  1. Hi Guy's. Hi Stu. I have Paul Jacksons phone number somewhere, I will look it out tonight and put it on for you. Regard's Charlie.
  2. Hi Guy's. Done one last year, Didn't alter the steering head angle, although it is a bit relaxed, Removed every conceivable bracket and lug, unbelievable weight when all put in a bucket. shortened the rear subframe ,and the most important mod, pulled the seat tubes in, what you will have to watch doing this is that you leave enough room for a straight run with the carb and filter. Yes the frame is heavy but then so is the rest if you use the original wheels hubs forks etc. But you will have a bike that will last a lifetime without a lot of maintenance. PS Thinking of putting a chair on ours, should help me knees, cos i wont have to stand on the pegs a lot. but i pity the passenger. Regard's Charlie.
  3. Hi Guy's. Hi Greg, You can discard the inner linkage for the gears and modify the selector indicator shaft and cover to take a gear-lever. as Peter Gaunt did with his, I have done this to ours ,but have not tried it yet until it is back together,(within the month). So will let you know if it works. If you are thinking about altering gearing, you should keep an eye open for second hand Villiers 4 speed 8E gearboxes, because the gears from these can be used in the Enfield box. Also you can use the main-shaft which is splined for the clutch and with a mod gets over the weak Enfield problem, Hitchcocks fixed us up with a similar shaft for ours. I am still trying to modify a Yamaha clutch to fit. We also bought a alloy barrel casting from Hitchcocks that was rejected 20 years ago when Alan had some cast, it was bored slightly of center so we bored it out bigger and then machined a spun liner to fit it. Frame wise, I have repositioned the footrest to a better position altered the steering head, and fitted taper roller bearings, a better and lighter swinging arm pivot that now runs on Igus type plastic bearings. narrowed the sub frame slightly, and removed all unwanted brackets. It is now using Rickman hubs, the back with a cushdrive, forks are ceriani. and we are going to set it up with a Villiers S22 carb. ignition PVL. As I say i will post pictures when I have it back together. Regard's Charlie.
  4. Hi Guy's. Hi Jumbo. Sorry I had not got back before but other things going on +the Scottish pre 65. Well looking at the bike it is as the last guy said but the front end looks a lot like an old Ariel set up. You need to find a front end from a proper trials crusader, or forks from a 350 I think are much the same and with the damping. Type in www.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com and take a look at all the nesasary bits ,they may well have forks. As said you have a good starting point for an intresting project, when done and sorted it will be worth what I said in the first place .Or just ride the thing and enjoy. Ps. the first thing I would do after the forks is to sorce a PVL type ignition and fit, makes the rest worth doing then because it will start and run propaly. I will fire some pictures of ours on as soon as I have re asembled it now the frame as been Powder coated the same colour as the one sold for 10 K. Regard's Charlie. PPs Whats Peters new project then. He must have one.
  5. Hi Guy's Hi Lingo, The winning cub has a black tank with a logo on it "number "57" hense Heinz", Hi Woody Having looked on the yorkshire site I have found a picture of a CUB that looks a lot like the one that Paul rode, but not so tidy. and the rider is Max Heys, Father? Brother? One of the yorkshire boys must know the bike and its history? Just intrested. Regard's Charlie.
  6. Hi Guy's, Have any of you got any photos of Paul (Heinz) Heys's Winning Triumph Cub. You know what I am like by now, I just need to see what makes this bike tick. I am not saying that Paul is not a brilliant rider ,because he must be to have won. And the bike being 230cc makes that a bit trick? has anyone information about whats in the engine, etc. Perhaps Classic Dirt Bike might test it later for us ,with Pauls permision. More importantly Congratulations on a fine win Paul. Regard's Charlie. PS I know there are two Photos that Andy took.
  7. Hi Guy's. Hi Andy. Don't worry about the site being 100 percent at all times,as you say there is only you, and we sure would miss the site like you wont believe , if you pulled the plug. So Just enjoy where you are for the week, I would gladly get wet to be there. And thank's for posting the photos, and results they were well worth waiting for.(Results that is ). enjoy as they say. Regard's Charlie.
  8. Hi Guy's Hi Tom , Thanks for that, at least someone has shown an intrest in keeping us Old Blieters, informed. And the best wishes to Paul on his win. Another rider from the "best trials club in the country", not my words, but very true. just wished i lived up there, perhaps i should move. Regards Charlie. Ps would they want me though.
  9. Hi Guy's. Hi Bj? Yes we know the event is run by volenteers, and we also know how bad like minded people are, comunicating with each other. I think i mentioned this last year. We must perhaps set up a system for next year. It would only take a mobile phone or better still some one with a Blackberrie, (my spelings bad this morning)? linked to some one willing to post the information on here.(Me) if my legs are still to bad to ride or dont get considered for an entry. It is realy frustrating not knowing whats happening up there, when Pre65 is your only passion in life now. Or in OTF's case one of two. (Good luck with the wedding mate). So there is no need to get upset with our thoughts, we would be there if we could, and in OTF's case he as BIN There,Dun It, and got the teeshirt. Regard's Charlie.
  10. Hi Guy's , Hi Stu, Yes you need to post some pictures of the bike, so that we can tell whether it look puka or not. The production Crusader did have leading axel forks but these were damped, unlike the roadster version which had no damping. The works riders of the time (50s-60s) did use forks that were a lot like the ones fitted to the BSA's then, Peter Fletcher used Norton forks on his works Crusader, so you see it is not as straight forward as it looks to spot a true production bike. It is right that to make the bike compeitive it will need a lot of work but most bits are still available if you look, and some like the gearbox use the same gears as in Villiers 7-8e boxes. and Yamaha and Honda clutches have been fitted. Hope this helps . Regard's Charlie.
