  1. My mates bought one of these and has been to pick my bike up a few times. The backplate which attaches to the towbar he has turned so that the box section which the rack goes through is uppermost with the securing bolts facing outward. The lever thing is cured by putting a fat block of sponge against the lever and tightening the luggage strap so the lever james the sponge against the back window. The other option of course is to remove the lever totally for transport purposes
  2. The new pro's have only 3 clutch plates hence the slimmer gearbox and are a pressure plate type which sound and act as if theres something wrong when cold. When the bikes warm up all the problems disappear.
  3. Excellent thanks for the reply, I was fancying the hebos but have now reconsidered, its a toss up between diadoras and Novogars, decisions decisions
  4. Still waiting for a good answer Diadora Stones sound a good bet but would still like opinions on the others.
  5. Windy m8 can you not resize the photo please its taken me 14 minutes to load this page. Andy can we not have a size limit on the files? us poor people on 56k will be too old to ride our bikes by the time this page downloads. cheers superfly oh and heres my contribution
  6. Funny enough theres some Ansons clothing on ebay.co.uk at the moment do a search on trials in the automotive section.
  7. erm ok i'll have a look. Someone today told me to loosen the top fork clamps, undo the grub screw, turn the locking ring down tighten top nut then turn lock ring up and re-tighten grub screw - sound about right? Theres also an allen bolt underneath the bearing tube any ideas what thats for ? Thanks sup
  8. Hi all recently got my bike back from the bike shop after a bit of work was done including the steering bearings replaced. Anyway been out two weekends and there now seems to be a bit of movement there when I pull the front brake. Its not the floating discs moving its definetely the bearings loose or maybe just bedded in. Anyone know how a total repair noob like me could tighten them up? Regards superfly
  9. Mine haven't been yet I agree with the above statement on Manufacturers, suppliers and general bodies having their say. Too be honest I think the offroad voice is far too quiet and if it came down to a possible ban like they did with the foxhunting then a march on London would shock the sh*t out of people when they saw just how many people there are actually participating and supporting in our leisure pastime.
  10. That is correct unfortunately. Someone who worked with me was fired for being off work for 6 weeks due to a moto x accident as its not covered in company insurance or company policy as its "self inflicted" Doesn't the ACU cover stuff like this? I'm not an ACU member yet but I heard that somewhere. Also you can get seperate insurance policies for this stufffrom run of the mill insurance brokers.
  11. The other way is to fill the drum with water on its side, use a disc cutter with a hose running water onto the blade to stop any sparks. Or fill the drum with tinned expanding foam with the top left off and the foam will expand to push out any fumes in the tank. Working for a petroleum installation company you get to hear of so many nasty stories but this is one of the safest ways to go about it as this is how we decommission old tanks no longer required without taking them out of the ground. Plus the foam will help strengthen the drum afterwards when you doin splatters against it.
  12. OK cheers guys, wish me luck as its gonna be a saturday job after I've dug footings for a retaining wall, cleaned my fish tank out, changed the petcock tank tap, washed the car and taken the kids out on their pushbikes Just not enough hours on a weekend.
  13. Just received my new clutch cover and flywheel covers for the old dog, anyone know what lies in wait behind the flywheel cover when i go to change it as i've never taken that side off before. Also the clutch one i've had off before but i have a problem this time where i rounded one of the stupid little allen bolts on it any ideas on the best way to remove said bolt, cut a slot to use large screwdriver or tap a spline fitting into it for more bite?
  14. All i can say is he must've tried it a few times.... Look at the rut by his back wheel just deep enough to help his balance for the photo shoot Has he got straps on his hands to keep him to the handlebars?
  15. Have you cleaned the carb out? My friend had a ty250 which was constantly cutting out and the bike would only start and run with the choke out, turns out his carb had a grass seed in it
  16. Myself and some of my m8's bought the technosyl stuff and you need to heat it as you put it on to make the adhesive more tacky which when cooled does stick ok.
  17. Hi After last weeks outing my first pair of boots (Wulfsport cheapies) broke a buckle I bought these to start off with and 9 months later the stitching from one of the buckle retainers has come undone. After extensive web surfing i've come across these : Novogars (Gas Gas uk site)
  18. Ishy m8 I only contributed to this topic as lately some of my m8's who i ride with have switched to sherco's 3 in fact and I asked if there was a known design fault just so I could warn my friends to pay particular attention to related maintenance areas. All three are really good nick theres one x '02 and two '03's. but the fact remains that the gearbox's are noisier than my '98 gasser which to me seems odd. It has been known for brand new bikes to come out of the box with the noise. And yes I agree that if British is an alias for someone wishing to stir it then its wrong.
  19. Hi I got two new tyres around 6 months ago from BVM in stroud (I was passing at the time attending a meeting in works time ) Mitas rear and Pirelli front
  20. I dont ride any route yet but when i do start the easy will be too hard for me probably
  21. Gassers of that vintage?????????? So what does that make my '98 tx270? a relic?
  22. Is there some kind of manufacturing problem with these sherco's then? I've heard that some are noisy on the gearbox from new and some aren't, doesn't seem very good engineering to me, and also if you have to change the main bearings on fairly newish bikes seems a bit odd, no-one else think this too?
  23. Wayne I cant see the picture i think it needs enlarging?
  24. Beta boy why not invest in a pair of metal bar ends? or even better a stand? Just think of all that wasted money on grips when you could put it towards a new bike
  25. Andy what you also have to point out is the unpredictability of horses as opposed to most trails bikes being controlled by the rider (except in my case, more the bike is in control lol)and also a shod horse makes more of a dent in the ground than a trials tyre. Round our way it seems the horsey brigade have a following from the local authority councillors which s**ts on our parade straight away. I've done my bit also wrote a letter of response to a councillors remarks about offroad motorcycles in the local rag to ask him to see past his ignorance that not all offroad bikes are the same. People seem to generalise all offroaders as scramblers hairing about the place ripping up the mud and causing nusiances in public places and thats how ignorant people can be by not actually trying to understand what the sport is. Anyway turns out that my letter wasnt printed so you can see that freedom of speech is dead. I have about 200 acres of naturla woodland which is unattended or used by anyone yet the groundwork trust have claimed it for wild flowers and the like, its real prime trials territory but its now left to rot away with the protected flowers which no-one ever goes into the wood to see!!!!!
