My point is how many 4rt or ossa systems have failed bearing in mind the 4rt was released in 2005 and the ossa in 2011.
In France, the usa and Germany trials are not permitted in streams. A carb bike will be of no assistance to our cause should lawmakers attempt this here.
Fuel injection works on trials bikes with significant environmental benefits.
DO YOU UNDERSTAND? COPEMECH DADOF2
And yes my next bike will be fi or battery

Dont you start Ross !
Car = 4 wheels often diesel expected to last 100k miles. Rarely used off road often turbo charged
Not relevant! !?

Best post so far this year ?

Start at Warden Law go kart track just off the A690 above Houghton le spring. I think their website is called karting north east, they have a trials park at the track.
This sunday Durham County Trials Club are running an event at Hope Farm, signed from Longframlington. Go along and have a look, trials riders in the NE are a friendly bunch

Start release is repatriation insurance i think rather than hospital cover
-
Wtc does need more variety

Oh and i broke the brake plate on the model im talking about at the ssdt. We also had to repair the bearing housing afterwards as the bearing spun in the hub. You'll be better off with something that looks the same....
How about early cagiva / merlin. Gerald Richardson had an ossa front wheel in his as I think they were the same
-
Nope the JCM vega Scarlett imported had a rear disc. Im talking about the bike similar to that rode by Pascal Couturier in the 86 wtc. The uk version was drum brake front and back but the wtc bike had a front disc i think.
All the previous uk JCMS had Leleu hubs, the rear was pretty big compared to say a grimeca hub but they were good brakes.
-
Nagesti (not sure spelling is correct) made the hubs for the Ossa gripper and the final 243 JCM imported into the UK by Quinns. Although the hubs in the JCM where smaller Ossa brake shoes fitted. The gripper hub has the sprocket and brake on the same side (conical) the JCM one didn't so it may be the JCM version. Only 10 of this model JCM were imported

Totally agree,
how many miles does a trials engine do compared to a bloody car !
-
Im in the ssdt photos with my Dad. Cool

I think Honda can give Bou what he needs or asks for. There have been a couple of tests done of Bou's bike over the years, one also compared the factory gas gas of Raga.
Adams bike was basically a production bike with some tweeks to suspension power delivery etc.
The mont is a completely different bike made to look similar. Bou and Fuji have different bikes to suit their individual requirements. But from what i recall the factory mont has different everything. Ie crankcases are different , gearbox is 4 speed, engine is bigger cc,cooling capacity increased to match cc, ignition is 3 map, everything is magnesium or titanium. The factory mont was lighter than the factory gas gas.
Honda have an exceptional rider who appears to have been provided with a virtually bespoke bike. Only one other rider has this and thats Fuji.
Bou also understands the mental aspect very well and puts the rest on the back foot constantly. The first year he was world champ i watched the last round in Andorra. At the practice session Raga, Doug and Fajardo tried and tried but couldn't clean a section. Toni turned up had a quick glance then cleaned it on the back wheel ! From that point on the rest were riding for 2nd.
I think he does the same indoors. He has great confidence but it wouldn't hurt him to have is minder on top of a step the rest have just fived. I think the no minder routine is more about sending a message to the rest.
-
Good point Rob214. Very impressive when he jumped back off the bottles but if its a 1 for sumping surely what Bou did is more of an advantage and should be scored in some way. Did he not get a one for it ?
-
and the number of turbo diesel Trials bikes currently available is ? I am interested to hear from someone who has drowned an ossa or mont how they got it going again?
-
Its probably the spring, the manifold was an issue on earlier models 2010 / 2011 but 2012 onwards they were changed and seemed ok.
id take the one way breather of the tank vent just to try it if the spring doesn't cure it, they can stick closed which then creates a fuel starvation issue.

Copey and dadoff are quoting problems not related to trials, as i asked originally how many TRIALS bikes have had FI components fail ?
Carbs do leak fuel, not helpful from the environmental point of view. Carbs do wear out and do require different jets and slides etc for different conditions. Nobody gives a 4rt a quick blip only for it to cough and stall.
-
I can't understand how copey and dadof ever let go of the simple yet reliable chisel and slate method of communication but i wish they hadn't.
-
you need to check the maximum weight that can be applied to the tow bar, this isn't the towing weight which would relate to a trailer or caravan total weight, its weight applied by the towed trailer to the tow bar.
on my old Peugeot 309 this was only 90 ish kilo, you need to weigh the rack plus bike to calculate the weight applied.
I was lucky I could quote the figures when a traffic cop said it looked like I had exceeded the weight as the back of the car was low, he took my word that I hadn't as I knew what he was talking about.
-
Was your bike originally manufactured as a twin shock or have you or somebody else fitted two shocks to a mono frame ?
-
This means i can teach Toni Bou ?
-
Go on to Facebook and search save Castleside quarry. Its now a proper off road facility but its only open occasionally. Also look up fuddy muckers
-
Santa brought me the fiberglass version of this helmet. Santa paid £125 and having used it twice im very happy with it. Good fit and doesn't restrict vision at all. Wrong time of year perhaps to really test ventilation
-
That would be fine if you sold the book as steve saunders life story and riding tips from Don Smiths earlier work in the 1970s ?? How many people who bought it new they were buying earlier work ?
-
Whats the exclamation mark intended to communicate copemech ?

This thread isnt providing much in terms of objective analysis of advantages / disadvantages.
My gas gas like many newer bikes has a keihin PWK 28 carb. It does have very smooth power but it leaks a lot of petrol when dropped despite floats being set correctly.
In addition the carb is more susceptible to weather / altitude than say a dellorto.
When i went to Valtellina 3 day in the alps we were riding between 1500 and 3000m above sea level. I was re setting the mixture screw all the time.
So does the fi system on either the mont or the ossa adjust for weather and altitude? Given nobody in this thread has reported an fi system failure it would be a significant advantage to me if fi was self adjusting next time i go to Valtellina
