  1. more likely the second I think. Your brakes are going to last for about 10 uses maximum if you've got a leak like that I reckon. How long did it do that for? As you say it was when you started riding, and I'm presuming you still had the same when you finished, I reckon you're looking at fluid leaking back past the seal into master cylinder.
  2. Yeah sorry, just to clarify, I was pointing out that 80:1 is easily enough oil for the modern trials bike, and you may want even less for the Gasser, not arguing that it was specifically the right amount. Clear as mud
  3. I've run 80:1 synthetic on my 04 Sherco 290 for 5 years now. I think I may have the most reliable Sherco ever. Not even a set of rings yet, and runs sweet as a nut. If my bike isn't running absolutely clean as a whistle, I know there must be a bit of water in the float bowl.
  4. I think you're right, sometimes it's sad to see people struggle on in sport when they've reached a peak and heading down, but in Dougie's case, he's still so close to the top, and got so much to offer to Beta and to his team mates, that I think he should hang in there as long as he can. I wouldn't discount a comeback - heck the new Beta has even got proper suspension When one or two Brit boys start passing him, then maybe he should think about it, but absolutely not yet. Why would we expect our best current British rider to hang his boots up??? It's mad! He's only looking poor by his own brilliant standards. Most of the rest of the WTC boys would still love to be up there with him. Give him that feckin new Beta, let's hope it's a decent tool, and let's see him kick some Spanish butt next year (or even the year after)
  5. Looks like it needs a bit of a waterproofing job done on the air filter for the UK market.
  6. I believe the time has come. I'd love to have lost. My tenner will be going in too though! My local charity is Hospice of the Good Shepherd I'm a totally unreligious bloke so the name would normally put me off, but this is our works charity and not religion based - brilliant work they do though. If I put this in through work your money is doubled, everyone's happy - except perhaps Dougie. Next year?
  7. Looks like you might be concentrating too much on getting your bum backwards. I reckon not so far backwards, but more of a jump downwards as you let the clutch out. Looking at your back suspension your silencer never goes below the level of the tyre. I reckon you need to get more compression on that suspension just as you go.
  8. Robot wars springs to mind I know it's cruel and unfair, but I'm a Scorpa hater. I can't get over it. Only age will do it
  9. It's an idea, but don't let it make you think the 125 won't have the power if it's running right. The 125 is hellish powerful when you wind it up. I actually think I ride slightly better on one except on stuff I need some torque to get me out of trouble, and I'm about 125Kg. You're a bit far away for me to suggest someone to have a look at it.
  10. I noticed that in the Quantum of Solace trailer on some award show a few nights ago - it jumps on to a boat. I tried to freeze frame it about 20 times, and eventually decided it was a 4RT. Strange how they always convert trials bikes rather than MX bikes for these jobs eh. Are the decent stunt riders all ex trials riders?
  11. Number 63 from Derby? Must be in his early 50's now? Is it really him?
  12. When I saw the title, I thought - This seems like my kind of event, but you seem to have let me down Get it organised though and I'll be there Not sure if the insurance will be too easy to get if you're over honest when applying for the permit. Definitely no unwritten rules, a couple of tins never heart anyone - apart from a bloke who got his 4 pack caught under his feet, blocked his brake and ploughed in to the back of an articulated lorry.
  13. I think they can give that feel when you first get on them. The 4 stroke sort of feels like it's holding you back all the time. I found this a little with the Sherco 4 stroke too, and I had a nightmare in mud, because there seemed to be a lack of feeling. I'm still a 2 stroke bod, but I found the 4RT to be much better when I knocked it up a couple of gears. It felt less restrictive, and copes much better in the mud. There's plenty of torque there to handle the higher gears. I'm not arguing with you, it's personal perception, but worth trying again if it's only the power that's stopping you. Knock it up a gear or two and wind it on.
  14. If you don't hold the rear brake on, it won't feckin stall so much I still can't kick my KTM - I have to step off and kick it right footed.
  15. I see they were thinking of you Kinell when they designed the new one. How many other bikes have got a waterproof cigarette carrying case? What the feck is the awkward black box bolted on as an afterthought? All the electrics in there?
  16. 18. Ah feck - not staying over this year, unfortunately I have to go and get drunk elsewhere this year. Was a good year that! A couple of years ago now, or was it three? 4 oclock in the morning, 3 hours sleep, and one of my better rides round the mountain, although I've been on a downward slope for a long time - what's the saying? The older I get, the better I was It was the year we decided to take the wheels off Jenkins van, but were too p*ssed to manage it Also the year that local chatted me up in the toilets, and I've had counselling ever since
  19. By the way Billy, looks like you may have entered twice, you feeling energetic? Or have we really got two by the same name and I've just scrubbed one out by mistake - one linked with Bootle, one with Derby - hopefully will mean something to you. Let me know anyway so I can sort it out either way - or see Jean on Sunday and get one cheque ripped up.
  20. On a brighter note, I've scrubbed another load of sections for you today, so it's not like you're the first riders through if you're early. Even Elwyn (at 70 years young) was scrubbing the rocks of for you. Most of them ride OK, although as those who have ridden it before will know, there are a few 'awkward' ones. Look out for 23,24,27,28 luvvvverly rocks and waterfalls. I'm observing on Sunday, so watch your backs as my KTM comes past you with a gaggle of observers following on bikes - we'll be trying to stay ahead of the riders. Hopefully we'll manage enough observers to keep it at 40 sections, otherwise we have a few lesser sections which may be skipped.
  21. Entry list below, and added to our website. From what I hear a couple of people have been surprised how early they are off, but I think the lions share of the entry were received within a day or two of regs going out, then just a trickle after that. To be honest, that was made me a bit more up beat about it after speaking with the sec a while ago - loads of entries within a few days, but then next to nothing - with a few riders dropping out, and a few duplicates, we're below the 50 mark - lot of work for that many but hope they enjoy it anyway. Still struggling for observers, but we do need almost as many as we've got riders If anybody would consider observing, or knows someone who might, then drop me a line - 07879 423330, you shouldn't be out there for long eh
  22. Up tonight - I promise - I went through it last night and had a few duplicates, so need to just check a few things with the secretary. First rider is off at 9.31 and only 50 of you now after duplicate removal. Not sure who you are, otherwise I may be able to give you a clue, but definitely on tonight mid to late evening when I get back from marking out. I'll update this thread when done.

    Fm 350

Pretty sure the FM350 was the Fantic 200. Dunno why they called it the 200, it was actually 156cc, but I must admit it had some grunt for a bike of that size (at that time). I'm guessing yours is a standard rearward kickstart. I never saw them, but I heard there were some later Fantic 200's with the forward kickstart (so presumably the 240 engine sleeved down (or with different barrel/head). I'd imagine they're pretty rare, as I was living in the middle of trials country at the time and never saw one. Yours was a good solid bike in it's day. Good bit of fun these days too I'd imagine.
  24. Just mentioned on the Hipwell thread, but literally a minute ago. I've asked for it to be moved a week either way next year to avoid the Hipwell. I've got to have a look what is on during the weekend before and after.
  25. I've asked if we can move our Novogar date by a week either way next year so it doesn't clash with the Hipwell (if we're awarded a Novogar next year). I wouldn't mind being able to have a go at it, and we'd also benefit from a fair few extra riders without the clash.
