  1. ...Ron, that was just REALLY wet clay - what we lack in mud we make up for in lightning and hail... OBTW, congrats snagging Dougie - very nice acquisition. How much arm twisting did you have to do to get that done?
  2. Boner - just like Marky Boy says... just run the 747 straight up. Mix it like you would your regular oil 80:1 or whatever. 747 smells enough like the the old bean oil to fool everyone (but it doesn't gum everything up like Castrol R did). As much as I like the smell of Castrol 747, I don't like waiting in line behind some guy running the stuff though.
  3. Copie, copie, copie... what are we gonna do with you?... you gotta stop quaffing the beers if you're gonna spank the forum.A. I don't have a backyard - so no GasGas dealer could be in it. B. I ride in Texas - we don't have any mud C. I went to one school and I still ride like crap I DO know that JMcK is looking for someone to tell him to get a Sherco... Hey! JMcK! Go get a Sherco! There... all better now. On edit... oops, looks like he already has one. Well, get another one.
  4. Well, if money were no object... I'd have a Beta front end so it would turn inside of any other trials bike A Scorpa rear end - I like the un-articulated rear shock, but a modern adaptation. The light weight and dealer network of a GasGas the Sherco 2.9 engine the fuel injection of the Montesa. Oh, and while we're at it, make me ride like Pat Smage...
  5. That looks very much like Copemech's girlfriend... but please, don't tell his wife...
  6. wow, I was thinking just the opposite... compared to the svelte-looking Beta 4T, the top end on this thing looks enormous. I'm guessing that the engineering plan was that the side-valve design would reduce the top-end valve train and thereby lower the center of gravity AND provide a slightly less complex motor at the same time. Unfortunately, from this video, it looks and sounds like something Fred Flintstone would ride. The Beta and the Montesa motors look exactly like what they are - the product of many months of 3D solid modeling and 3D proto-typing which probably yielded a near-net production-prototype from which the designers derived production engines very quickly. I'm sure the GasGas engine came about the same way but it just looks like they chiseled the prototype out of a piece of rock. The GG 4T cylinder head looks almost exactly like what I would imagine a water-cooled 1955 Harley Panhead would look like. So, while the look is very, ahem, 'retro', hopefully (for the marque), the performance will be classic GasGas.
  7. Does anyone carry this brand here in the U.S.? And is the Sidi Trial Zero boot and the Sidi Discovery boot the same? The Alpine Stars are gettin' powerful gamey and need to be put out to pasture.
  8. You've GOT to be kidding!! It took the French 26 YEARS to build THAT?
  9. ...she's looking for her underwear. What she doesn't realize is that after her alleged 'tryst' with Copemech there in the bushes, he put them on his head and ran off laughing manically while puffing on a Gauloises... that should be a lesson for all women, don't wear underwear around Copemech if you know what's good for you. on edit: Copemech NEVER actually 'runs'... I made that part up...
  10. ...doesn't need 'weeding', it needs plowing...
  11. Now that's funny right there, I don't care who you are... Nice one, beaver.
  12. Taddy wins, Geoff is the only other finisher... http://www.redbulllastmanstanding.com/pdf/..._post-event.pdf

