Clearing carb.
I have a Gasser enduro bike with Keihin carb that does not like this, once I turn the fuel back on the floats will stick and overflow fuel. This is probably just me though, I have good results doing it with yard equipment before storage.

Reliable low maintenance bike
I like my gassers, I get good parts support for them, if money was no object I would likely move on to try something else. I'm still not stranded in the bush, bikes are still much more competent than I.

Old style sidi boot straps wanted
And at the top of the page I get this "You cannot place a new order from your country (Canada)" I'll try the part # around the Google though. Thanks!

Old style sidi boot straps wanted
I'm all ears for a response here, my kid is missing a few of the straps that look the same, straps got brittle. Electrical tape has been our go to, hope you find a lead.

ST300 10w40 or 10w50
If it doesn't have the "energy conserving" circle on the back I would give it a try, I'm not sure if that's a Canadian thing but I have heard such detergents are not good for the clutch.

Reliable low maintenance bike
I would have to suggest that all mainstream brands are reliable, I would have no problem riding any modern bike way out into the woods. Fuel capacity is the only thing to hold these modern bikes back and that can be solved mostly with a few fuel bottles. I have never been stranded on any of my bikes, broken clutch cable once, not stranded, took the easy way back to the truck.

TL250 Clutch Actuator Greasing Tool?
Chainsaws also use these on their bars, I bought one from our local chainsaw shop. I believe it was maybe 12$

Trials bike buying advice .
My 2012 Gasser 280 gives me lots of joy, no problems getting parts...yet... Buy one, ride it, then buy more, secure them somehow. Do you live in Gotham?

Yamaha TY125 with ethanol?
It should be fine, I run a couple old Yamaha snowmobiles on it (1981) just best to not let it sit too long. Seems some of the two stroke oils condition the fuel as well, however the snowmobiles are oil injected. Biggest problem I have heard is plastic tanks swelling, however I have not had this problem either. Non ethanol would be best.

2009 Gas Gas 300 TXT Pro carb question
12 miles would be around max for my 280, an extra fuel bottle 24oz sure adds some confidence. But it does have the Keihin carb.

Bike infohelp
I would build a quick puller with threaded rod, washers, nuts and a piece of wood with a hole drilled out of it, but I can be a bit cheap sometimes...

2009 Gas Gas 300 TXT Pro carb question
+1 to the choke on, I have rode an embarrassing distance a few times not noticing the choke on! If your not using more than half throttle the fun factor can pull the wool over the troubleshooting part of the brain. My excuse would be riding with the kids...more concerned about them...I see 40 oz as a lot to consume in 20 mins whether it be beer whiskey or premix fuel! Side story, raced a hair scramble about 15 years back and one of the faster riders accused someone of pulling his choke on the starting line. He raced over AN HOUR WITH THE CHOKE ON!!! and I believe DNF'd after 2 of 3 laps. FASTER RIDER...AN HOUR...RACE!!!

200 vs 300: the dilemma
For what it's worth, I had an old 02 gasser 250. it was awesome! I bought a newer gasser 280, way too much power and I instantly regretted it!...have learned the power and would not trade back now! That 02 TXT edition was a great machine, but not as fun as a 280 Pro! Play with , or own as many as you can! life seems short!

Finding the right bike
Sometimes just finding a bike around here is easier than finding the right bike. Maybe find a bike in good mechanical condition, as carl ekblom said parts/dealer support is a big bonus. In my experience the right bike will eventually find you, they ship them over the pond every year! I'm 6'1 and have not had to rise the bars on my Gasser, I did roll them forward a bit. Watch out, these skinny bikes are a lot of fun and very addictive!

Over the counter API-GL4
Looks much too thick to me, My favorite is a Motul Transoil 10W30, ATF seems to work fine as well on my 2012 Gas Gas 280. I also make sure it does not have the energy conserving stamp on the back, whether it is true or not, I have been told it is not good for the clutch?

Where to source a 11t Front Sprocket?
From my experience, which is limited, skinny bike will hang with the big bikes in the slow stuff but the suspension will not keep up anywhere else and it feels like full on trials bike abuse. The harder stuff feels like cheating and the medium flowy stuff is just too much on the suspension to keep speed. Maybe different in your single track? Good luck!

Strange build up in fuel tank…crystals?!
On a more serious note, here in Canada I personally don't check gas tank leaks with a torch! I hope this means flashlight! For your sake I hope it was some really bad gas. I would fill it to the brim with gas, add a cheap in line fuel filter and go play for a tank or more! Probably the most enjoyable laziest way to do it.

- Gas Gas 280 Pro water pump O-ring leak
There was some wear in the water pump housing, And what's water pump housing worth! glad I can still find parts, still finding Gasser enduro parts okay too.- Gas Gas 280 Pro water pump O-ring leak
BING! lights just went off in my shallow dome! F___! Crack it probably is...how else would coolant be there. richt my brain missed another, and I reckon you won my last round of dummy as well. I wish I figure out how to dumb down the picture to post it but I bet your right! If I can figure out the crack, I'll figure out the picture of the crack. Thanks richt! I'm sure I owe you twice!- 2020 Beta Carb
I agree with everyone else^^^^ where abouts in Canada are you?- Gas Gas 280 Pro water pump O-ring leak
I've tried many things but the water pump, or especially the O-ring assembly keeps leaking coolant after doing the water pump rebuild again. It is a slow drip, I have accused all the other joints of being leaky and changing clamps and such. The leak is around the body of the water pump and I just can't get the surfaces to mate as I would like. I Have tried maxima grease at least 3 times, is there some sort of acceptable sealant that would help that little O-ring? Truth is that I quite like the bike, 2012 Raga 280, no new replacement coming in soon! Anyone had problems with this O-ring? - Gas Gas 280 Pro water pump O-ring leak
