  1. Hi Guy's, Hi BOC, This is a different bike and from another part of the country, Gloster, not Horncastle. I think this bike that is on eBay at the moment looks like a better bike than the other, (a bit tidier and newer) and probably worth the upgraded price. My prodiction is that it will make a fair bit more. I bet I am wrong now, I usaly put the Kibosh on everything. Regard's Charlie.
  2. Hi Guy's Service from Trials Bits ,is second to none, order the stuff one day it is delivered the next. Buy a load of stuff and a man is knocking on your door at 8 o'clock the next morning. Got me out of trouble loads of times , Thanks Amanda. PS Only a customer. Regard's Charlie.
  3. Hi Guy's Hi Woody, Well I emailed Howard yesterday, and asked him to send me a couple of photos, so that i can put them on here, if he was not going to update the Faber web site, But no reply from him yet. I should grovel a bit and get your mate to make you a couple of pins, as you have the Red Marley deadline. Perhaps I should make a few up when i have a bit of time. There is a small picture of the frame in the latest Classic Dirt Bike, but that has Oil in the frame , you can see the filler neck, Perhaps you can cover this over with the tank, and keep your Sandwiches in the oil tank that you fit? Only an idea. Regards Charlie.
  4. Hi Guy's. Hi Woody, That must be a back door way of getting them, "Otter"frame that is, exepted as elligible for the Scottish trial. Giving one to Jock McIn**** (let Colin Dommett spell his name ,as he sometimes get's it right so iv'e heard) must make it OK for the next couple of years, I wonder if the Spanish riders know that. Regard's Charlie.
  5. Hi Guy's . Hi Spudsdad, Yea Thanks for that, you would think the old blighter would get his act together at his age. So what we are saying is that to find Terry Weedy, DO NOT look at his half finished web site at www.averyproducts.co.uk, but look at www.terryweedy.weebly.com. Now I am revved up I will email Howard at Faber frames and try to get him to update his website. but don't hope. Ps Woody stick with the cotters mate if you have a lathe make some out of decent steel, it is easy, Just a tail note to the Faber New Otter frames, I think they pinched the idea for the frame tubes under the engine from OTF,yes OTF, I have the proof. Regard's Charlie.
  6. Hi Guy's, Just looked on Terry Weedy's web site ,but it does not seem to be working , and looks as if it is under construction, I have found other websites like this, they never do get finished, and leave me tearing my hair out, (thats why a I am nearly bold), If I remember when I bought my cotter type, he did have some splined ones there, about
  7. Hi Guy's. Hi FPR. Have you got a PAL mag then? trying to get your hands on one is near imposible. The disadvantage if you think it is , is that they have fixed timing, although I think some have been coverted at a price. So where would you run the PVL from then, I would be intrested. Regard's Charlie.
  8. Hi Guy's, Yes This is the bike that Dave rode into 2 place in the SSDT of 1967. and the bike Registration number JON473E, was known at the factory as RED T1,It would be better dropping the "E" from the reg for a Pre 65 Trial. Red T1 was the first prototype , bike that had several frames in it's short career, reverting to the near standard one for the Scottish, as this was company practice, the engine also went through several changes ,starting as a D10 with only three gears then using the prototype four speed that was being developed. the factory log about development is intresting reading. Regard's Charlie.
  9. Hi Guy's. I use a saddle oil, any saddlery dressing should be Ok, as it does not rot Harness , or saddles, and they have a much harsher life. Regard's Charlie.
  10. Hi Guy's. I believe this is the bike that is back in the Mc Bride family and was used in the recent Scottish Pre 65. I have asked Pat Slinn to let me know if he knows any history about the bike while it was still at BSA. He or I will let you know. Will try and find out when the shot was taken, I recon 1966 or 7. Regard's Charlie.
  11. Hi Guy's. Hi Subira, Yes, Sorry I forgot to update you, We went for the AW1 frame, I know it is a bit more expensive but the workman ship on the frame is second to none, the angles have been honed by many months trial and ajustments by the number one James rider, the swinging arm is proper oval T45 ,as is all the steel on the frame even the dropouts for the back wheel spindle, footrest brackets ,etc. and the hubs forks etc are designed for this frame. The whole package is just a top example of "British Workmanship" at it's best, and on par with the quality shown in F1, I know I have worked on some of the parts for a F1 team. Anyway that is the choice we have made because in our opinion it is just that bit better. Regard's Charlie.
