Andy,
(I appreciate this might not be the best place to post this)
Just a thought, as TC features grow, is there a user guide or a place where we can post the stupid questions, "How do I ....."
How to post pictures/links to pictures/Videos
How to use the search engine
Not missing any posts ("view new posts", "mark all posts as read" etc.)
Setup a Blog, track a blog etc.
Etc.
I keep trying to do a search, say of all posts in the last week, but I'm incompetant and can't get the results I want.
-
You're welcome.
And here's the latest on Eurosport 2 Trials Schedule up until Monday 19/3

Totally agree with Andy and Crosser - excellent idea
Maybe a stage further is to suggest paying a little more for the use of the farmers land, into a "Tree Fund".
Everytime it is used the fund is boosted and more trees get planted.
Guess the main issue which the farmer may be able to help with or have ideas on, is WHERE to plant the said trees.

I have to say, I'm certainly not offended by EL's comments.
I think you're right, they are intended to provoke a reaction and what a pleasure it is to be of service
-
I have to agree 110% with Slapshot, for me the Lampkins are THE trials family.
Only the other day I sent an email to John Hulme suggesting that a series in the YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE charting the Lampkin family would follow the Vesty article nicely.
By an unfortunate twist of fate, I believe the next edition will include an article on Eddie Lejeune; Hopefully the real one rather than the TC imposter with unusual opinions.

Hi Techno Head,
For Techno manuals I usually recommend sending a very polite email to
info@betamotor.com marked for the attention of Gianluca Olivieri
I and others after me have had success either in receiving printed copies or PDF copies.
As for the exploded parts diagram, I've not come across any fopr the '99 125 but I'm sure there's someone out there that'll come up with goods.
Regards

Scappington, You might be right.
And a more cynical person might suggest the cancellation has something to do with decreasing Raga's opportunities of recovering his deficit
My personal query relates to 'what does Octagon bring to the show' ?
Sheffield was a great event all credit to the organisers!!!
Other than TV coverage, what was missing that could justify having Octagon in control and able to call the shots and charge huge (?) fees for the pleasure?
-
Yeah, sorry I meant Neil (spent too much time thinking about Hawkstone).
I don't think I'm suggesting Sheffield is a cash cow,
but I still don't understand what difference it would have made to the business model if Octagon had been involved.
Do they CONTRIBUTE to the organisation of the event making it more viable and if so what's in it for them?
Do they MILK it (sorry no pun intended) making it less viable?
Do they put constraints in place making it impractical and if so why?
Does anyone know?
Can anyone (Boss Crosser?) ask Martin/Neil?
Are they in a position to explain?
I'm as frustrated as the next man. Maybe understanding it will help us to accept it.
-
Hi Andy,
We had a great time.
We would gladly pay towards the costs.
Main plus points for us were,
- Larger area for camping (not squashed into the public area)
- Access to the BBQ (whether that includes a cook or we cook our own)
- Camaraderie
- TV screen
-
I fail to understand why Octagon impose restictions (finances etc.) on these events.
If we (well Martin and Jake) can hold an indoor event in the UK and make it viable then what does Octagon bring to the mix ?
If all countries took the same stance then couldn't the series work without Octagon ?
What am I missing ????
-
Okay, my pen'th.
I agree with Jack that TRIALS is about crossing difficult terrain under control.
However, to make TRIALS into a competition there must be way to score it and that introduces rules. Then, as was mentioned, if the better rider can cross the terrain without stopping then he/she should be rewarded.

Hi Mike,
I've just emailed you the pages from the manual.
Whichever way you look at it, the bike's not a spring chicken and needs looking after.
I'd say a sender unit won't cost much from a Beta dealer and would be well worth the spend just to getting it running right.
You haven't entered where you are, but JLI (John Lampkins) are always really helpful.
-
Mikee
I've scanned a few relevant pages on forks and also the wiring diagram
I've zipped 'em and tried to attach the 2MB zip to this post but failed.
Anyone know how to do it.
Alternatively Mikee, PM me your email address and I'll sent it.
Regards.

I've got a 97 techno and manual.
the manual is really just an owners manual
I've not come across a workshop manual
If you're interested I'll have a look tonight and see what info it has re forks.

Thanks HL
My subscription for this year has just gone, but your instructions were spot on for cancelling it for next year.
-
Yeah, there's a standing invisible caveat on my posts that you can't rely on the info
Although, I have to say, it's be far more reliable than last year AND they are showing each round several times. Last year they generally only showed each round once .... miss it and you're stuffed.

I have to say that it will be a shame if the championship is decided on mechanical reliability rather than rider ability
I think the constraints imposed on spare bikes and time to repair are rediculous!!!

Okay, just add a little more into the mix,
I took both my 97 Technos (250 & 125) to JLI for a once over.
Chris said to start the bike up in neutral and leave to warm for minute or so.
Then, holding clutch in, knock it into 1st and ride it.
Keeping the clutch in, knock it up the gears one at at time to top and back down.
I find that before I get back to !st the plates have freed off and I can stop.
I usually find very little sticking after that.
I'd be interested to learn how much a new set of friction plates are.
