What about the rain in summer? Six hour days in winter don't turn me on. It's bad enough with eight hour days here in winter.
-
Aw nuts Bigfoot, watched "Monarch of the Glen" last night and felt like moving there. Pity about winter though.
-
Maybe he didn't get caught moving rocks (sorry Grimbo, couldn't resist it..)

Fair point, but Cannondale were dipping their toes into a market of which they had no understanding. They had been told that the bike was too revolutionary, expensive and wouldn't sell but they ignored the advice.
Clearly this isn't the case with Gas Gas. Re the possible bailing of investor(s). Gas Gas took on investors for the development of the 4s enduro bike and expansion (amoungst others) That's all water under the bridge. In the one option the investor(s) could call in their money which has already been spent but they'd only get a fraction back. So it would be dumb to do so when Gas Gas are thriving. Or are they?
Second is that Gas Gas may have called for investors for the 4S trials bike and it may be that this investor has bailed before too much has gone down the tubes. In my opinion this is the more likely option (if the rumour is true). So it means that the 4S will take longer because it will be developed at GG expense.
My 2c worth.

Could be that said investors are nervous after the Gas Gas 4S enduro bike fiasco where Gas Gas cut it awfully fine financially by trying to implement fuel injection eventually successfully.

Yeah, sorry StuHRC. Blonde moment (hell I used to be blonde). I confused you with StuEssenhigh.
Good work though Andy.
-
Hey Stuart, when did you move to Ireland or have I been asleep (again)?

Coffee on the keyboard again. This time via my nose..

Doesn't look dry sump to me, open to correction though.

It's a pity you had to mirror the 315 Ian. I'd like to compare the bottom ends on the 2T and 4T's. I'm betting that HRC are using the 315 bottom end (modified of course) and a CRF top end and hoping to get around any potential carburation problems by using injection.
That rear mudguard really is ugly though, probably dangerous too!
Good job, it proves that the two are very similar.

BTW who are those guys who have commented in the article???? Usual suspects excluded.

Can't really think of an advantage other than it makes maintenance MUCH easier.

Yeah, about seven yeras ago. To be fair one was riding counter the direction of the course, he'd bent something on an early section and was going back to the car. The road was a very good unmetaled type about 20m wide. Both riders had "brain fade" and just drifted into each other. Neither was "tonking" it by any means.
When I was practicing enduro's a few years ago a bike hit a quad head on. The quad rider nearly had his leg severed (this happened about 100m from me) and eventually succumed to suseptescemia (sp?).
I have a near head on fortunaely without damage to either bikes or riders and they are really scary.
The fact that enduro bikes were on land as sensitive as the Scottish really gets my goat up. There must be a way to control it. Hell get the ramblers involved let them loose on the *******s.
-
No. I was (just) outside the marker which was literally right next to me. If he'd hit me he'd have gone past the wrong side of it. Apart from that, he cleaned the section
Just seeing you that close to a section should be enough to put anybody off .
Interesting rock that. I'd always expected the Scottish to be run on granite but clearly that isn't the case.
Just a thought Andy, did you ask Grimbo why he hasn't posted recently? I should imagine that in a few months time he'll be having plenty of late nights to catch up on his correspondence what with twins on the way.

God Jamie, after a 450 what's an "open" in MX (I know, up to 650)? I'm not arguing against you or John, who have both proven themselves to act in the riders interests, but the FIM. I really don't understand how there seems to be such a perceived difference in abilities of young trials riders and MX riders. If the requirement was for the use of trials bikes on public roads I understand. If not it smacks of hypocrisy.
Can you imagine two adjacent rooms in Geneva, in one, the trials & enduro subcommittee arguing that contemporary trials bikes are too powerful for 15 yr olds when they push out all of 20 HP and in the adjecent room where the MX subcommittee are meeting they're arguing that 15 yr olds are perfectly capable of handling 80 HP. See my argument about hypocrisy?
Soddit put a 16 yr old on 250 road racing bike (permissable) which chucks out 120 or so hp!!!!
-
Sounds like the Dakar this year. Is Neville (owner of the farm in Durbanville on which you rode John) riding? Three entries in the Dakar and three times timebarred. Sounds like he might be influencing things.
I feel sorry for Ken. You'd think that info would be easier to get hold of.
Hows the "househunting" going? I was pleasantly surprised at the rates.
-
Oh Vinnie came over too did he? How's DuckWizards Cagiva coming along?
-
Kind of strange that in MX 15 yr olds are allowed to ride 450s but in trials 17 yr olds and younger are limited to 125s
-
Quiet around here. Think that the Scottish was on or something.
-
Andy, Can't you use a GPRS link in Fort William or would that be asking too much of the Highlands <ducking>?
-
Certainly not great Ringster. You do, however, have an ability to get a lot of other people *ahem* rather upset .
-
You've obviously never met Ringo!
-
You go easy on that wrist young Gary, remember to rest it in the pub in the evening .
Andy, any chance of pics of interesting bikes at the weigh-in bearing the really bad comms in mind?
-
Good luck to all those fortunate enough to be riding and to those less fortunate who'll be either spectating or observing. Hey Scottie, you can always cry in your beer!
-
Could try making the entrance a 6 foot step.