  11. Hi Guy's OK I have another prediction. I have been looking into my crystal ball and it tells me that the winning machine will be fitted with a part that has been machined or made by Alan Whitton Race Engineering Ltd. and has you say it may even be ridden by the man himself now that he as got a ride. PS, has anyone tried disguising an OKO carb yet, or fitting one inside a Amal Mk 1 Concentric. Keep um peeled. Regard's Charlie.
  12. Hi Guy's . Hi Woody. I spent a good half hour yesterday with a good reply to you as I thought ,now as you say it has gone, and i did not save it ,and am not going to waist my time writing it again, I wish I had read someware about a computer upgrade, then I would not have bothered. Regard's Charlie.
  13. Hi Guy's, Hi Big"J", You are right The DVLA just keep you gessing, The last time the bike was taxed for the road was up untill June 1997, Lets hope it as not been turned into a classic scrambler , or chopped into a trials bike. I am hopeing that the bike is in someones private collection or in a motorcycle museum? or in the back of a garden shed, someone must know? or have a PoliceMan-Woman as a friend? that is kean on the history of the British Motorcycle industry of the past. The bike and rider should be reunited don't you think? just for one last time, if only for a picture of the two together. Lets find it guy's. Regard's Charlie.
  14. Hi Guy's This is the works ISDT BSA that,Pat rode ,and was later given to him. He would love to have one more look at the bike ,if anyone knows where it lives now. Regard's Charlie
  15. Hi Guy's. Yes Alan's way is right, but if you have not got a vice to hand ,you can do the job with a couple of big washers a length of threaded rod ,with two nuts and spanners, and socket or a short peice of tube. Regard's Charlie.
  16. Hi Guy'. I would say that it is a nice piece of 5 or 6 mm dural plate and a crafty pruning of the alloy casting .Note that the clutch arm has be extended, and i would think that there was spacers or modified shafts in some way too. Nice job though and very inventive like the man was. he will be missed. Regard's Charlie.
  17. Hi Guy's . Hi Woody, Just looked at the picture of the Mk 3 frame in the latest Classic Dirt Bike mag and it is as I said with the bend, and the two frame rails under the engine swoop up at the back to the swinging arm box come footrest supports, the weight of the frame is said to be only 10 kg,which is lighter than the Mk2 even with the rails .The rest of the frame is very much in keeping with the Mk 2 frame and does carry the oil in the frame as before. But looking at it it would be an easy fix to fit one of Terry Weedy's oil tanks and air cleaner unit's to make it look more original , like the first batch of BSA C15t,s.We will have to wait and see. Regard's Charlie.
  18. Hi Guy's, Now this is OTF's take on the same theam and this was done a couple of year,s ago now,so this bike now could become eligable dont you think. Charlie
  19. Hi Guy's. Hi Woody, I think looking at the photo more closely that the object on the left is the oil tank and not the air cleaner box. If you look there are tubes in and out of it. but I reckon you must have to fill the tank through the frame, as the frame filler cap is most certainly there>or could the frame now be used to carry extra fuel, now theres a thought. I think if i can remember the frame at Wright'ys show had the top and seat tube as one with a bend where the gusett is on the Mk2 frames, so the one in the picture is a modified Mk2. It will be intresting to see if this is the bike that he rides in the two day won't it. Regard's Charlie.
  20. Hi Guy's. Woody, Dave, This is Jock on the said bike ,does it look like a BSA factory frame? regard's Charlie.
  21. Hi Guy's Hi Woody, and Dave. Your right about the boys at Faber, I can't understand the problem if you have a product that sells why not make them.I know it is far easier to make a batch of frames or anything come to that,as while you are making or forming one bit it is not much more trouble to make six or even twelve say. And there can be no excuse that they are waiting for material prices to drop as you can buy cfs or T45 at the same price it as always been. And if they can't get the frames bronze welded or tiged there must be 101 competent welders out there that are crying out for a job, (They must have a jig of some sort). The laser cutting man that we use is standing about just waiting for a job so that he can pay the instalment on his machine. I bet he would even pay for the delivery of bits. Anyway you know where I am coming from. Unfortuanatly Faber is about the only company making frames for C and B BSA engines, with the exeption of Paul Jackson who told me a while back that he would build a batch if he had enough orders, and the only other that springs to mind is Eddie Bull who I think built his and Eric Boococks frame. But the major stumbling block, which could be the problem with the new frame ?(and It should not be ) is that if you boy,s buy one and eventualy get it delivered, with the intentions of building a bike for next years pre-65 Scottish, without a rubber stamp on the frame to say yes it is exeptable, where do you and indeed Faber stand, it could all be put into the hands of "SuetheBas****s.com" couldn't it. This is how stupid this one trials regulations are. As you say Woody "The Magic" Manx classic two day trial has just as much nostalgia but without the hassel of worrying if this part or that is allowed. but you still need to get a entry don't you, but you can go for this trial with peace of mind that if you get your entry, all you need worrry about is the ferry. Well thats waisted an hour but do I care. i need the finger exercise for delicate throttle responce. Regard's Charlie.
  22. Hi Guy's . Well I have been keeping an eye on the form, and my prodiction is that Chris Gascoigne on his 350? Ariel will win by one mark . Beat that then. Regard's Charlie.
  23. Hi Guy's Well I e-mailed Howard at Faber and asked him if he could send me a couple of photos of the new frame. Well within a couple of days, he e-mailed me back and said that he had just had a computor crash so was unable to post the photos onto there web site. but he did say that he would send me a couple to post on Trials Central as soon as he could. But that as been well over a week ago, so perhaps some of you guy's could e-mail him and say Charlie Prescott is still waiting for the photos, he might then send them to me ? Regard's Charlie.
