  1. I must admit I have yet to run mine dry, TrialTrial, my comment about the electric tap on the 2012 4T not having a reserve setting was passing on what I had been told by Lampkins. I hope it does have a reserve - I'll have to check it out! The owner's manual is silent on the matter, in fact it's pretty vague about the fuel tap anyway.
  2. Hi trialholic. Since the electric tap "closes" when the engine stops I suspect Beta felt there was no need to also fit a manual closing system. mb, I've just re-read the thread and realised you guys have Revs so you're lucky, you've got a "proper" tap.
  3. How do you turn the main tank off mb? I haven't bought an aux tank (yet!) but the main tank (2012 Evo 4T) has an electric tap which has a manual "on" position plus, confusingly, an "off" setting but which only means that the tap is off IF the engine isn't running, otherwise, when the engine is running, the tap is energised and the fuel flows. As an aside I find it a nuisance there is no reserve setting on the main tank tap.
  4. Not mine, two bolts each side. Can't advise on other matters though as it's my first Beta
  5. The rider's manual (download from http://www.americanbeta.com/sites/default/files/pdf/2012Support/Owners%20Manuals/Mototrial/2011%20Evo%20250-300%204%20stroke.pdf) page 66 gives some details of the resistance check on the generator output (called service power supply in the manual). Sorry, can't help with any other info, but yes, the diagram(s) suck. Can't understand why Mr Beta doesn't have a better version on-line.
  6. Scorpa are the only ones who produce a proper trials bike with a high seat (the long ride) and for various reasons that is what I am contemplating as the best choice, for me.Otherwise I doubt if I would be considering them, especially as there is little financial advantage as against the other (popular) two strokes.
  7. I recognise this could be a difficult subject but here goes. I am evaluating the purchase of a new Scorpa (the one with the Sherco motor) but before doing so I
  8. They should be allen socket headed sleeve nuts, but you need a 7mm allen key/driver, which is not a popular size. The torx "fitting" you can see is probably from how the nuts were forged should not perform any function. Once you've got the nuts off there are some slim washers underneath which soemtimes lodge in the holes and can make life removing the barrel a trifle tricky.
  9. I would have thought a phone call or visit to Mark at BVM (who are close to you) would be your best bet. I have no association with the business but I believe he provides a competitive deal. Don't forget RRPs do not necessarily bear any relationship to the price actually charged.
  10. Confirmed at 2012 WTC calendar However I suspect this may turn out to be just be a provisional calendar. Note that most rounds are two day events and GB is apparently the final round. Exciting showdown for the title?
  11. Have you removed the coil unit but not refited it correctly? If I remember, on my '05 model, it was essential to make sure the coil/CDI unit was fitted correctly, but I can't recall exactly what I needed to do, except to try different combinations of mounting bracket and coil mounting holes! I didn't have to modify anything though - Mr Sherco had it right in the first place - I just had to replicate that.
  12. Gerard Trueba, 10 years old and only 3rd in the 2011 world championships - but absolutely brilliant! I wonder how amazing the world champion is!
  13. Don't forget the first batch is supposed to have AJP brakes. The video may be of a model fro the first batch.

Is that a fuel tap at the base of the tank? Also silencer outlet seems to be rearward rather than sideways
  16. My pleasure Neo, but you'll have to let us in on what you're plotting!
  17. Try Todotrial.com, Todotrial.com I don't seem to be able to copy a link directly to the page with the 2011 Sherco pictures, but folllow any link to a new bike (the Ossa one currently on the main page will do), then follow the link at the bottom of the page which comes up - it says "indice prueba", which apparently means "index test".
  18. Full marks Jake for your rapid and informative response. Clearly it will be for each person to determine whether they believe one day of competition is worth the cost of travel/accommodation. I am not trying to be negative, but from my personal perspective it was the two days of competition which convinced me the trip was worth it last year. Good luck for later this year - we need to keep a round on British soil!
  19. I see that the FIM have changed some world round dates. I can understand the change to the Japanese round(s) - the poor souls affected by the quake/tsunami need every help they can get. But why reduce Fort William to just a single day? Last year's two day event was spot on, considering the travelling most folk had to undertake. I'm sure the traders in Fort William appreciated the business. I expect L+M events are a trifle unhappy. I don't wish to speak out of turn but the future viability of such an event surely hinges around the original business plan (ie income over two days, publicity for sponsors over two days, etc) and it's as if the FIM are not fussed about that. There are too few people these days willing/able to organise a UK world round and I'm sure this move won't help. Perhaps there's more to this than is immediately obvious?
  20. You can't always rely upon Sherco using a new part number for a new part which is similar to a prevoius one. I found this out a while ago with a piston for a 2005 290. The new (2008 I think it was) piston had the same number as the 2005 part but the new one did not have the transfer hole in the piston skirt. If you were to talk to Sherco parts dealers I think they will confirm there are several instances of this type. Perhaps inevitable with the many parts which make up the bike!
  21. Still can't see any details on Eurosport UK schedule(s). Anyone got any further info?
  22. I wonder why there's a change to Marzocchis. Sherco have stuck with Paiolis/Cerianis in the past.
  23. See here for information. Sherco Scottish Is this a weight-saving exercise of some sort? I've heard Scotsmen in kilts save weight by not having unnecessary clothing!
