  1. Yoram, I see in the entry list your nationality is down as Israeli so are you riding on an Israeli or Mexican license? If Israeli you may be the first. Big John or other SSDT historians?
  2. Seems Jordi Robinat is a real estate whizz: "Jordi Robinat is the founder & CEO of Fides Capital, a new asset management and investing firm that focuses in the real estate distressed Spanish market. Jordi also controls MedGroup, a leading first class real estate and leisure company in Spain. Before Jordi developed different real estate ventures with funds such as Apollo. Previously he was CEO of E. Mas
  3. My dad came up with that idea (or so he said).
  4. Ta muchly. Curious. Pre-74 head and barrel (motor) in what appears to be a chrome-plated 199A frame with a 199 tank and a Bing carbie
  5. The difference narrows in extreme enduros but some of the rounds (Romaniacs and the "roof" to name two) also involve long transport or regularity stages where an enduro bike will pull miles on a trials bike. Put it this way, if there was a race between a trials bike and an enduro bike in the Scottish but each day involved only 4 or 5 sections instead of 30 to 40 who do think would make it round in the shortest time?
  6. Hmm, there's a bit more to this than meets the eye. I have the unfortunate experience of being involved in grant applications more than once. Jotagas/Jordi Robinat appear to have been given an academic/R&D grant by the Aragon govt provided said grant percolates it's way back to academia. In other words don't expect this to go commercial. That would be a nice to have but not essential. Only about 1 in ten R&D grants actually goes commercial. *edit* JT is a consultant to the "company" (he wants a slice of the dosh).
  7. One only. Not the bikes fault. Nor magical Micks. Still down as the oldest rider to win a world round at 36.
  8. Great find. Thanks for sharing
  9. Only in the tight spots. What happens if you have a transport stage of 75Kms? The guys on enduro bkes will have packed up and gone home before the trials bike even reaches the tight stuff.

    Hells Gate

I believe Taddy is concentrating on the arena enduros
  11. Thanks for that. Just read up about Nick Drake. What a sad story.

    Hells Gate

Of course Hells Gate is part of the new extreme enduro world championship this year along with Erzberg, Romaniacs and the "roof". Will Grimbo get that world championship he so deserves? Will Dougie get his 13th?

    I'm lucky!

Welcome back Brian. Did Trevor throw you out then? <Where's Kinell?>
  14. Best way to check is to put the stanchions in two v blocks and rotate with a dial guage in place. It doesn't sound like they're badly bent, if at all. If they are you place the stanchion in two v blocks locate the highest point upwards and use a hydraulic press to gently push dowm. You'll need to do it several times but gently, gently little bit at a time is the game. I'd suggest getting Tony27 to give you a hand (but he's a bit far away) but any decent engineering shop will do.
  15. Honda took the phenomenon, controlled it and built a bike around the principle (told you I admired Hondas engineering). From: Honda EXP-2 "Honda has tamed pre-ignition; on the EXP-2 this auto-ignition is computer controlled to enhance performance and most importantly virtually eliminate pollution. Usually thought of as a bastion of four-stroke technology, Honda's new two-stroke design promises less pollution, better fuel economy and most important, no loss in power. Pre-ignition will destroy a normal two stroke. It is caused when the temperature and pressure in a cylinder builds to a critical point and the air/fuel mixture ignites prematurely in a violent explosion rather than in a controlled burn. The premature explosions are ignited either by red-hot engine parts or highly ionized reactive molecules left from the last exhaust cycle. Using premature combustion to more thoroughly burn the mixture is not a new idea -- diesels don't have spark plugs either. But it's the first time that auto-ignition has been successfully applied to a gasoline two-stroke. Above idle, and below 40 percent throttle, the spark plug is not used. The exhaust power valve automatically regulates combustion pressure, guaranteeing that pre-ignition will start and end at the correct time. Once the critical pressure is reached, the reactive molecules act like millions of tiny spark plugs, firing the mixture much more evenly than any single plug could."
  16. Many here swear by JS, Kev Hipwell and team.
