I recently tried to fit a used m cyl to my bike but couldn't get it to bleed. Eventually found that the bore in the cylinder was worn. Fluid didn't leak from the cylinder where the adjuster is but it wasn't building any pressure either
  2. Im hoping Vertigo do a lot better in terms of product testing than some recent new brands have. If the first bike has a number of issues that reputation sticks
  3. Maybe a bit of both copey
  4. Ok thanks Magicmat did you get an exclamation mark button off santa ? Im not visually impaired, i can see a dellorto hasn't got an overflow but in my experience they don't flood anywhere near as often as a keihin. This I think is because the dellorto runs less fuel in the bowl. Is this because the pilot jet is lower in the carb body ? Thanks for the explanation of what the floats do i thought they were just for show
  5. I recently tried connecting the overflow to a second vent i had drilled into the left side of the carb. I was hoping it would just recycle and still vent through the standard tube in the right side (behind the middle box). All was good until i went down a steep hill. Bike flooded, fail. Dellorto carbs don't have an overflow and don't seem to flood. So next experiment is to block the overflow i think the outcome may be the same. Dropping the float level makes the bike run week by the way.
  6. Fantastic video really captures the spirit of the event, the adversity suffered by the riders and the feeling of elation when you finish. This type of event is how trials started out. How did we swap this for what we have now ? Best Trial.
  7. Still think we need to invest in observer training and observers rather than subsequent communication of the score
  8. That doesn't matter, if an organiser applies to run a round of the No Stop World Trials Championship then a no stop trial is required. From what i have seen the sections looked much better than Japan
  9. Ha ha if the pays ok i could live with the travel
  10. Is the rim buckled badly?
  11. Yes as long as the proper tape is in the centre of the rim ? By the way is the tube the correct size ?
  12. Dan i think in some ways this has been happening since the re introduction of no stop. But its not so much the checkers and the riders its the organisers. Look at the footage from Japan of artificial obstacles joined up by metres of flat grass or even tarmac in places. If we are really saying that those are the best no stop sections they can come up with then that venue cannot be included in a no stop WTC. IF ? The FIM seriously want no stop trials they have to start by reviewing the venues used. Then they need to appoint someone to review the sections who understands the concept on the day before the event or weeks earlier. 10 large concrete blocks on tarmac doesn't make a no stop trial. No stop can only be applied when the venues and actual sections are designed for those rules. It cant work if we use stop permitted sections and just add some flat grass here and there
  13. That would be bad for the sport to have one individual controlling three of the brands assuming you are talking about Mr Tessier ? Nothing against him at all but I think a market needs more competition
  14. Exactly what should happen .
  15. I made an error years ago of using duct tape instead of rim tape. It works and means you dont have any problems locating the valve hole in the rim tape when you get a puncture during an event. However the tape wasn't on correctly and in places had gone across the ridge on the rim the tyre sits on. I had the problem you describe until i trimmed the tape.
  16. Shirty is still doing a press release for major events like WTC , BTC etc. Is this just out of habit or trying to keep the show on the road until something happens
  17. Can you organise next years nick and ill pay you £20 ?

Dabster down boy. No need !
  19. baldilocks replied to malcolm's topic in Gas Gas
We should have asked what carb is fitted first perhaps? fast throttle and a keihin should be light enough for anyone. Fast action and dellorto is a little heavier
  20. baldilocks replied to malcolm's topic in Gas Gas
Malcolm disconnect the cable from both ends. Slide the rubber boot from the twist grip end along to the end of the cable and hold vertically so it acts like a funnel. Fill with wd40 and work cable back and forth until wd40 runs out of the other end. This will make a noticeable difference to throttle action
