars in a month !
Forma / gaerne as others have said not a lot of support, had both. Forma where at least comfortable, I found the gaernes very uncomfortable as they took the skin off my ankle first time out so went on ebay.
I currently have sidi, very comfy, soles are very good and provide good support, ankle support not as good, I have twisted an ankle in them.
Rainers which are imported by Birketts are probably the best vfm boot I have had in recent years and i'll be going back to them next. Rainers are not that trendy but they do the job, they are padded internally and last a year of major trials including the SSDT etc. I stopped using them when I got given a new set of Gaernes as part of a deal on a sherco, I have been round the houses since but really, despite spending more, I haven't found anything that suits me better.

Hi Chris
Start with the cheap stuff. A slow throttle makes a lot of difference for less than £20. Even cheaper but more hassle to fit is a 1mm base gasket quite effective on the bigger bikes.
After that flywheel weight, longer front pipe or low comp head. Had a low comp head on a 300 once but didnt like it, seemed to build revs more quickly.
Have you ridden one as the 2014 280 is much softer than the 2013,

Been to the trial today. My 2014 model bought easter weekend has now consumed 1 set of rear pads 1 pair of grips and one set of front wheel bearings. It could do with a tyre.
Its appalling isnt it.
Al the spanner he thinks you're great. He doesn't know who you are so maybe you can ring him ?
-
Looks long ? MX ones are probably stronger ?
-
Thats a moto fox shock from a twin shock bike by the looks of it
-
Good rider on a twin shock will beat a beginner on anything. Get some tuition or training then bling up the stuff you break
-
Actually he is called Glenn, that'll be 99% of the problem....
-
I put 2.5wt in left leg and 5wt in right on a gas gas
-
I think he means SWM TL 125 not Honda did the SWMs come with a key ?
-
Sorry forgot to say 450 ml in the gearbox the sight glass is almost full with oil.
-
Agree 10t is a better way to go with larger rear sprocket for chain / sprocket wear. Im surprised 10/42 isn't low enough as I run 11/42.
Putoline light gear oil or atf in the gearbox. Atf is very thin and makes the clutch more snappy but its personal preference.
Radiator just fill with neat coolant and the excess will blow out.
-
Whatever our disagreements Dadoff you do submit the longest posts in the world.
Ever.

I thought you meant it was a brand new bike. Some things to check, has the previous owner increased the spring pre load on the rear shock ? There should be some sag in the shock with the bike standing without you on it. Tyres do get harder over time I think so although the edge is ok maybe try a new one, if this is a 2013 model the tyre could be two years old now. Finally move the bars back just to try it. If they are too far forward so will you be

There you go fastbelly spend a bit if time with Steve and he can help you out. Great offer Steve
-
I think your trials convener has opened a bigger can of worms here. Why is that spectators view valid ? Did he watch anyone else, did he request any other scores be reviewed ? Has any other score been amended ?
-
Not being cheeky how much do you weigh ? Have you changed suspension at all ?
-
Cliff Collinson national trial results.
Over a specially adapted course made entirely of inflated inner tubes and used loft insulation a number of Gas Gas riders managed to finish the event.
Expert course 1 - 2 - 3
Just saying
-
Ring splatshop its the same system as sherco / beta
-
Or how about a trial without observers is actually a practice day
-
Colin Appleyard well known dealer started selling gas gas 2010 /11.
Eddie Aitkin started selling gas gas last year.
Al span sells gas gas.
AG bikes still a Gas Gas dealer
if you post those that stopped / ceased to trade then its reasonable to post the new ones.
-
Al lives in the north east centre as do I.
3 factory editions this summer
my own 2014 280 racing plus another 3 at least out of a typical entry of 50 - 60 riders. Yes thats the end of the world right there.
-
The decision should be if the spectator is so knowledgeable they should be asked why they didn't observe then this situation wouldn't have arisen.
And if they dont wish to observe then they should stop doing so.
-
I wouldn't spend too much yet you will take time to adjust to it. I had an 06 scorpa after riding gas gas and beta previously. The scorpa is a very different bike to ride. I found I had to try and weight the rear on the scorpa as compared to other brands its very heavy on the front and has a longer swinging arm.
Id think you are probably too keen with the throttle. The gas gas will be much quicker off the mark and lighter on the front end. Think about your position on the bike when it spins, are you leaning forward to try and keep the front down ?
-
2013 and 2014 GG have Hidria ignition system fitted same system as fitted by Sherco and Beta. In a thread about post 2012 reliability this may be more relevant than a rather misguided analysis of various businesses and individuals.
-
Laughable
bill & mick did trials as a side line it was a car repair garage. They could get you any bike you liked. I bought two yams off them. They retired when they felt like it , nothing to do with Gas Gas more to do with age.
White Bros, and I know Derek, sold yamaha, beta, scorpa and sherco trials. They were also a Honda road bike dealer. How have you determined that the closure of the business is related to only Gas Gas ?
is this the Nigel Birkett who is the uk importer for Ossa and Scorpa ? I wonder why he doesn't invest time in selling John Shirts bikes
Al the spanner ill ask him what he thinks of your comment on Sunday shall I ? As a sole trader selling only Gas Gas he'll be absolutely delighted.
