  1. Hi I would say yes it is best to grease the bearings while you have the linkage apart. Marine grease is probably the best as it is suggests it is good for items used in water, as the linkage will be either while riding or getting washed
  2. give Gas Gas UK a shout, I got one for a 98 TXT last yr, poss still hyave some old stock
  3. totally normal, its called a floating disc
  4. Squeeze the clamp part with a pair of pliers and with a small screwdriver or bradle flick apart, then put them back on with the pliers, works every time
  5. One more piece of advice, be very careful in aligning the impeller shaft with the drive gear. It is important to get the bar into the slot correctly or you could snap the bar and need a new shaft or not get the two faces of the crankcase and the clutch cover sealed and forever suffer leaks
  6. Creamy oil equals seal issue on water pump shaft, best to replace shaft and seals at the same time as the shaft wears and then rips new seals when you put them in chuck the centre bolt (small allen head) for the basket. When the cover is back on the piston holds the fingers in and the basket cant come out or off, did this a while back to an 06. given that the bike was dumped in mud you might have slipped the ignition a bit, again i broke 3 kickstarts and it turned out the issue was the bike was firing just shy of correct band the bike was kickin back like a mad mule and causing the breakages also would suggest giving Kev at GasGasUK a bell, if he doesnt know what the problem is no one will
  7. it should not matter what yr bike you have all parts between 02 and 08 are interchaneable to the best of my knwledge, they did change from 2 piece to 1 piece middle and end cans late in that cycle, but it still had the same mounting points
  8. looks the biz Dale, health to ride, if you ever think of moving it on let me know
  9. ALL Gas Gas pro clutches rattle until you pull the lever, the fingers that work the clutch plates are what rattle That being said I bought a 2010 300 off Shirty that was once Dibs' bike and there is no rattle whatsoever, I am putting that down to the fact "Kev" had the bike set up proper for Dibs, but as I said in previous post rattles when you are not pulling the lever are normal
  10. you dont say what bike you have, if its a Gas Gas that is normal if its not then it sounds like you might have chipped a tooth on ths clutch basket when the kickstart problem occurred, as long as there is no bits of the kickstart gear or chips off the teeth floating about it should be ok
  11. If they are anything like the bones on a Gas Gas you could push them out with the new ones gently or you could use a socket the same size as the bearing case, used both methods before although they would need to be free if your using the new case to push in case you deform it Best to fill the bearings with good quality grease before rebuilding too
  12. Great debate has progressed here but you should all be aware of the fact that here in Northern Ireland a licence is
  13. I had a 350 version that had a similar problem and it turned out after a lot of expensive trys to be the 3 pin connector in the wiring under the tank. When the bike got warm this expanded and broke the connection between both parts of the loom until it cooled and contracted allowing the electrics to work best thing to do was to cut both and wire direct, worked perfect after that
  14. If your bike is a pro - ie from 2002 on I dont think it will fit, the pre 2002 bikes had calipers that sat on top of the swingarm where the 2002 on sit behind the swingarm and in front of disc
  15. according to Caroline Sandiford she is about 41st
