  1. Hi folks, sorry to say but I am selling my 315r, its a 2004 model in good condition(funnily enough!!),really,as I have on used it on one trial since I got it on early 2006. I work overseas and never seem to be home when the club is holding a trial,so want a machine I use on the road and have a thrap around the bing as and when. The bike is MOt'd and road registered, new Michelin tyres and sureflex dimpled clutch plates. can anybody give me an appx value for the bike as I dont have a clue, paid
  2. I have a 04 315R, I am a beginner too! has anybody tried the Jitsie Linkage plates? is it worth my while putting a set on my bike? I do find the back end seems reluctant to move around ( could be the fact I am crap mind). Any info would be gratefully read!
  3. I have just had my 315 tested for the first time, before hand I nipped into the test centre to talk over a few concerns. The main issue that the tester brought up was that my number palte was not visible from the rear,it was basically a trimmed full size plate velcroed onto the top of the rear fender. He was happy enough with a YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE rear number board, which is flexible plastic. it was visible from the rear, judging by the look of most bikes on the SSDT they were using the YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE plate. there is nowhere to hang a full size plate on these bikes! Hope that helps.
  4. I have just had my 315 put through its first MOT, I had a daylight MOT done, but the speedo issue should be the same. My speedo was not connected for the MOT as it was not required, the only worry that I had in advance was getting a number plate and getting the horn to work,in the end I just got the universal rear number board from YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE.Best bet is to go to the garage you will have the job done and talk to them, I did and was told that all I required was a rear visible number plate,I do not have a rear light or brake light (hand signals under the highway code),no speedo the real issue is that you will need a working electric horn. Mine sailed through without any issue,as the bloke who tested it said "there is bugger all to check on these other than the horn, brakes and spokes as you are getting a daylight MOT!" THE mot is timed so there was a lot of time just standing chatting as it is all done on the PC these days he cant just get it over with and sign it..

    315r Clutch

I had this problem when I first got my bike too, it was either on or off! What you need is a set of Sureflex dimpled clutch plates and the proper friction plates, mine turned out to have a motocross set hence on or off ( all cork plates!), if you get in touch with Sandifords they can supply you with what you need.Check first but when you take the plates out you should have four cork and three paper plates plus the metal plates, as I mentioned mine were all the same, apparently the CR250 uses the same so that was my problem! but with the sureflex and the correct friction plates it is very progressive, totally transformed. It is a very simple job to do and I just used the Silkolene light gear oil, which I change frequently.although being new to this I am open to suggestion to a better oil?!
  6. Bikes booked in for saturday morning, had a wee wordy with the bloke at the garage, hes happy as long as the horn works (need to fix that this week!) and I fit a rear reflector and get a rear facing number plate (YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE,ready to fit). daylight MOT...so stick duct tape over the headlight to save removing it and tape over the switch gear so it cant be used " what you do five minutes after you leave here is nothing to do with me" still got to pass though, lets not get over confident..
  7. Thanks for the help folks, I have not had a chance to look into this as I am out of the country just now. I had hoped that I would not need a rear brake light as there is not one fitted, there used to be provision under the highway code for hand signals....... will need to look at the horn wiring when I get back too,the speedo is fitted but needs a cable and the drive fitted too.wil try and find a friendly local garage.
  8. My 315R is due its first MOT at the end of the month. The front light and the horn are all disconnected (have been since I bought the bike in may),there is no rear brake light. What is the scoop for the MOT I believe that I can get a daylight MOT but must the horn work and the speedo be connected (also disconnected when bought, but apart from a cable I think that I have the bits to get that going!).The bike is road legal hence the MOT. Any help or suggestions would be gratefully recieved. Oh and Happy New Year all!!
  9. It's used for Subsea construction work, installing manifolds/templates.Flexible umbilicals etc for the oil industry,in deep waters. The ROV systems onboard are 4000m rated.
  10. The photos were taken in Bergen,Norway, where the ship was built,it's now a UK registered vessel on long term lease to the company that I work for. Bergen is an ace place for a run ashore, but very VERY expensive..appx
  11. Thanks for the offer,I would take you up on it but think I may struggle to get the day off, a few hours for a beer or two may be about it! Working on the ROV systems on here till late january then I'm off home for a few weeks, get the Mont out then....cheers though,Have a cool Yule ! http://www.bergenships.com/Normand%20Cutter.html
  12. Cheers Rob,never mind. Hooters can be nice on the eye,but when they stop serving after 6 pitchers and you and your mates are still sober its a bit off,not to mention asking a bunch Brits in there 30's for proof of age before serving you,now THAT'S funny! Think we will be alongside for a few days so maybe get New Year in Veets bar! Merry Christmas and thanks for the info matey.
  13. Hi there, I am currently sailing over the Pond from the UK (doing some Subesea construction in the GOM ).We are stopping of in Mobile,Alabama. I was wondering if anybody knew of any trials dealers or accessories / clothing type shops in town (know a few bars and of course Hooters but thats all I remember from last time).any info would be appreciated. Missing Christmas and New Year with the family so soem trias related retail therapy may help
  14. thanks for the web address for trick bits guys. I never looked in Halfords to be honest but my local car acc shoppie doesn't stock small letters etc only sized for legal minimum .. suspect for likes of YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE plate this will be smaller.
  15. Who ,where, how do I find TRick Bits? I too need a small registration plate,I have seen the YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE plate but not any suitably sized letters/numbers!
  16. I am not at home at the moment so I can`t just nip out and check, butI am pretty sure that I put 550ml in mine! as 1 bottle is not enough for two changes..How does yours start by the way as mine is a pain from cold, taking at least 5 minutes, fine when hot though. I think the choke is not working so I need to strip the carb when I get a chance.
  17. try using the likes of Nero 6, it will burn the majority of formats to DVD for you, only thing is you may need to buy it ...

