  1. I was going to go into the bank and talk to them direct to ensure this can't happen...I might pay it into my savings account and withdraw it all so the building soc. has nothing to reclaim ?
  2. I've just sold my bike on ebay. Buyer is from CZ with 0 feedback. emails so far seem ok with no obvious scam signs. However, he has asked for a photo of the frame number and photo of reg document to ensure that numbers match. I'm a bit nervous of doing this in case it's cloned..but then I think all this info is available if you have the reg number so I think it's as safe as riding around with a number plate on ? Second question is regarding the reg document. If I sell abroad what do I tell DVLA. I don't want any speeding fines heading my way from the UK or CZ for that matter. I've asked DVLA so if no one can help I should have an answer anyway and will post it here. The buyer wants a courier company to collect the bike (no he hasn't asked me to pay for this) Again I see no problem with this as long as I have cleared funds in my bank. And I'll have the bike collected from my work address. Any advice or info welcome......I hate selling bikes....worst part of trials !!
  3. Cheers for the good advice, just a real pain for me to get to a shop to try them on, guess we'll have to make the effort. Thanks..
  4. It's about time I got my son a new helmet, he has a Hebo at the moment, but I'm not too impressed with it. I do like my Shoei, and I did try an NZI whcih felt horrible. Anyone recommend one ? or any advice ? Cheers
  5. My lad has a 125 and the exhaust has had a section cut out a to allow re packing, panle then replaced using self tappers and silicone. Just seen that the top mount has cracked and come aprt. Having this welded hopefully....I guess the heat in welding might have a similar affect !!
  6. Hi Big wig, sounds like you know who I am....Never to proud to take advice....But I do know a fair amount about engines...two stroke and four stroke. I do know that the cam turns one for every two on the crank....it's a 4 stroke ! I asked the question because the manual gave me advice which went against my knowledge. All the cars I have worked on have a sequence to adjust the tappets this meant you adjusted a valve when the cam was at it's lowest point...ie the bigest gap on the valve. If I followed the manual I would set the valves at "T" mark on compression (must be compression because all valaves were closed). If I did this the gaps would be bigger at point "F"......This is why I set the valve clearances at point F....the biggest gap on valves....But maybe I should ignore my knowledge and just do what the manual says....I was hoping someone would tell me the manual has a mis print or that maybe my bike has the flywheel in the wrong position (I assume it's on a keyway so can't be wrong) Maybe some flywheels were marked up incorrectly ? Feel free to collar me anytime...
  7. I did turn it over several times no difference. Have to admit I didn't check for top dead centre.....I guess you whip the plug out and look to see the piston tdc ? any other way ?
  8. Well I had a go at setting the tappets....But found when the flywheel was lined up with "T" on the inspection hole the rockers were not lose at all...found a mark "F" which gave me nice lose rockers. All gaps were fine although one exhaust valve was slightly tight, so I adjusted it...Read and re read the handbook but no mention of the "F" mark. Anyone care to shed any light on this.... If I set the tappets on The T mark they will go very lose at the F mark....and I always believed you set the tappets at the point where the valves are closed....ie the biggest gap on the tappets...THis can;t be the "T" Mark.....well not on my bike anyway ! Any advice, crtisism, p*ss taking welcome...
  9. Hi all, can anyone tell me what oil to use or avoid in the gearbox, and how much does it take ? cheers
  10. make sure you have run the bike for a while before looking at the plug.....If you start it up on choke and the look at the plug it might well be black.....Also if the bike is running ok, and revving out cleanly, ticks over nicely, then leave it alone... And of course I agree with the previous post.
  11. Or what about 10w 50 in the engine...It's just that I have a cheap supply of oil....but no 10w 40 fully synth !!
  12. What about 5 w 40 fully Synth in the engine and ATF in the gearbox ?? Judging by the comments/problems with the clutch maybe I should just settle for the proper Elf oil ? Cheers for all the help
  13. Sorry to repeat other bits....But just bought a 2005 4rt. can anyone tell me the name or spec of the gearbox oil ? don;t have the manual with me... Also reading the manual last night it says to inspect the piston every 6 months...does anyone really do that ?? had my 315r for 7 years and never saw the piston once... Also does anyone have any views on engine oils...any 10 40w oil be ok ? I have a supply of some semi synthetic 10 40W which would make life easier for me. any other service tips....things to check and things not to bother with ? As for pistons....it's so much work you might as well replace the damn thing rather than just look at it ?? Thanks
  14. You are entitled to your opinion....however wrong it is..!! ;-) I have to admit I haven't driven a vito for any distance....but I have drivers who didn't like the driving position. Fitting a new clutch in a Vito means dropping the hole front end. Our vitos were always going wrong (ecu problems ) we had to disconnect the battery to re set the ecu !! The AA used to have Vitos but dropped them quickly and went for T4's So assuming we are talking about a Van 7-10 years old I believe the T4 is better as it is cheaper to run, better built and as I said before it has a large following which gives the user better information and cheaper parts. Please note I think the new Vito might well be better than a T5...New Vito is RWD and our T5 certainly had problems.
  15. Wait a minute......Are you saying that even if I do spend
  16. I went for a T4 recently....old banger. Very little rust and seems to be built really well. Strong following for advice on T4forum. Loads of bits available to "tart it up" normally not used by builders so rare to find one full of cement dust...mainly electricians, chippys and Trials riders own them !! Don;t be put off the 1.9 normally aspirated or turbo. I've heard they are a more reliable engine than the 5 cyl 2.4. I ended up with a 2.0 petrol...which I converted to lpg....now costs less to run than a diesel.... check out the t4forum website before you choose.....it'll convince you a t4 is the way to go...
  17. Well Done guys.....!! Martin
  18. Good detail in that last reply......My Advice....Stop putting your feet down....You will sprain your ankles less and win more trials.....Easy !
  19. So.....anyone got the full results or know where I can view them ? National event and I can't find anything !! Good trial well organised !! I had to leave early so missed the final scores.... Cheers
  20. Is there a web site that we can see the results on ?? I can't find anything ? Cheers
