  1. Hi John I don't think South Africa's McRaes favourite place presently after the Nissans dismal reliability in the Dakar. Pity, he frightened a few people.
  2. For a specialist book seller try http://www.brucemainsmith.com/ TFT
  3. Well it ain't in Dons book "Classic British Trials Bikes". I just looked. TFT
  4. Gradually. Latch onto a rider who's slightly better than you and practice with him or her until you beat them. Then find somebody new and do the same.
  5. He is. The shootout between the Fantic 240, Mont, SWM Jumbo, Italjet and Cagiva? Yup got it!
  6. Err Jeff, love to. Will you pay my air fare? Don't reckon much on my chances of getting into the States from South Africa presently. Maybe try posting in the "Across the pond" forum.
  7. Actually Al, I should say that this topic is way overdue, ditto for Diary of an event these subjects (IMO) should be archived by Andy. I will follow with great interest.
  8. Good thread Ishy. Now if I can find some buggers to practice with who DON"T like tight sections..
  9. Could I add Bently Wolfes (Wisconsin) name to the list? I'll try and dig him up.
  10. Just to let you know That Dan Brown of TTC has stepped forward and will be supporting Bruce and Brent LeRiche next year during their attempt at the US championships. Thanks very much Dan and I'm sure Brent, Bruce and John (dad) will enjoy Southern hospitality. Also Thanks very much too M.Lawson for his offer in Puget Sound and all others who came forward with offers. Might we mentioning the name LeRiche in the same the same hushed tones as Albertyn and Langston ?

  12. ..some advertising on this site. Good luck Andy and may you become wealthy from your endevours (not likely in this sport).
  13. Should Shaun Morris elect to ride in the W/C next year (I think he's obliged to) any predictions where he might end the season considering Tadeusz Unpronouncable rode the last round and finished 13th-ish?
  14. I'm sure Marky will have something to say about this.
  15. Hi American cousins The top 2 South African riders (brothers) want to follow in Brian Cappers footsteps and try their luck in the US. Any ideas where they can start? Please reply to satrialssport@mweb.co.za <satrialssport@mweb.co.za> Thanks
  16. Has anybody thought that this could be as a result of slow rebound damping and not neccessarily weight distribution? My 2001 TXT has no damping adjustment (does the pro have damping adjustment?) and it makes moving the back end around a real pain.
  17. See our latest indoctree is NGK. They're obviously going to add a little "spark" to the forums.

    04 Gasgas

    Get thou nipples plated Bigfoot
  19. Gas Gas is the Spanish expression for WFO ("wide f$%^ open") or "on the gas". So Gas Gas means fast. One of the Gas Gas directors was interviewed recently and admitted he rued the fact that they had called the company Gas Gas.

Gotta love the boots. Looks like an extra from a b-grade sc-fi movie.
  21. I agree that we all owe Marc ("May I call you Marc?") a huge debt and that the upper echelons of the sport should not be isolated from us lesser mortals. But how? Fire the FIM who have for the past 20 years or so been handing championships over to the self-professed promotions experts? As mentioned in my previous post we're not the only people p****d-off with them. On reflection the W/C counts for only some "street cred" (God I hate that expression but it's appropriate presently). The Scottish and and the Scott count for a great deal too. But I speak English. Could it be that Marc is counting on these events to promote his brand? Possibly we'll just have to wait for Octagons contract to expire, by which time they'll probably have lost interest anyway and then get back to reality. It'll hurt the top guys but the sport will improve enormously.
  22. Yeah Ishy, I owe you an apology in that regard. I only noticed your posting after the fact but I was suprised at what Tessier said and trials and he would be poorer should he execute his threat. I suppose I took the "Sun" approach . Should you be right Ishy (and you have been there), trials isn't the only motorcycle sport effected by the crap that the self proclaimed promotors are causing. Motocross is in deep doo-doo. In the last 12 years or so they've had 3 or 4 MAJOR changes in format and the factories are very p****d. Bigfoot, we had a conversation regarding the promotion of the sport and on reflection you're right. I didn't disagree at the time but I have been slowly seeing the light.
  23. I dunno what Tessier's up to. The old adage of "what wins on Sunday sells on Monday" seems to have escaped him. I certainly wouldn't consider a bike that wasn't present in the W/C regardless of how good it is. Anybody got any other ideas of what expectations Tessier's referring to?
