  1. If the red lines represent cracks in the main body of the tank then i'd say you have problems. One solution may be to empty and remove the tank, clean the area around the cracks and try melting some plastic over the leaking areas? Just an idea
  2. I use Pro-Clean which comes in a squirty bottle. Wet bike, spray on and leave for two minutes rinse off, job done. I use a brush from a dustpan and brush set to scrub the stubborn stuff. There is also an accompanying dewatering fluid which you just spray after which is supposed to displace water. I just start the bike and have a play about in the drive for 10 minutes to dry then put the bike away after covering every inch of it with GT85 teflon spray until I next use it which is always easier to clean as the teflon film acts as a barrier between bike bits and mud
  3. I guess he must be at physics class brushing up on the laws of gravity and the like seeing as he hasnt responded to my drawings and theories
  4. Try a different thermostat to see if the original is faulty. I know that the shop i hang out at had a few problems with these on this particular bike.
  5. Excellent chart r2 thanks Now i can convince my m8's that 100ml of oil to 5 litres of fuel is too much. When I ask them what they are running on after they've blackened my face with soot when i'm behind them they tell me 100:1. When i ask them to explain the ratio they tell me 100ml to 1 gallon can I've tried to educate them but they just dont listen, this chart will help
  6. Or an even better diagram which proves my point :
  7. BillyT I did not miss physics i re-read my previous post and have edited it accordingly. Your theory is correct but bear in mind this is at the end of a ride when we tackle this climb hence not much petrol left after 3 hours riding!! The hill is that steep that the spigot is at a guess (and i mean a guess) 2 - 3 inches higher than the fuel level hence starvation. Any bike will cut out in that scenario i would have thought??????????? Please excuse the crudity of the attached drawing. The fuel will not always splash around and find its way specifically to the tap. This happens to 6 bikes are you suggesting we all have serious problems because the spigot is higher than the fuel in the tank and all at the same time. Another option is that if the float bowl is indeed full then at such angles maybe all that fuel is being tipped up into the main body of the carb hence flooding ? The answer is - do your steep drop offs when you've plenty of fuel in the tank then see what happens.
  8. Hi I have a mitas rear tyre and pirelli front. Went out in the snow about a month ago on the nice sunny welsh hillsides and had more grip than my mates who all have michies, we all attempted a big hill climb and after the second attempt i did get to the top mostly on the back wheel as it was quite rutted the other four didnt get close, tyre pressure was about the same in all bikes. Dont know if it was my impeccable skill that got me to the top, luck or the tyre I'd say Luck!
  9. Just a thought but how much petrol do you have in your tank when you go down this incline? This happens to me and my m8's sometimes, we go out for a ride then on the way back we always try the mother of all climbs. Coming back down it is so steep that obviously the fuel is at the front of the tank (lowest point) whereas the feed tap is at the back/highest point *(EDITED)* and we almost always have to coast back down as the bike cuts out. I'm surprised this has not been mentioned in any of the above posts as its the first thing that should've been thought of. Also when coasting or doing long downhills its recommended to pull in the clutch and give a blip of the throttle now and again just to get some fresh fuel mix into the barrel.
  10. Hi I generally wash the filter in hot water with washing up liquid, rinse and then dry. I use the aerosol foam filter oil which is easy and less tacky than other oils, simply spray outer face of sponge and put back in air box. regards superfly
  11. Hi What about a slow action throttle to give more manageable power use? I found the throttle a bit nasty on my 270 gasser and switched to the slow action which makes it way easier to manipulate power.
  12. Hi all Yes the clothing is expensive, no i'm not a cheapskate, I can afford the trials clothing no sweat its just the principle. I used to wear just denim jeans due to lycra being easy to melt (Few burnt knees in my time) and tear easily. I then bought a pair of moto x pants which were trial styled which are narrow at the bottom to tuck inside boots. Got them off ebay for
