Duck tape don't fix nuffink! Duct tape on the other hand...

Mine did! Headstock looked like it had a nasty scab around it by the time I sold it. In it's defence though it was a pre-production, ex Ulf Karlsson bike.
Later models had a different mounting system for the bashplate. I assume that mine transferred all the stresses from the bashplate to the headstock.
Didn't help that I loved doing wheelie turns up 3m banks!
We got the painted plastic tanks that bubbled like good vintage champagne. The bike looked pretty grotty towards the end.

Dabster, must have been four years. The 348 was released in '76 and replaced by the 349 (vile beast, kept snapping in two) in '80.
Incidently, the Japs are very coy with production numbers and change model numbers every year. I can't even think what the numbers are for, say, a KDX 200 variant.
Also, Mont produce about 4000 units a year and the 315 has been in production since '96, so 9 x 4000 = 36000 units! I'd say a 315 is the most popular.

Odd how a few days ago a guy says he's looking for a CCM 350 and today a CCM 350 turns up on the classifieds and CCM 350's are as rare as rocking horse s&*t. Co-incidence? I blame the illuminati!

I have a funny feeling you're all wrong. I remember reading a few years ago that the most popular OFF-ROAD motorcycle ever produced (Yamaha PW50 excepted) was the Montesa Cota 348 with some 15,000 units. I never checked the figures but It's worth thinking about.

Sounds like Boofonts scene!
-
Also, trials requires little land and that land it does use is generally not very good for development, so trials is a natural sport for the Japanese.
I'm not at all suprised by the rise of Japan as a trials nation.
-
Sheesh, that's hairy stuff!
-
Gearbox breather. Don't worry about it.

Nah John, Scott made road bikes that were used in trials and tested in the Scott trial. I don't think Scott ever made a real trials bike. I'm open to correction though.
I was looking for the first bike that was a genuine production TRIALS bike as opposed to a modified road bike used in trials. My feeling, as mentioned in the previous post, is either a Norton 500T or RE. Both were "works reps" and both were miles away from real works bikes.
-
Got talking about this at a trial yesterday: what was the first production trials bike? I think it was the Norton 500T. Any other ideas?
-
Good point Ish. Never thought about it that way. I have noticed that that young tyke from Silsden isn't very flashy.
-
Any coil (automative inclusive) will do. Fancy a new barrel. There's one on ebay now.

Could try changing the cash card for a debit card, works like a credit card but you must have money in the account.. also works as a cash card.
-
I sat down recently and worked out that trials costs about as much as golf. Including parts.
-
Jolly good old bean. Apology accepted and all that. Yup that's the idea. I would have thought Andy would leap at the idea. Where TF is Grimbo? Too busy at "Baby World" I suppose.
Censored tits! Never! Not on this august bulletin board!

OY! Outlaw Dave and Dabber stop hijacking my topic!
-
I thought Boofont was English but transplanted. Need to brush up my brougue (sp?) for Bigfoot though. I'll be seeing him in a few weeks.
-
Andy, it's an idea but why don't you invite the stars into the chat room. Meet the stars sort of thing. It'll make the top guys more accesible to us in the colonies.
-
They should write an app for a laptop. I thought web-enabled fridges were a waste of time but a web-enabled trials bike is a whole new ball game!
-
Talking of which, would you like like your residence decorated John? I know this place that does great "herbal" bouquets!
Speak next week!
-
Hope it isn't a Polycarb helmet, 'cause chlorine wreaks havoc with polycarb.
-
Thanks Cubby. Only figured it out when we were one less at our Sun practice session! Did the Cape Town guys buy you a beer?