    Xciting

Hi there I am after a pair of XC-TING trousers myself, dropping early hints to the wife for christmas(sad or what!).but after a bit of digging, Braybrook offroad are the main dealers fro XC TING with Sandiford having the concession on the Montesa clothing. go to here and you will find what you are after http://braybrookoffroad.co.uk/ the advanced generation trousers (pants in American!) are
  19. I am out of the country at the moment (working) but will be back in about 3 weeks, maybe catch you there sometime.be nice to see more trials bikes there rather than young loons on bing bashers! lol. be cool and not a mob
  20. I just finished putting my clutch back together.I had a big problem with drag, the bike leaping forward when put in gear when cold and also occasionally the bike continuing to drive when the clutch pulled in. I just fitted a set of 6 raceline dimpled steel plates and a new set of STANDARD Montesa friction plates.4 cork and 3 paper.starting with a cork then the 3 paper then the remaining cork,as in the manual. The bike is now sweet, with a progressive clutch and zero drag.It previously had a set of 7 cork plates such as would be found in the CR 250 crosser to give instant delivery hence the snatch that I experienced. My bike is totally transformed,it's 'kin ace.try it.
  21. After speaking to the importers in the UK this week about my own 315 clutch, dont get the friction plates for the CR as the they are all the same compound, the Mont friction plates are paper and cork, making them more progressive than the instant snatch of the motocrosser ones.
  22. Thanks for that, did you have any issues withdrag with some of the old plates back in.I took 6 steels out and put back 5 dimpled and one std,I am using PJ1 oil.

    Montesa Lock

    Bugger! unusual hobby...
  24. Help...further to my last post I have got a set of raceline dimpled clutch plates.I removed the original plates and fitted the new ones but now the clutch drags all the time! it will free wheel in neutral but with the clutch lever pulled in it will not free wheel if in gear. What have I done wrong? I think (pretty sure ) that the plates came out and went back in in the same order only with dimpled steel plates instead of the old ones?!HELP never done this before and thought that it would be straight forward enough! (to quote,"a ten minute job").
  25. Ferret, thanks for that. The fuel was fresh and the bowl had also been emptied when the bike was serviced as I saw that too and I have done it myself every time I have tried to start the bike from cold.Looks like I am going to have to open up the clutch then..is there much involved in that,ie simple DIY maintenance?Where is the best place to get your dimpled sureflex doo dahs then, Sandifords? You work away..ur not another offshore wallah are you? In which case I know what the other two things are 1. Going to church 2. washing the car....... no! then I have no idea what they could be....
