  1. Twitchy? Would wobble like something off a Rolf Harris show.
  2. Bigfoot, I haven't the foggiest what the CDI characteristics are when they go belly up but a coil breaking down manifests itself as a misfire at higher rpms. Silly suggestion, your air filters not blocked is it (not likely in your part of the world)? Rag in the airbox (don't laugh it's happened to me and most of my mates)? Sounds like something like that. Not much help I'm afraid.
  3. The first Montesa 349 would top out at about 90mph. Bloody frightening it was too, doing 80mph on a bike with a hinge in the middle.
  4. Andy, Shouldn't this thread be renamed "lock up your daughters"?
  5. Ta Ish. Couldn't be bothered looking for the thread.
  6. Ishy and Wayne Thais have some ideas but I suspect they may be a little large for your backyard.
  7. Trials (& enduros) will never be a commercial venture. It may support a few staff but that's it. Marc Tessier, Josep Piebernat & Nacsis Cassas ain't going to rich on our sport but they'll have a hell of a lot of fun. I watched a very wealthy Cape Town trials rider take the local agency for KTM (his sons ride enduros and trials and I can still beat the little f%$ers in both enduros and trials) and get seriously bitten. Listing Scorpa was (IMO) seriously dumb. Did Birks take the agency? Nigel are you lurking? If you are you know who I am.
  8. I wonder how much Scorpas now apparently onerous contractual conditions are as a result of them listing on the stockmarket. After all investors only want their pound of flesh and don't give a hoot how they get it.
  9. I had a pair on my first trials bike.
  10. Shercool, I owe you an apology. TFT
  11. That's sweet Brian. I know of one in a warehouse here.
  12. Yeah, there's a few guys here that can do it. I can't do a headstand on the ground but I can "walk" around the bike on balance.
  13. Charlie, you're showing your age now. So am I.
  14. Well, where's the report? With pics of desirable motorcycles.
  15. Good stuff Andy. Bent, you survived? P.S. Andy some people were interested..
  16. I would imagine that running in oil is very difficult Surely you mean running-in oil? I reckon just use mineral oil and switch to synthetic after a tank or two.
  17. I would have thought that Sherco would have entered Cabastany in the Scottish. Would help with sales.
  18. Alternatively Sammy Miller has a rather neat clutch extender.
  19. Ziro, I think you just got yourself a cottage industry..
  20. Bent, how's the plans for your Scottish trip coming along?
  21. Ian, why don't you go to FPGA's? That'll screw'em.
  22. Clearly Ishy beat me to JD's column this week. It amazes me that since Korea ('52 ish) the US have been ranting on about the China as the other anti-christ. Nixon sort of broke the ice in about '72. But congress was still ranting. Now China is (slowly) joining the West all congress can do is bitch about slapping trade restrictions on them. Remember where the US came from? I have strong feelings about China and India....

    Gearbox Level

First sensible thing you've said. If unjustified. Firstly potable water shouldn't do any damage to bearings if flushed fairly soon after washing, secondly, best way to flush (small quantities) of water is to start the bike. Do not try this with saline water. It nearly put me hospital. For more info regarding Sherco waterproofing see previous posts by Ishy. BTW IMO, never use power washers. Remember oil is cheap, gearboxes are not. Change it as often as possible.

    Petrol

'Cause then you don't five a section because you ran out of petrol in the main "tank". But it's difficult getting back to the car for more.

    Jack Wood

Gary, Try John Shirt. He should point you in the right direction. Alternatively try Dan Thorpe. Just trying to help from the other side of the equator. Tim