    Gg Foursmoke

...the four strokes only break every other time...
  14. 5 of 6 will count for the support classes, 6 of 6 for the pros.
  15. Sounds like an event to add to my 08 calender I noticed all riders ride 8 to 12 30 no am-pm format will it be group scoring??? The Sooner Cup is a big event and has been run for many, many years. This year we're just adding the icing of a pro-purse exhibition event in the afternoon. So, it is a traditional event in that we will have separate morning and afternoon sections and we'll accomodate ALL club-level competitors - the only difference is that ALL of the traditional morning and afternoon classes will ride in the morning so everyone can watch the pro competition in the afternoon. All of the AM / PM sections will be manned with traditional checkers / observers - no group scoring. Based on the positive feedback from our national event in April of '06, this event should be a good time for everyone! We'll have RV electrical hookups for about 15 campers and there is a nice little hotel in Tishomingo if you like. txtc.info has the number for the hotel. PM me if you would like additional details. Hope to see all of you there.
  16. Yes, spring season opener at the Rock Creek Riding area in Tishomingo, OK - home of the "Best National" in '06 - March 15 / 16 - see http://www.txtc.info for details. The Colorado event is Cannon City? or Canon City? - Stock Ranch.
  17. What year is the 290? Sherco USA tech support told me 385cc in the left fork leg, and 370 in the right for the '06 2.9 with the adjustable front forks. I'm running the PJ1 5wt in mine and it feels pretty plush, but then again, I ride in the career beginner class, so I don't hop the front.
  18. Three questions: How often do you clean your chain? How do you clean your chain? gasoline, citrus solution?... What chain lube have you settled on over the years? (on edit) How often do you re-lube your chain? Every trial? I can't seem to find a chain lube that agrees with me... they're either too thick and gooey, too thin, get washed off onto my stator cover after a creek crossing, etc. What's the secret?
  19. I've had some of Mark's CF protectors on my '06 2.9 for over 8 months now with no problems except other guys asking, 'wheredja gittem?' They're really quite thick, and the super-trick, ultra high-tech adhesive Mark supplies insures they stay where you put them. A much cleaner look than the scuffed swingarm. To me, nothing makes a bike look 'old' faster than a scratched and scuffed swingarm (except a leaking, dented aluminum gas tank - ooohhhh...) The best part is Mark says they're guaranteed to shave at least two points per loop.

    '07 Bike Setup

Did you just get trigger happy with the camera - I don't see a fuel filter in there...? Hey, wasn't Spock in love with a Tygon? Seriously, congrats on the '07 Sherco, Mark... let me know what class you're riding in the state series so I don't have to suffer a butt-whuppin' every weekend.
  21. Politics makes strange bedfellows... eh, Diego?
  22. osh - this is a TXTC club event, so its not a huge deal - I don't think I'd drive from Illinois to ride it! This will be my second event of this type, so we're still sorting out what makes it the most fun; we're definitely on the right track, though! The loop is fairly small as the property is only about 35 acres - the loop is similar to what we ran at the national this year which makes it about 2.2 miles or so. We will ride three loops. The starter will send each rider out on their minute and all you have to do is haul booty - you don't have to stop at the sections, just ride through and keep going. The observer will mark your dabs on their clipboard tally sheet. You come blasting by the scoring table at the end and your loop end time is registered from the master clock. Times are entered into an Excel spreadsheet which calculates your loop time. At the end of the event we post your time and dabs for each loop and a total for the event - low score wins. Morning and afternoon riders will ALL go at the same time, that is, I won't have a morning event and an afternoon event for the separate classes. Each of the 6 sections will have an 'A' line for the afternoon riders and a 'B' line for the morning classes - so EVERYONE will be out at the same time; leaving on one minute intervals, of course. There is no time limit to ride each loop, but there will be a 10 or 15 minute break max time limit between loops. I don't want guys riding one loop and going to camp for a nap between their loops. This wasn't much of a problem at the summer event. If you don't show up after 15 minutes you'll get a DNS thereby disqualifying you. Hit the link on my previous post for a copy of the ScotTISH Trials Race event flyer. The event is 1 day only and is $20 ($15+5 land use) for TXTC members and $25 ($20+5 land use) for non-members. Primitive camping is free and 15 camp sites with 15 AMP RV power are something like $15 / day. The following day, Sunday, is the Tish Turkey Trial which is a classic trial event.
  23. We'll ride three loops, you can retire to your truck in between loops for bike gas or people gas. I'm encouraging everyone to pre-ride the loop as many times as you like AND walk the sections. You will ride up to the section and just ride in without being acknowledged by the observer. Multiple riders will be allowed in the section, but no passing will be allowed in the sections, only on the loop. The observers will mark your dab count on their clipboard so you don't have to stop to be punched. We will collect the score sheets and add your dabs to your time - so a dab counts as a minute. If you break the tape in a section, you will receive a 5 AND you must suffer the time penalty of stopping to repair the tape. The trophies will have little bottles (airplane serving size) of scotch glued to them (the cap will be super-glued). We did this format earlier this year in TX and it was a hoot - everybody loved it.
