I've never thought of that, makes sense though. I'd have tightened them up with a 4 foot extension bar if I had one.

Ahaaaaaaa......I knew there was something suspicious Dabster. There's no smoke without fire:
-
Guilty of fishing for a bite, and well you know it
Although if you got round with Raga on the back, I might give it a try, I reckon you two together might weigh the same as me

I feel like I've got it in for IRIS a bit, but it's the one product that really stands out for bad reports. Just search for IRIS, you don't even have to put 'snap' in the search, and here's a few recent ones, none of them by the same people, some of them containing multiple reports of snapping:
http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index....amp;#entry85413
http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index....mp;#entry106660
http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index....854&hl=iris
To add to that, I've seen two snap at trials, including the one where I predicted it was an IRIS just because it had snapped. I'll be getting the heavy mob turning up at my door to silence me, but with a bit of luck they'll come on bikes and only a few of them will make it
P.S. Dabsters on the payroll, he's in every one of 'em saying how good they are.

I don't think I'm putting too much effort in to turning the bars as the back end is actually stepping round.
Initially, if you want the back end to step left, then you're going to be turning right, and forcing your weight left - so that if you didn't step the back round you'd actually be toppling over, as you've thrown your weight off centre. I suppose as you're stepping it left and the back wheel is in the air you are turning slightly left though.
Clear as mud?
-
Yeah, I think you'll always hear some good reports of any kit, otherwise they wouldn't be able to stay in the market, but there's just too many bad reports out there for Iris. I certainly won't risk one.
I never need half links these days, as big snail cams allow removal of a full link.
-
I see a lot of people with the nut locked up against the rim. I'm sure all it's there for is to stop you losing the stem when putting a pump on it, so I have mine locked up against the valve cap.
-
I've heard nothing but bad news about the Iris chains.
Someone had snapped a chain the other week, and probably quite annoyingly I asked if it was an Iris. "Yep", another one bites the dust.
I've tried Regina this time (which never ceases to amuse my 12 year old), the juries out on that one, can't tell until I've had it a while.
I've not got a particular recommendation, other than the Renthal R1 which you'll obviously pay through the nose for, but in my view I would avoid Iris.

I think I know your Mum and Dad, we used to organise with them. Very often used to be me, my old man (Barry Hinton), Geoff (guessing that's your dad) and is it Michael (your brother) was nearer my age, marking out together. They both had Bultaco's in those days. I can picture your mum, but can't remember her name? Anne?
Good to see you've taken on the mantle, I'd seen your name about and was wondering if there was a link.

Is the blonde lad on the front row Paul Waugh,, he used to ride a 200 SWM "very well" I still see his brother Andy riding his fantic 240 now.
Scrumpy
Waugh!!!! That's it - dunno where I had Ralph from, but it's somehow similar, a bit, ah well not much, and George has come up with John Wallin back right and Alan Stewart.
So we've got two left I think.
Wasn't the lad in the middle with the dark hair also one of the Waugh's??? Is that Andy maybe?
And third from the right on front row, is that maybe John Wallin's lad?

Sorry, missed this reply as I replied at the same time. I've driven past a few times, and thought it looked like it was still up and running.
I remember when they just had the wooden shop near the traffic lights next to the Cleveland Bay.
Is Peter still around?
-
I had a feeling that even if I heard the name I wouldn't know that one - and probably the one on George's left.
Was he related to Martin Buckworth, big lad who used to ride a JCM?
Edit: You mean 3rd from left hopefully 4th is George McGee.
-
Yeah Ray might remember. Say hello from me, (if he remembers me).
Didn't realise George McGee was still knocking around trials. He would almost definitely know.
-
The SAS normally sh!t in a bag and take it with them, so don't buy the cheap ones from Aldi
-
I don't wanna knock you back when you're helping but I don't think either are right. I dunno why, but I've got the name Ralph stuck in my head for the blond lad on my right. He used to ride an SWM I think. And I think the dark haired lad on my left was the son of the guy at back right, but I don't remember his name either so I'm not helping much
One breakthrough - the little lad 2nd from right, we think was Michael Brown. Not the same one, as he's be nearly 40 now, but from the same area of the country.
-
Yep - George McGee, that's it. Cheers.
His lad Lee was a few years younger than us.
-
I reckon the year may have been 1980. Found one of me out on my brand spanking new Fantic 75 at Birk Brow, Guisborough, labelled 1980.
Look at the boiler suit - wow :-)
See! I told you! Once upon a time I was little!
-
While I was up dropping the kids off at my parents, they threw a few old photos my way, and this was amongst them.
I don't remember some of the names. Would be interesting to see if any of them are still riding today. I'd imagine some of their kids are.
Guisborough Youth Presentation
Not sure what year it is, maybe around 81 or 82?
Back row: Alan Williams, David Clarke, ???????????, George someone????, ??????????, ?????????????
Middle: ??????????, Nigel Ward, Mike Lannigan
Front Row: Mark Johnson???, ????????, Gaz Hinton, ??????????, ?????? Brown (his dad Aubrey Brown, from Scarborough), Gary Ianson???
-
I just don't listen that's my problem
-
??????
I can only suggest - go in to a command prompt (cmd) and type "ipconfig /all" using both wireless and wired.
Nothing in there is sensitive info, so you could paste it on here. Your IP addresses will be private ones anyway, hidden behind NAT on the router.
I'm just thinking that maybe there is a DHCP scope for each of them, and maybe DNS settings are different for each?
Still not clear in my mind why, if it's a DNS problem, you'd get to the domain, but then not to pages within it, but would be interesting to see what the settings are.
Have a look in Internet explorer - Tools - Internet Options - Connections - LAN settings and see if any of the tick boxes are checked. Shouldn't need a proxy set, but some virus' have been known to dump a proxy in there and have you going through their proxy for all your browsing. The more usual virus method is to set your DNS to some spoof server which then sends you off to a spoof ebay etc. Still your symptoms don't sound much like that either.
Maybe same firewall on all the devices, but not active on the wireless?
-
Unless you're well overweight it will be fine. The 200's have more power than you think.
-
Great vid - wow you moved to Diamondback!!!
Be great to see more bike trials stuff on here.
You never fancied a go with an engine Ben?
Heck you've already been World Champion without the burden of the motor, what's the chances of you trying it without having to pedal one day?
Thanks for posting the vid anyway mate. Who's the music - I know I should probably know but I'm an old fart
-
My lad's a year younger, and skinny as a rake. Maybe about same height though.
He has a Sherco 80 with the smaller forks, and full size wheels (Been on it about a year now). I'd say you definitely don't want to go smaller than that.
As he's 12 (nearly 13) he would definitely be B class in this country so able to ride a 125.
Size wise, my lad doesn't look daft on my 290 (only difference is the bigger forks), although the engine scares the socks off him, and the lighter forks of the 80 are an advantage when man handling the bike around.
To give him a bit of growing room I'd be looking towards a 125, but maybe the 80 will be enough to get him going.
No doubt others will have other views, and I'd be persuaded, but above is my view on it.

Not in the forums, but there's a pretty healthy classified section available from the front page of TrialsCentral itself. Go to the front page, then look for the "Community" drop down box and select "Classifieds"
