So back to Vertigo A five year old carb is worn, not that it stops the bike running but may effect performance. At £100 for an injector if it lasts a number of years i don't think its really an issue

Yes i use super unleaded in the bike.
  3. Ok is the bike vertical ? Its ok as long as you havent put more than 450 in, just my view, but the manuals said 500 at one point and the engine hasn't really changed. The motor does have a breather to allow any over fill out on the left side. Leave it a couple of hours and it should settle.

Heard similar tales from garages about super market diesel. Fuel quality will not help carbs or injectors. Most bikes with a carb have a filter as part of the tap
  5. Evening Ross ASSUME assumptions can make an ASS out of U and ME ! ☺ if its for the oil put 400ml in and then let it settle. I always just put 450 straight in but i leave it a while with the drain plug out. If you are using the window as a guide the bike needs to be on its wheels and perpendicular, you should be able to see oil with 400 in but try and get the window half full.
  6. I have a bad feeling about this thread.....
  7. Hi all I recently rode my air cooled gas gas for the first time. I bought as a complete bike but have had to do quite a bit so far such as fitting an 18mm kickstart shaft and a pedal and clutch case to match from a JTX model. I noticed two things in the 30 mins test. 1. It gets very hot, the tail pipe is almost too hot to touch where it exits the middle box so i wonder if the timing is retarded too far. I seem to remember they kicked back a lot but this doesn't. The second issue is the bike has quite a flat spot at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle, this may also be timing related but the bike has a noticeable induction noise. The filter box is the proper one but the lid has been drilled which ill tape up for now. It sounds like an air cooled yam with the seat off and as the splash guard down the rear of the filter box is home made im wondering if the proper part acts as some kind of baffle for the air intake? Has anybody got a picture of this model with the seat off ?

Yes they do but it just runs off crankcase pressure its not electronic which i think the ossa and mont are. Not convinced two stroke oil can be such an issue when its mixed at 100 / 1 ? And is £100 really so much if it fails every 5 years ? That's about the price of a braktec master cylinder which a beginner could break every week
  9. Depends if the floors level ? What are you trying to do ?
  10. baldilocks replied to Andy's topic in Vertigo
    Probably means the fuel pump
  11. Haven't france done the same for next year ?

Two guys from the North East do the Ssdt on their 2006 model GG pro's. Ian Rutter and Geoff Fielding. They were on those bikes in 2012 and 2013 and i saw them in some of wetfeets recent photos from a Richmond trial. From an environmental point of view either stop carbs leaking or go FI i don't mind which option is taken.
  13. Thats good, if we could cut the enduro / mx bits out i could use that to show new landowners what a trial is
  14. Ben a slide is about £60 so if thats not a 3.5 by the time you buy jets cable fitting etc you would be better off with a new one off splatshop. Also you need a fitting kit for your bike as the reed block on your bike is too small a diameter and too short. Trial and enduro were doing a good deal a while back on the whole kit and carb. What you trying to achieve?

  17. some of this is personal to my riding style but is hopefully going to give you some insight. Had alpinestars back in 2003, bought them cheap in Italy when on a ski ing holiday. Very comfy, good support for your feet but the uppers are soft. I tend to rub the inside of my boots on the frame, I wore through the alpinestars in a month ! Forma / gaerne as others have said not a lot of support, had both. Forma where at least comfortable, I found the gaernes very uncomfortable as they took the skin off my ankle first time out so went on ebay. I currently have sidi, very comfy, soles are very good and provide good support, ankle support not as good, I have twisted an ankle in them. Rainers which are imported by Birketts are probably the best vfm boot I have had in recent years and i'll be going back to them next. Rainers are not that trendy but they do the job, they are padded internally and last a year of major trials including the SSDT etc. I stopped using them when I got given a new set of Gaernes as part of a deal on a sherco, I have been round the houses since but really, despite spending more, I haven't found anything that suits me better.
  18. Hi Chris Start with the cheap stuff. A slow throttle makes a lot of difference for less than £20. Even cheaper but more hassle to fit is a 1mm base gasket quite effective on the bigger bikes. After that flywheel weight, longer front pipe or low comp head. Had a low comp head on a 300 once but didnt like it, seemed to build revs more quickly. Have you ridden one as the 2014 280 is much softer than the 2013,

Been to the trial today. My 2014 model bought easter weekend has now consumed 1 set of rear pads 1 pair of grips and one set of front wheel bearings. It could do with a tyre. Its appalling isnt it. Al the spanner he thinks you're great. He doesn't know who you are so maybe you can ring him ?
  20. Looks long ? MX ones are probably stronger ?
  21. Thats a moto fox shock from a twin shock bike by the looks of it
  22. Good rider on a twin shock will beat a beginner on anything. Get some tuition or training then bling up the stuff you break
  23. Actually he is called Glenn, that'll be 99% of the problem....