  12. Hi Guy's, An unassuming, True Star, (The only words needed) Regard's Charlie.
  13. Hi Guy's. I recon this is the best action classic photo that I have seen for a long time.
  14. Hi Guy's Why not just fit a compleate belt drive system from a Triumph Tina scooter. or carve the knobbles of the tyre,(tire). Regard's Charlie.
  15. Hi Guy's' Hi Pat. Sadly Roman is now riding the old Velo up in the sky. When we have one of them full blown thunder storms, ia'm sure you can hear the bark from the old girl in with the thunder. Regard's Charlie.
  16. Hi Guy's, Hi Pat, Yes I remember the Hartle bike , it had a right crack to the exhaust note. I used to ride in the same trials has Roman Zeil with his Velo Outfit and that had an even better bark, and he only rode the bike with the tap fully open, and it used to loop it like no other outfit that I knew. Paul Jackson has been riding a Ariel with a Velo engine up in Yorkshire, (one of his frames I expect) he told me he had just built ten of um,(frames that is) last year. There's a picture on the Yorkshire Classics site ,of the bike and him, and I seem to remember there's a few more in the gallery. Regard's Charlie.
  17. Hi Guy's. Hi Scotty. I think you are right, it is not a bike that you would want to dismantle and rebuild with a load of trick bits, or even spend the other
  18. Hi Guy's Hi Ham2. A Sidecar, or Chair, is the right answer. This then makes it an Outfit, Regard's Charlie.
  19. Hi Guy's Hi Vinnie, I would fit the 52 tooth, you dont want to be overreving that motor do you. Regard's Charlie.
  20. Hi Guy's, Hi Dixie. Not worked on Triumph Twins since 1964-5 when I did me aprentiship on them, working for Bert Shorey, Dans father. But we built a 350 tiger 90 based trials bike from a crashed bike for Dan to ride. If I remember we fitted low compreshion pistons, that were bigger than standard,I would think it would have made it about a 400cc bike. this had bags of power with the tiger 90 cams still fitted, and the bit bigger carb than the twenty one, but I do remember that if you banged open the twist grip, you could spin the wheel at a stand still on most surfaces other than rocks, and it seemed a lot better on these. that is why the Yorkshire boys do so well on them I expect. I think the bike we built was bought by George Greenland, who would have got the best out of it, I think you could still build one at a reasonable price, but it would be from parts found, and not a bike. Hope this helps. Regard's Charlie.
  21. Hi Guy,s Silica sand . Now I have an advantage over most of you, as I have a lage supply of the stuff (28 Tons),from the beach that we shoveled and swept up from the middle of the banking area in the city of London where the Bankers were playing Beach volly ball on it , instead of investing peoples money safely in buying old bikes, Another use for it I have found, is for practicing for the Dacca rally, What I do is sit in the workshop astride The Ken Sedgeley "Rival" and throw handfulls of the stuff into the old workshop fan not only do you get a fine impression of riding through a sand storm in the middle of the desert, but it also removes any dry skin from your face. If I am feeling realy nostalgic I put on the David Lean soundtrack and imagine I am Orance riding a camel across the desert, I usealy sit on the old rigid Ariel for this though. Ps, a drop of Solvo Autosol popped in to the tank with the petrol, dont half shine the piston up. Regard's Charlie.
  22. HI Guy's, One of the plus sides to using the Silica sand is that it coats the inside of the exaust system with glass and the gases escape cleaner and the real bonus is that it disapates the heat from the exhuast, so no more burnt legs etc, My opinion anyway. Bug*** it might work!!!!! Regard's Charlie
  23. Hi Guy's, I tried that a while back, but you need an old Ariel that's running a bit retarded and if you get her nice and hot and fire in the handfulls of silica sand straight into the bellmouth you get a loveley glass vase forming out of the end of the tail pipe, and if you inturupt the flow ,by posititoning your hand momentaraly over the carb she will back fire, and shoot the glass into the air and it comes back to the ground has marbles. PS, you must have an Ariel HT with the factory original exhaust for this though, I have tried sand blasting my best Levi's with this method as well, it does tend to scorch them though. Are well!!! Regard's Charlie.
  24. Hi Guy's . Hi Westy, I Know that Pat realy needs this copy of Mcn, it is very important to him, to find ,oh I better not say anymore. But if you could have a look for him mate, that would be brilliant. and I know Pat would be over the moon as they say, and could carry on with the project he is doing. Best Regard.s Charlie.
