Anybody got a new transit and could tell us what its like compared to a trafic or transporter ?
-
Ive been running 80ml to 5 litres for years yes the tail pipe gets a little oily but its not excessive in my view. I think more oil = less friction so maybe less doesn't equal more power ?
But talking to ossa owners recently who are running 30ml to five litre !! Yes the ossa is fuel injected but it still has a bearing at each end of the conrod and a piston / bore to lubricate. The bikes in question are nearly a year old and the motors are not noisey. The main bearings are lubricated by gearbox oil like a gas gas.
So we maybe need a lot less than i thought?

Thats what i had hoped guys but it hasn't worked like that. I think you would have to have marked parts which had to last a number of rounds to achieve that but in a sport such as trials were lesser riders do lots of crashing i don't think its practical

Nobody can seriously think a 4t Beta is loud ? Just needs aftermarket pipes for early 4rts to make them as quiet as the Beta

Swinging arm, rear wheel, rear brake, front forks front wheel for a start

My first year still have nightmares about the weds 27 mile road ride through Glencoe. Lashing down and years before goretex.
Still went back the year after!
-
OK all the AJP and braktec clutches beyond 2005 are mineral not dot 4. However your 2012 may have formula hydraulics and im not sure if they are as well
-
Erm the evo model is made by Beta not gas gas, do you mean gas gas pro or beta evo ?
-
Just back from Santigosa where there were a number of Vertigos in action. Dougies and Dabills bikes were much louder than the others but certainly didn't seem to lack power. Development seems to be on going as looking at each bike there were different set ups being tried in terms of exhausts , yokes hydraulics etc.
Overall I was impressed with them

First thing i do to any new bike is take the stand off

Try and blow up the overflow tube to make sure its not blocked. Is there fuel going through to filter box out of rear of carb ?
-
Where did you get the clear float bowl ? Keihins do seem to run with a lot of fuel in the bowl, they certainly spill more than a dellorto, but when mine overflows it comes out of the overflow via the brass tube 'b' in your first pic

Two ways of doing this either the jitsie sprocket or the stick on type. I dont get how a sticker can be nearly £20

I suggest that if the BTC is 'British' then it should represent all the geographical character of this country in its abundant variety.
Agreed, BTC should test a range of skills on different terrain.
-
Change the slide from a 3.5 to a 3. You can get a similar result by raising the needle but its difficult to get it to run clean.
-
Its the big test for the Vertigo , must be this years biggest talking point.

The riders don't seem very good they keep falling off?
-
PS rode my Gas Gas yesterday, another trial completed on the same gearbox.
I hope they survive but 24m Euros is a lot.
sorry to drift back onto topic....

Gladly Neil
They went the way of the previous manufacturers of heavy uncompetitive bikes, now known as pre 65.
Twinshocks or pre 65s are not the "cure" for our current problems. Yes Ross you and lots of others like your twinshocks, I got bored of it rather quickly but may return one day. It doesn't matter to you or any like minded individuals that Gas Gas may go bust, but it should matter to Gas Gas that you bought a twinshock.
why do people spend more on a twinshock or pre 65 than they could have a new or recent modern bike for. Having had both there is no less maintenance in an SWM than a Gas Gas at my level. I think its more to do with the sections provided and the level of challenge for the rider but that's my opinion. Buy a twinshock and the easy course can be challenging enough and you don't have depreciation. Buy a new bike you have depreciation and a trial that's too easy.
Manufacturers need to improve quality as do those people putting flags in, volunteers they may be but they are crucial to the success of any event. There is an example of a very bad event in the last 24 hours, it was in Barcelona. What an appalling advert for our sport.

For those of you who are beginning to doubt your mouse yes this is the Gas Gas forum.
-
Trials dealers importers and factories going bust is a regular thing, its been happening since the 60s. However everyone still starts off using the same business plan.
-
Costs more than £200 to put my van and four people on the ferry so unless the trial is in calais... You are right about weather though

Jotagas still use a linkage Dan

I agree Hillary, good tyre regardless of weight. I just mentioned the weight in case people thought it was meant to be a lot lighter. I have just ordered another one. Only ever had three as my last couple of new bikes didn't come with them but i'm yet to split one. Its only a matter of time however as I have split loads of tyres over the years.
I have tried IRC and Dunlop but prefer the Michelin
