  1. YD, did you find any good videos?
  2. Kinell could set a new Scott record, the only man ever to ride past the CB ten times during the event Not Brians fault that he isn't gifted with a great sense of direction. SSDT proves this..
  3. Thinking....(dangerous in my case). Ish, IMO, you're on the nail regarding severity, but how do you get people hooked? Andy I think this topic warrants moving to Trials General. I "feel" (had to get the touchy/feely stuff in there) it's important.
  4. Is that an observer? A real observer? A UN Red book type, endangered observer? Damn! Forgot me gun.
  5. Agreed, '78. What car was Mart driving then? What was he doing to make money (trials doesn't count)?
  6. Andy, I think I gottit. I reckon that your ISP's DNS doesn't recognise "www.absamail.co.za" get them to map to www.absa.co.za (196.36.73.245). That should do it. Brian, I'll scan a copy of Sid at Saddleback as published in "Motorcyclist" tomorrow.
  7. Send the bugger my regards. Tell him I've got a crate of cold castle waiting for him. Yeah Andy. it's odd you can't see my mail server but I can see yours. But my mails bounce (hang on), testing.. "The original message was received Wed, 13 Oct 2004 21:01:28 -119304447 from - ----- The following address(es) had permanent fatal errors ----- <%^%@trialscentral.com>; originally to rfc822;%^%@trialscentral.com (unrecoverable error) The mail system encountered a delivery failure, code -1. This failure could be due to circumstances out of its control, please check the transcript for details ----- Transcript of session follows ----- 5.1.8 <%^%@absamail.co.za>... Domain of sender address %^%@absamail.co.za does not exist" Can't figure it myself... No panic. I was just trying to get Bigfoots name in the results at one of our trials.
  8. That would put a little pressure on Montesa! Please let us know if he does ride the 4S.
  9. Definitely Sid. Saddleback, '75. He won amidst many protests. Second was Rob Edwards. Thrrrrrrrppppp (raspberry)!
  10. YD, there are quite a lot out there all it takes is some "googling". You can start with Steve Saunders' site which has a few, all of which are sh*** quality and is a start. Texas Trials has some too.
  11. That bit I got. It's this: that got me.
  12. Note to Andy: add nodding smiley....
  13. ISSSSSSHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!! Teach t'lad, please. Andy, I have just spent the last hour carefully composing a very miffed post to some parties, and you just wrecked everything "I'm irritated by people who post on the worlds premier English language Trials site in a language other than English. Guys if you must post please check your language before you click on the post button. It's really simple, just take a minute to check whether you'd submit your post to either your English teacher, tutor or the editor of your local paper. Colloquisms are a different story. Ishy's posts to Perce are highly entertaining (if understandable) and probably wouldn't be out of place if inserted into the screenplay of "Calender Girls". But plain English would be appreciated by the rest of us resident in the colonies. One day, some of those who are guilty will find yourselves in a job where you have to express their thoughts to others through the written media and it is on this criterea you will be judged. After all: what use is an idea that can't be shared? Yup I'm an old fart, but one who appreciates the language and its power of persuasion and I know I'm not the only one." Nevermind, Bigfoots OK, didn't trash my bike and will see him soon for supper!
  14. Ignoring the gibberish bit in the middle - so do I. It bears a slight resemblance to another well-known Trials site And we have a spint, is it Wonderboy in front? No it's Yamaha_Dude! But wait...
  15. I'm sure everybody would like to hear John Collins input on this one.
  16. Heath, the black 'un was a Bolger and had nowt to do with the factory. If you look at the linkage carefully you'll see that the system was used by Kawasaki in the uni-track system. A long law suit followed with Joe Bolger eventually getting the nod.
  17. Thanks for the Thanks Brian. I was just aware of TTC thru' that great ambassador for Tennesee Mr MacNair (when's he going to get onto this buletin board?). John Le Riche asked whether I knew anybody in the States and I just put two and two together. Now all I have to do is get the little buggers down here to give us some lessons Regarding availibility of bikes, IMO that's not a factor. If there was sufficient demand the factories would satisfy it. During the boom times of the late 70's if a trials bike was on the floor in a shop somebody (a non trials rider) would buy it sharpish. But the bike would never appear at a trial.
  18. Al, I think it's because anybody who can ride a motorcycle can get round a hare scrambles circuit. They may not be the fastest but they will make at least a lap. Trials is a very different story even a rider very competent in other disiplines can struggle to get through an easy novice section. Bearing in mind that most (all?) of us participate for egostistical purposes very few people are prepared to look like absolute plonkers/squids/toads/spoads (insert your terminology of choice) for the apprenticeship period. I bumped into an old enduro riding friend the other day who hasn't ridden for about 5 yrs and suggested he give trials a bash, to which he replied "but thats really difficult". He succumbed and is coming out to my dads memorial trial on Sunday, as is Bigfoot.
  19. "Classic Bike" did an article on them a while ago. Try mailing them and see if they can help.
  20. Maybe it's the first you deserved!
  21. Dan, here's a report on TTC (if you haven't seen it already) from rec.motorcycles.dirt. Report
  22. Nah, it was an early version that Ulf Karlsson used at the end of '79 and the beginning of '80. I bought it in May of '80 and Karlsson won the championship at the end of '80. If he'd been riding that POS he'd never have finished a round . Besides no single bike wins a world championship, how many bikes do the top boys go through in a year?
  23. Ya live and learn! Thanks Bob and apologies to Yamaha Dude.
