Hey, thanks got all the comments.
Sounds really good .... I'm getting excited .... I notice the website is running a count down!!!
I recon my lad is gonna struggle to see anything on Sunday so Saturday is a must.
Not sure I can cope with 2 nights under canvass with him so we'll probably come down Sat morning early and stay till Sunday eve.
Guess the best plan of action is to pack the tent away Sunday evening, giving the roads chance to clear a bit before we leave.

Hi,
I am planning on taking my lad down to Hawkstone 29/30 July... we missed last year
We want to make the most of the weekend so if anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it.
What happens in the days before, anything happening worth going down on the 28th for ?
What was the campsite like last year - suitable for me and a nine year old ?
Anyone recommend a local/handy <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central> or PremierTravel room only kind of place instead ?
If we just went for one day, is it obvious that 30th is preferable ?
What time does it all start and how much earlier should we get there, what's the entrance queing like ?
Would it be wise to carry fold up chairs around so we have something to stand on or are there plenty of good viewing points esp for the shorter kids. ?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys (n gals?).
I really appreciate all the opinions/comments.
You've kinda confirmed what I thought, but didn't want to accept.
Bad idea trying to make living out of a hobby.
It sounds so good, if it was possible everyone would be doing it.
Those that are already doing it are stuggling to make ends meet.
Spose I'll just have to keep dreaming 'n scheming.

LOL
Neonsurge, you might be right.
I used to be a programmer and wanted better things.
Now I'm a PM and I ... well... want better things.
I hate being the middle man trying to get programmers to meet sales promises.
I just think there's a need for some decent practice areas, run properly, with good obstacles, events, facilities etc.
Just not sure there's a wage in it.
Trials riders, and I certainly count myself in, are tight fisted.

5 litres fuel at 70:1 = 71.4ml oil .... so use 70ml

At last, looks like Barcelona is scheduled for
Thu 9th March @ 17:00 (16:00 UK Time) on ES2
Repeated again at 22:00 (21:00 UK time) on ES2
It's been that long I've forgotten the results so it should be exciting!!!

Here's one to dream about.
I'm getting increasingly disillusioned with my job (IT Project Manager) and think more and more about quitting.
I'd love to make a living in something trials related.
I keep thinking about working out how to get hold of some land to allow Trials practice on and maybe club events.
I know there's lots of red tape .... but ....
Would there be enough income to make a living ?
Within the UK where d'you think this would succeed best ?
Would you pay, how much, for as good practice site ?
What would you do ?

Rockwool is 4inch insulation that we traditionally use to line the loft with - to try and keep some heat in our houses. Us brits hate the cold and we have lots of it.
It usually comes in rolls, rolled up it's about 2feet high and 2feet diameter.

You really need to do something about this problem.
I bought a 125 Techno that had a patch on the exhaust because the owner didn't remedy the problem and wore a hole in the silencer.
Then, with the patch on and slightly proud of the original, the patch started wearing.
I bent the silencer brackets slightly to gove some clearence.
Not sure about Rev3 but on the Techno the exhaust mounts inside the frame so it can't be packed out to move it away from the wheel.
Only other real option is to grind the frame mounting and silencer mountings.

At the weekend I repacked mine and the pads using one sheet ... piece of cake.

I had to smile at the thought of my bike getting addicted to ether

Excellent info, thanks Telecat.

Hi,
I'm thinking of taking my lad to the Youth A & B National Trial at Dob Park
on 19th Feb.
I know it's near Otley but can anyone be a tad more specific on exactly where it is.
Is anyone here riding ... we'll look out for you.
Anyone been to watch it before ? Is it really good ?
When does it start ? Should we aim for the start ?
When is it likely to finish ? should we aim to get there later in the day ?

So, Milan was repeated today.
Can't see when Barcelona is scheduled (and hopefully Belfast after that).
Anyone else any ideas ?

In the Screwfix catalogue there is a "Bolt Grip Set".
They look similar to sockets but are designed for exactly this problem.
They appear to have spiral teeth on the inner edge.
Not sure how good they are.
The catalogue I'm looking at is issue 77 and these appear on page 466.
Part No 96028-77 cost

Great news.
I'm keen to bring my lad down (any excuse!) .... he (we!) loved Sheffield.
Where abouts is Brickfields ?

Hi Scorpa3,
I designed and built my own 3 bike trailer.
It's not that difficult if you're mechanically minded.
I deliberately made it as flat as possible and made a couple of dollies.
So I just tip it on it's side onto the dollies and wheel it into the back garden and chain it against the fence. Takes up very little room.
Hope this gives you some ideas.
Oh, also I made the main draw bar (holding the hitch) removable to take some of the length out of it. Just a couple of 8mm high tensile bolts to undo.

Eurosport Website is suggesting
that they will be showing Trials on ES2
on Sunday 12th Feb at 13:00 (midday UK time)
Says Milan so it might be a repeat for those that missed it.
Then again it might be Barcelona.
Or they might change their mind altogether .... again

Hi ev and welcome.
I have a Techno '97 250 and my lad has a Techno '97 125.
We're not good riders but we have a good time.
The bikes are solid enough and do exactly what we want them to.
Their reliable and have capabilities far in excess of ours.
In 97 I understand Dougie rode the Techno so they have a good pedigree.
You'll see on these forums that there's absolutely loads of Beta riders with enormous amounts of advice.
There might be better bikes for the best riders, but for general use I'd say go for a Techno.
You won't be making a mistake!

Hi again,
thanks for all the comments.
Sounds like WD40 might not be ideal for the electrics and I'm not keen on spraying with paint or enamel.
I'll track down some proper ingition spray.
I might also explore Essex Riders idea of effecting some kind of seal.
Must be better to prevent than cure.

You're very welcome, but keep an eye on the schedule.
It does seem to change and I believe the times are Euro times so one hour diff.
